edjr 5,562 Posted July 19, 2018 Good one As I said. That is because they sell so many to brokers. Those count as sales. The brokers are dying too. No one needs then anymore.
edjr 5,562 Posted July 19, 2018 Does this hold true for other sports? Going to games is crazy expensive. I've bought partial season tix for the Bruins since 2010. I am done. I am done with all attending all sports. complete and utter waste of money and Ticket Master can suck a d1ck with their fees. Concerts too, I am done. Maybe i'll go to a show at a small place, but that's it
bandrus1 413 Posted July 19, 2018 much like hotels I am sure they crunch the numbers and find the price point where it is better to charge more and have less people

I still do concerts but Im talking $25-$30 tickets at most. Im old and cheap.

I'd love to see sales and actual attendance
Hawkeye21 1,853 Posted July 19, 2018 Those numbers are ticket sales and not actually attendance. The numbers are actually much, much lower. Saint Louis at the top is an absolute joke. This has to be their worst attendance in a very long time. It's no where close to 96.2%.
Hawkeye21 1,853 Posted July 19, 2018 Does this hold true for other sports? Going to games is crazy expensive. I believe it's about the same for most professional sports except maybe the NBA. They seem to be the only one's growing at the moment. I think college football still has great numbers but wouldn't surprise me if those are dropping some too. The cost of a ticket along with parking and food is very expensive.
Mike Honcho 4,027 Posted July 19, 2018 2018 Average 66.02% 2010 Average 68.52% 2018 without Marlins 67.4% 2010 without Phillies 67.3% Couple of outliers are skewing the results, IMO. Need to look at real attendance numbers to reach a real conclusion.
Hardcore troubadour 12,631 Posted July 19, 2018 There's no more "hey, there's nothing to do, let's go to the stadium and score a few cheap tickets". It's an arm and a leg no matter where you sit. I laugh when I see Yankee attendance numbers. We can all see the empty seats.

Remember the days when you could say "hey, lets go to Fenway and get some tix and sit in the bleachers." owners of major sports team, do not care one sh1t for the fans. There are plenty of teams that offer plenty of tickets at reduced rates. What gets you every time is dealing with driving there, paying for parking and then paying for food and drinks. Paying $20 for a cheeseburger and fries is ridiculous.

Dropping that kinda cash on it just feels so wasteful, especially when I used to go for free. It sucks the fun right out of it.

I love baseball, but it requires beer. At least 5-6. It's 10 bucks a beer for the good stuff at YS. And the bleacher seats are pretty hard to get. Plenty of 30-50 dollar seats. mighty_thor 115 Posted July 19, 2018 I haven't paid for a MLB game in years. I'll get tickets through work on occasion. Its just too damn expensive. I have come home from work on a nice night and asked my kid if he would like to go see a ball game. I'll take him to a minor league game for a reasonable price. I will take kids to Single A games for $8 a ticket (at most). Although the kids did not want to go to a Cape league game this year, which I think is a good take. vuduchile 1,941 Posted July 19, 2018 SIngle A tickets iare cheap and easy to get in South Bend. The park has batting cages, lawn seating and pretty decent food. But, the refreshments are still sorta pricey. The stadium and field are pretty damned nice. They're are building condo units around it with rooftop bleachers and restaurants. Casino money. https://www.milb.com/south-bend/ballpark/four-winds-field/

Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted July 19, 2018 I like going to playoff hockey games because of the insane excitement, but I don't go often. Screw the teams gouging the fans. They will feel the wrath of being too greedy eventually. They will price out an entire generation of fans, and it will be too late to get them back
RLLD 3,455 Posted July 19, 2018 Yes, baseball is dying and good riddance too.... every time they try to setup some rational guardrails to enhance competitiveness the union kills it. Fock them all, let them actually work like the rest of us for a little while.

Vince44 202 Posted July 19, 2018 Still nothing better than going to the old ballpark for a game. The roar of the crowd, crack of the bat, sound of the ball hitting the glove, smell of the hotdogs, scent of a cold beer, aroma of the popcorn, catching a foul ball, watching a homer leave the yard, seventh inning stretch, and meeting the players after the game. Baseball is still the best game. What it really needs? Cubs vs Red Sox/Yanks in the World Series for a few years in a row. The only three teams that have a national fanbase instead of a regional fanbase. This would bring back the casual viewers. Storylines to attract the younger demo.
