best handcuffs to steal?

Recommended Posts

I've found myself snagging up Hillman and Starks in the last couple rounds in a lot of leagues for some reason, are guys like this (Darren Sproles being another) worth taking, even if it's not your handcuff, over deep sleepers like Bradshaw, Cunningham, James White, etc.?

I took Helu late in my draft. He'll be a 3-down back should Morris miss time. I like him even more in Jay Gruden's system.

I'm in a 10 team ppr league that is high stakes....some good owners and a couple of guys I consider strong players....17 round draft and one of those guys, who drafted forte at 4, takes Kadeem Carey in the 12th

I remember at one point last year before the season was over some thought he might be the first back taken in the draft....guy was a 4th rounder and I've yet to see him ranked in anyone's top 200 yet...don't even think hes the clear backup....handcuffing has gotten out of hand for some

The Chicago Tribune suggests rookie RB Ka'Deem Carey may not be active on game days to open the season.
Carey was beaten out by Shaun Draughn for Chicago's primary backup tailback job, and No. 4 back Senorise Perry has more special teams value. Carey was one of the most disappointing rookies in the NFL during the 2014 preseason.

Hyde and Hill are my main two to get. They should get carries early on so we'll be able to see how they do before we need them.

I'm loving hill and Williams in keeper leagues. Hillman could be amazing if Ball sucks or gets hurt. I'm just glad I have the #1 priority. If Charles or Ball go down I'll have first shot at a stud handcuff.

to me its hill and its not close. No other backup is going to get as much work as he will with the starting rb healthy.

Post-draft, I think Crowell from the Browns is a good one because usually the Tate owner is drafting West. For all we know, he's ahead of West.. He's certainly more talented.

Joique Bell?

Joique Bell?

I don't think most people view Bell as a handcuff or backup, he's being drafted as a starter in deeper leagues. Bell had about 230 touches last year to Bush's 280.

Devonta Freeman

  • high powered offense (ATL)
  • SJax likely to miss time due to injury
  • Freeman looks great in pre-season (and Hard Knocks)

I drafted Hyde, Mason, Davis, and J.Bell in one of my leagues...Bell see's as much of the field as Bush does in my opinion...

Jeremy Hill will not only be Gio's backup but will get some playing time as well. He's a bulldozer who can also catch balls out of the backfield. If you draft Gio, you better make it a point to get Hill on your roster.

The year Priest Holmes got hurt and Larry Johnson went apeshit is a prime example why stealing a handcuff can work

johnson was also productive beforehand... they were almost like a 1-2 punch (with holmes getting the bulk)

that's why i see fred jackson being quite a snipe... he will produce anyway, but if cj goes down... LOOKOUT!

Hyde. Hyde. Hyde.

agreed.

Gore has had a history of injury. been ok of late, but now is 31 years old. only a matter of time til this catches up with him.

Grab Him!

I guess now that Ka'Deem Carey has rocketed up to the #2 RB on the depth chart I'd put him below Starks on the above list.

Ssshhhhhhh.
