Minnesota at Philadelphia: NFC Conference Championship

After that ending, gotta be worried about an emotional burnout by the Vikes for this game.

The Vikings may be the better team, but I think the smart money is on Philly.

Eagles.

Foles is better than people give him credit for....imo.

Keenum is worse than people give him credit for....imo.

Philly is tough at home.

Vikings have distractions -- miracle win, Shurmur is leaving, travel, Minneapolis is buried in snow and cold this week.

Vikings always crush their fans hopes and dreams.

Vikings win. IMO, the defense got a wake up call and will be strong against the Philly offense. I would take the under 38 and Vikings with 3.5. Score: 20-13

Which QB will suck less? I think thats the answer.

Frankly neither one of em looked that good last round. Keenum saved his day with that miracle heave.

Foles had a 100.1 rating (only QB in NFL history with +100 rating in first 2 playoff starts), only missed 7 throws. Granted, they were bad misses, but most were in the 1st half. 2nd half, he lead some big drives.

Crushing them for YEARS!

Panthers, Bucs, Patriots were some of the worst beats I can remember

True and one of the reasons it's Negadelphia. But, Andy Reid is KC's problem now. How'd that 1st half lead work for them? :music_guitarred:

I didnt think the Eagles would beat the Falcons so I am probably off on this too, but I see one of two things happening.

1.) An extremely sloppy / low yardage / field goal game where field position will mean everything (special teams wins the game for whichever team).

2.) The Vikings completely roll the Eagles. I cannot see it the other way around at all.

A few things come to my mind when looking at this matchup.

OL vs. DL. Both teams have a massive talent cache on the DL. Everson Griffen vs. Halapoulivaati Vaitai is the matchup I'm fearing the most for the Eagles. Wouldn't surprise me to see the Eagles run quite a few plays where Celek/Burton line up on the left side to chip and help. The Eagles ran 12 and 13 personnel on 36% of their plays this season. I'd expect that to be the floor in this game.

For the Vikings, the left side of their line is really...questionable. Reiff, Sirles and Elfein are some of the lowest graded O-linemen on PFF. Brandon Graham could eat. The Vikings used 2+ TE sets on 35% of their plays. Just like the Eagles, I could see that being the floor in order to get help against the pass rushers.

Slot WRs: Both QB's are going to have to get rid of the ball quickly. Does Adam Thielen line up in the slot a bunch this game? If so, he's going to be matched up against Patrick Robinson, who arguably has been one of the best slot CB's in the NFL this season. Meanwhile, Nelson Agholor could see a bunch of Terrance Newman. Woof.

Running game: I just don't see anything from Blount or Murray in this game. Seems like a McKinnon and Ajayi/Clement game. The Eagles...at times...have struggled with their linebackers covering in space. I'd be shocked if Jerick McKinnon doesn't outsnap Murray by a minimum of 5-10 snaps.

D: Vikings opponents converted only 25% of 3rd downs this season. Eagles opponents converted only 32%. In the divisional round, the Saints were 2-9 (22%). The Falcons were 4-13 (30%). This is where the game is going to be won or lost. Can the defenses get off the field? The Eagles and Vikings were 1st and 2nd, respectively, in time of possession. The biggest question for the Vikings is whether Andrew Sendejo will be cleared from concussion protocol. When he left the game against the Vikings, the Saints were able to start moving the ball in a big way.

This has the makings of a good old fashioned slobberknocker. I think the Eagles defense, at home, is the best defense in the league. I...don't know if that's going to be good enough though to beat the Vikings.

If Nick Foles can lead a TD drive, I think the Birds pull off the upset. Otherwise, I just don't see it.

Vikings 13. Eagles 9.

Sounds like Thielen's back issue may be a little more troublesome than initially thought. Rapoport reporting Thielen has a couple slight fractures in his back. It's more of a pain issue than anything.

Wow. It's fortunate for him that the weather will be relatively mild tonight. Supposed to be low 40's there.
