leftyguitar 0 Posted August 21, 2006 we're nearing the end of our draft. We're in round 11. 5 picks left. (2 of which will be my K and DEF last.) so with my 3 picks, what should my strategy be? (this is not a keeper league, so maroney or turner would be simply insurance and not investment) I've got 3 RBs (we start 2): maroney, and turner are still there as handcuffs to LT / Dillon... but there are also some starters left: Fred Taylor, Thomas Jones, Cedric Benson, Ahman Green, Kevin Barlow, Chris Brown... I'm planning on taking 2 more WR's to cover my bye weeks (maybe coles, kennison, reggie brown, clayton), might take a gamble on deion branch, he's still there in the 11th round... whats my best plan of attack? (league info, scoring etc is in my sig.) thanks! leave me a link!
charlieturd 0 Posted August 21, 2006 I would take a gamble on Cedric Benson....I think he will eventually become the starter in the Bears run-heavy offense. They have invested too much money in him to leave him on the bench.... All of the choices are gambles, though.
leftyguitar 0 Posted August 22, 2006 i'm concerned about benson too... both bears backs look beat up.
bjlmonster 0 Posted August 22, 2006 That is a good question. F. Taylor - Injury history + talk of losing job to G. Jones Benson/T. Jones - Benson has the $, but Jones produced + both hurt Green - starter if healthy Barlow - who knows in NY, but terrible offense anyway Brown - always hurt - alot of competition Turner - good back, but I don't see the carries this year Maroney - very good pre-season showing + Dillon is an injury ? Here is what I would do if I were you. 1. Take Branch in 11th 2. Take Maroney in 12th - he will get carries + be the man if Dillon goes down. 3. Take any of above RB's (except Turner) in 13th if they are still available. I know you want a WR, but it will be easier to pick up a bye week WR off waivers than to pick up the starting RB in Chicago/GB/Ten/Etc. Also, if Branch never shows up, you can drop him for a bye week WR before week 6. Worst case senario you drop the RB you take in the 13th round for a bye week WR. You may even get T. Jones and can trade him to the Benson owner later for a bye week WR. I like your options with going Branch + 2 RB's. You could also take Clayton (TB) and two RB's! budman1 0 Posted August 22, 2006 i would go after 1 more rb, fragile freddy has looked good in camp, maybe this is the year he plays 16 games? or barlow now that he has a new team and will be the starter. i like freddy over barlow though. nice team though
