Red Pilled

You could say Hillary and the Bush clan and Romney are all the same, but there were profound differences with the actual platforms in 2016. For one, the uniparty wanted to bring in a million refugees. Trump was aiming a bit lower. Then there's immigration and taxes. Polar opposites. Then there's trade, also a 180.

That's true. Very good points.

I think I liked Hillary's tax proposals more, but definitely like Trump's stance on illegal immigration.

I definitely liked Hillary more on environmental regulations, but do understand the burden it places on business, and how that could slow growth. I'm just solidly in the camp that fossil fuels and carbon emissions are profoundly impacting our environment.

I don't know enough about trade and the global implications to have an opinion on that. At face value, I agree that we are on the short end of the trade agreements, and that they need to be renegotiated.

And while I wouldn't say I've been "red pilled"; as the democratic party moves farther left, I definitely see myself aligning more with the republican party. Especially with the more moderate members of the party. Charlie Dent, Kasich, Kinzinger, Specter, etc.

Exhibit A.

Surprised to hear this kind of hate from someone who has experienced real mental illness and suicide first hand.

Kanye is now the GOP darling. LOL!

Wow.

I do find it interesting how people react when it's Lebron it's shut up and dribble when it's Kanye it's hooray let's here more. This is definitely one of those both sides do it cause Kanye is getting attacked.

Either way I do wonder if this is a culture shift.

Both sides? There is one side. They support Wall Street, K Street, Washington DC, the military industrial complex, corporate employers, the prison system and the surveillance state. They are against privacy, consumers, labor, the working class, taxpayers and voters. They have deliberately tricked you into thinking there are two sides while they steal from your pocket and bend you over a barrel. The court jester in the Oval Office is the perfect distraction for them.

This. Our democracy has failed. It is a keptoctaric oligarchy at this point.

I find it hilarious how much red vs. blue gets people riled up. Its just as meaningless as the red vs. blue vs. green in the chariot races in the decaying Roman Empire.

It seems obvious to me that the poop comes in very distinct flavors, not only between the two competing parties that have very different agenda goals and priorities but also within each party are different factions. If you're lucky, like some posters here, you may even find a flavor of poop that you like.

Oh, both parties keep a steady string of dog and pony show social issues out front to rile people up. Guns, gays, abortion, trannies, racism, whatever. Its the side show that distracts us while they pick the rubes pockets.

But when rubber meets the road they are both spending addicted globalist corrupt goons, utterly owned by the corporate interests who put them there. The parties have flip flopped power back and Forth my whole life. Nothing really changes. The same problems are still the same problems. Both parties still preach their tired solutions.

Its a game. They are only in it to line their pockets and gain power. Thats it.

Trump is a complete narcissist wildcard bully. He is anything but a globalist and has shown it. We have been waiting for years for a guy like him to make both parties flip their lids. America moves forward everyday, the extent of which is usually hampered by government.

While yes, he has been down on Muslims and DACA, he has generally ignored taking sides in guns, gays, abortion, trannies, racism, whatever and it has driven the left batty.

Thank god we have finally got a mavericky wild card in the WH to enact some fresh new ideas like tax cuts, deregulation and bombing the Middle East. Who knows what this crazy man is going to do next!

A couple of general thoughts......

On Kanye......Both when the George Bush and Taylor Swift things happened, I wasn't even listening to his music yet. For some reason I downloaded MBDTF, thought it was amazing, downloaded most everything else, and I'm kind of a fanboy of his now. I consider him likely a top 5 artist of the past 15 years. So I'm not unbiased.

But when it comes to Kanye's views on Trump, it's always been my view that Kanye doesn't have strong views one way or another on much policy wise....Instead, I think Kanye is blown away that a reality star/low level celebrity was able to market his brand and and maneuver himself all the way into the position of most powerful man in the world. We all know Kanye has just a little bit of an ego, and what Trump pulled off is the ultimate. It makes total sense that Kanye would love Trump in this context.

That being said.....whether Kanye does love Trump's policies, thinks Trump is a good person, admires the maneuvering as stated above, it's not too big a deal to me.........I won't claim that I never care at all what an artists political beliefs are, but I can't imagine it ever being the determining factor on whether or not I support their art. I'd like to think 95% of my opinion of an artist is based on if they provide me something I can enjoy, and I'll concede that their personality (including political beliefs) may affect me up or down by 5%.

The parties hate him because hes a DC outsider who is unbeholden to corporate interests and therefore doesnt need to play the game.

This would be a good thing if he wasnt also a dimwitted attention wh0re who doesnt want to govern and handed the keys over to basically the same crocodiles who were running the swamp before. They probably love having the Useful Idiot in Chief out there twittering it up while they rob you blind.

There is only one playbook btw.

Pretty much this.

Perhaps I am a bit naive but I think there are still some real choices out there. Bernie Sanders, for example, does not appear to fit your mould. Dont think its an act either since hes been that same guy for 40 years now. Whether he could actually do anything is a different issue though

Anyone that thinks Bernie Sanders is a decent choice to lead this country is stupid, plain and simple. Guy is a crook. Universal base income? Do you know what country this is?

You must have misunderstood. I was not necessarily defending his policies (though I like many of them), but more that he would present a very real departure from business as usual. And not just superficially so like that bumbling idiot of a reality tv star.

But since you bring it up, how is he a crook?

As for UBI, whats your plan for when the robots are doing all the jobs? I dont think its necessary yet but I would be focking shocked if it doesnt happen in the future. Unless we end up in some kind of dystopian wasteland where 95% of us are essentially beggars, which is certainly possible.

Yah. I think we initially saw the GOP establishment rally against him, because they truly believed he could flip Washington on its head. Then the dust started to settle, and they realized how truly incompetent and completely incapable of even paying attention he was, and they all fell in line, knowing it would be business as usual.

An extreme socialist isn't the "departure from business as usual" that I am looking for. He has a poor mans mentality and it isn't good for the US. Can't get it on your own? Get the fock out.

It will work the same it always has, old jobs will go away and new ones will be created. Bernie's solution would be to just create more government jobs and funnel money to those people, which isn't the answer.

Not a good choice, just the best realistic option that we had in 2016. Also isn't doing a bad job at all so far.
