Weird dream last night

Recommended Posts

I had a dream my little girl (she's 8, and fock you for can size) was in my work truck waiting for me sort of up on a bridge.

I was walking away from her going to a building a block away to an appointment. As I'm walking I see this woman and her two little kids running past going the opposite direction on the other side of the street. Right after here comes what had to be an estranged husband. He had a tac rifle and was screaming sh!t after her incoherantly. He runs up to the glass enclosed stairway up to the birdge thing (overpass?) my little girl is on. When he gets halfway up he starts screaming and shooting at his family through the glass enclosure. I'm running towards him from behind, but won't make it. My little girl come out of my work rig with my AR and starts zipping him through the glass from higher up. She hits him at least 2 or 3 times in the upper right chest/shoulder and he starts shooting back at her. I didn't know at the time if he hit her so I was focking scared out of goard and enraged at the same time. He backs out of the stairwell and starts trying to reload with shakey hands. He just gets another magazine in the well and charges and notices me barreling at him from the side. He's swinging the barrel towards me and starts shooting about 10 degrees off. I'm able to grab the barrel, which burns my hand, and rip that focker away from him with my angry dad strength, thus beating him with the butt over and over until he is no longer and threat to anyone... ever.

Rush up to my babygirl and heres where it gets cloudy, but she's okay and was disappointed her shots going through the glass weren't all on target. We discussed trajectory issues when shooting through glass etc.. but super relieved... and she was the hero who saved that wife and kids!

FIN

I think the moral of the story is... I need to take her to the range and start getting her trained up.

I stopped reading after I learned that I wasn't going to get enough info to think about what her can size will be in 2027.

Just make sure you aren't the guy who let his little girl shoot an Uzi and she wasted him with the recoil.

Yeah I think that was the range tec, not her old man. But yeah... Uzi's are redic to keep on target.

Do you keep a loaded and unlocked AR in your truck?

I do think you should take your daughter to the range. Great way to learn gun safety and get comfortable handling them. Obligatory joke - she might be able to teach you how to shoot too.

I think the moral of the story is your job is too focking stressful. Damn, I dream that I can fly or am eating a never ending blueberry pie or am peeing. I hate those peeing ones.

mmm... beer - I don't think this type of dream (in a general sense) is that uncommon for Dads... I have both a little girl and boy... so I don't know that the gender is that important - just the overall idea that we want to protect our kids and teach them to be self sufficient.

The dreams that I have in this "genre" tend to be more car accidents and burning building types moreso than gunmen/combat... but I'm sure this is a home-invasion version thrown in there which is more along the lines of yours.

But the sad reality is... (here comes the whopper)... this rubbish is planted in our heads nightly by the rotten/poisonous media that bombards us daily with tragedies and horrors...

“Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
You forget some things, dont you?
Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget.” ~ Cormac McCarthy

I agree with you. I've had a ton of nightmares about protecting my family from intruders. Always pisses me off that the bullets never do any damage, but no one has ever hurt me or my wife/kids in the dreams either. I guess it's a win...

The guns are phallic symbols. Your daughter having a gun means you wish she was a boy. You grabbing the other guy's hot barrel, well you can do that math.

I don't think it's that abnormal of a dream. It's when you dream they are getting hurt, etc., that I would say you might have some issues.

For me, I used to dream the most absurd things about those I cared about. Me being gone and my GF being raped, Father being stabbed by a gang; me sliding down a hole and nobody knew I was there.

F'd up sh1t like that. I don't have those dreams anymore, but I'm also not nearly as depressed as I used to be, so I think there's a correlation. I could be wrong.

Your job, while not as bad a beat cop, still deals with the sh1tbags of society and it DOES wear on you. Gotta try to remember just because you work in trash collection, doesn't mean everything is trash.

There's good in the world too; sometimes you just gotta find it.

Also, you should have her work on mag changes and malfunction drills. Those are the time consuming ones.

Trigger control is easy with dry fire.

May want to incorporate some transitional work to a secondary weapon as well. No time to reload or fix a malfunction in a hot engagement.
