Why is Tre'Quan Smith ranked so high this week?

Recommended Posts

I understand it could be a high scoring game. But other than the Washington game, he hasn't done anything at all. I may be needing to pick up a WR with Diggs possibly not playing and my others on byes. Is Smith really worth a shot? I just don't see it.

With Ginn on IR people are expecting Smith to takeover his role. Hes only had one game since Washington to prove that he can do it. He played fine but Saints ran the ball all day. Most expect that wont happen this week.

You guys have both mentioned a lot of the reason why I like him this week. He's functioning as the No.2 wide receiver in the offense, high scoring game (60 point total), the Rams have given up big chunk passing plays this season (granted most came against the Vikings). He's probably a boom or bust option with a better shot at booming this week given the expected game environment.

hmm thanks for the replies guys. Maybe I'll look into picking him up if I can't work out something otherwise. I know it should be a high scoring game so maybe it'd be worth it for a week lol

Rams have Cooks, woods and Kupp on most fantasy teams. Makes sense that the saints 2nd wr should be rostered. The problem has been identifying the #2. Ginn was borderline, Meredith showed a glimpse, then went back to nothing. I really think Smith has the potential to be a high wr3/ low wr 2, with some serious upside.

He has scored over 5 points once in non ppr and 8 points once in ppr.

He is a wr6 in non ppr.

How does that translate into a wr3 or wr2.

My opinion is that he has that potential. I didnt say he has been a wr 2 or 3.

Thanks for reading, have a great day!

You are calculating this on his full season? He has only been relevant for a few weeks, those are the only games you should be looking at. So thats weeks 5, 7 and 8.

Hes very much boom or bust, Im just trying to be fair in his evaluation range.

Of let’s me fair.

Sorry I wasn’t being fair lol.

He’s had one game in which he’s score over 5 points in those three games in non ppr and one game he’s scored more then 8 in ppr.

I’m still trying to see wr2 or even wr3 potential.

Mmm maybe we should make it real fair and just count week 5, or even less fair and just count weeks 7 and 8.

Hey let me know, and I’m sure you will.

Didnt say you did say that we was or has been.

I was making a statement and a opinion of my own.

My do you feel so judged?

Mmm.

Hes played 3 games as a relevant fantasy option. Those are the games you look at and evaluate from. When Mixon got hurt and Bernard was starting did you look at the the games he played as a backup and say oh he sucks he hasnt scored much? No, because its a new situation and he was starting, obviously.

I shouldnt need to explain this, its common sense.

3 games, 1 big game, in a starting role now...that adds up to SOME potential. Hes best played as a wr3 with boom upside.

Wait lol oh my soul this post made he laugh so hard.

When Mixon went down did we need to look at Gio stats to see he had done nothing as the rb2 with the Bengals.

But did anyone actually hesitate to pick up Gio knowing he would be the rb1 with the Bengals. Is that your point?

What option is T Smith with the Saints, mmm. Doesn’t look like he’s much of a option expect for one weekend.

Sure he will post another game or two with some good stats, sorry but most weekends he can’t be counted on as a flex play.

Just my opinion, lol look at Gio stats when Mixon went down, you’ve made some really poor post, and this one is the topper, not hating just a statement. Hey take care. God Bless

Listen...Im saying the situation with Bernard obviously changed when he became the starter. So you wouldnt look at his other games when he wasnt the starter. obviously that wouldnt be a good Measure right? That was my point.

Look at the thread, Ive said Tre is a boom or bust, not claiming hes some stud. I was just simply owning you for saying his stats for the whole season made him a wr6 when obviously thats not fair considering he has only been relevant since week 5.

Oh and Trequan just scored. So now hes played 4 relevant games and had 2 decent outings or better. Want to keep digging the hole deeper? You dont watch football, you are the least credible guy on the whole forum and a clown.

Apparently we cant question the opinion of weepaws. I gave my opinion, tanatastic gave theirs. And weepaws gets personal right away. Nobody said he is going to be a wr 1 this year, but Green stockholders may want to look at this guy for a fill in.

My opinion is that weepaws needs to relax and enjoy the game for what it's worth. This isnt life or death, bud. Make your picks, share your opinions, and enjoy life! Most of us play fantasy football for $50-$100, it's not worth getting upset over.

As a side note, weepaws. I really do like your opinions. They are mostly outside the box thinking, which I like. That's why most of us are on this board, to see others opinions. So let's bury this hatchet and move on.

Lol,and again I laugh at another silly post you’ve just made.

Why would you look at a back up rb stats before picking him up knowing he will be a rb1.

That’s not a bad point that’s a stupid point.

I would agree I am the least credible guy on here, no problem with that.

Thanks m

Isn't TreQuan pretty much taking the Ted Ginn role?

I think that puts him in WR3-4 territory going forward.

I agree with him taking the Ginn role. My only point is that he is much more talented than Ginn. Bumping him up a level.

Someone around here posted his combine numbers compared with Michael Thomas's. I think they were trying to say they were comparable, but what jumped out to me was Michael Thomas and him were close in top end speed, but TreQuan was off by a good % on the agility numbers (shuttles and stuff).

That's what I usually look at. It's hard to get open if you don't cut and have quickness at an elite level. Made me think he was more suited for the designated deep threat role.

Is he though. Ginn was doing the same thing in the role. What were seeing is that role on this offense is mostly smoke and not enough fire. I have Smith and Brees. I had Ginn. I felt better about Ginn.

The main problem is the ground game is so good there’s no room for stars outside of Thomas. He’s a boom or bust wr3 and I’d start him in the home games against soft defenses.

Agreed. He might not be a safe flex until Ingram gets hurt. Ingram kinda changes the offense.

Boom or bust wr3, this is the bust part. What if he makes a big play next week, will you ask what happened then?

This is not your GOTCHA moment.

Hey I was just asking what happen.

I don’t give gotcha moments.

FF is all luck, what is there to gain.

I saw his stats and watched the highlights of that game and saw that he didn’t even have a target, so just asking what happen.

I didn’t see if he was injured during that game or not I was just asking a question, I didn’t mean to hurt feelings.

Enjoy the Monday night game, let’s go Niners huh?

I read somewhere, where some fantasy analyst (think it was CBS's Jamie Eisenberg), described the only times to potentially use T Smith as.. to paraphrase, those Superdome games where it looks like Brees is gonna just light the other team up like a pinball machine.

So to that end:

Versus: PHI Week 11 (this week) , ATL Week 12 and perhaps against PIT Week 16. If you have the need and haven't dropped him.. this could be one last week to try him out. The Eagles defensive backfield was a sieve before losing Darby.. Thomas will get his.. maybe TreQuan can really cash in too?

Yep, Darby out and no Sidney Jones or Jalen Mills either.

Call me an idiot, but I'm thinking about firing this sum buck up again this week. Own Sammy Watkins in 3 leagues, and can't wait around until Monday and hope for the best. Tre'Quan is a free agent in all 3 leagues, and has the most upside (and, perhaps, lowest floor...as we witnessed last week) than other free agent WR's.

Wentz has enough weapons to keep it competitive. WR2 on a Drew Brees offense....gotta work out eventually....law of averages, you know.
