McCoy for sale

Recommended Posts

This is my last year in this league. My teams are floundering everywhere because I have zero time for ffball. I'm trading McCoy to the best offer. I want to give the future owner something to work with for the future

Wtf was that trade about? You just gave McCoy away to the league juggernaut. I certainly would have offered more than that if I had seen this earlier.

same sentiment here. wasn't going to post about it but to trade McCoy away for a career #2 RB (free agency aside) is not leaving the new owner with much in terms of useful assets and they probably would have been better off holding McCoy and trading him themselves.

not that I offered a great deal to start but I did offer Riddick, a 2nd, and a 3rd essentially for McCoy and could have been negotiated up on picks. <_<

I didnt even offer the trade, just accepted it.

Devils advocate: McKinnon has been hot lately, is 4ish years younger, and I believe is heading into FA. He has all the physical tools.

But yeah I definitely like the McCoy side here, even as a short(er) term player.

all correct points except all the physical tools. Theres a reason he was never able to establish himself in peterson's absence. Maybe he's turned a corner and some team will prefer paying him more money over a cheaper rookie RB via the draft.

just seems like an odd trade if the idea was to leave the new owner with assets.

The El Padrino confirms the feelings of his fans and acknowledges that he finds himself feeling that Frozen has made a strange move here.

I okayed the trade, having not looked at it, because that's not what we do here.

After the owner that traded McCoy admitted he is quitting the league.

This trade must be revoked.

Thoughts?

I think Nuts could have got more for McCoy from a desperate team in Win Now mode that needs an RB, but I don't think trading him for McKinnon is veto worthy.

Looking at it for just this year.....its a wash in my eyes...I think they put up similar numbers.

Next year........McCoy is 30 with a ton of usage and McKinnon is quite possibly a young FA with a solid year of production as a starter.

I have seen worse trades in this league (in my opinion) that have gone through.

For what it's worth, I believe Frozen to be a solid owner with good intentions.

If someone has a gut feeling that Mckinnon is going to be a star on another team next year, kudos to them for seeing something most don't......But when your stated goal is to make a team more attractive to the next owner.....

I'm probably going to fall in with this opinion.

It was a bad trade for sure. Just sticking with McKinnon, I suspect he could have gotten McKinnon + something....and had he given it 12 hours I am confident he'd have liked some other offers more, especially if looking at it from the viewpoint of an incoming owner.

But I don't think it's veto worthy.

This is my only issue with the trade.

Trades should never be vetoed unless collusion is proven.

And the trade makes sense for thr guy getting mccoy and might make sense for frozen if he were staying on since he believes McKinnon is going to sign with another team and be their lead back.

But with this team going to a new owner next year, the idea of leaving this team with assets thay make it attractive is nowhere to be found via this trade. Someone taking over has to really like McKinnon or they woild have been better off having McCoy to flip themselves

I think that in order to veto a trade you either need:

1. Collusion (there was none in this case)

2. Intentionally acting in bad faith. IE if he was trading away McCoy to spite the league. I think its clear he felt/feels he was acting in the best interest of the team (even if that is counter to the opinions of many others here).

Im the beneficiary of the trade and even I dont think it is as lopsided as some of you do. Is McCoy likely to outperform McKinnon by that much ROS? Is he really a more attractive prospect next year at age 30?

Regardless of who is better/collusion blah blah... I don't think anyone who has made it known that they are leaving the league should be trading assets. Especially under the guise of "giving the new owner building pieces".

Which is precisely the reason why I haven't been trading. I'll let the league/new owner decide what to do with my squad next year.

I didn't know you took a vote. My bad.

I have no plans on playing in a league with people I'm not friends with, I thought we were all friends (as close as friends could be on an internet bbored), but it was recently made abundantly clear that I am not friends with some members of this league. On the bright side, having assets from my team should make it easier for you guys to find replacements. You can redraft from FBN and mine, or kick MedSky out and have 3 teams to draft from.

We're getting the league back together!

Also fine... but we may need a future rule change, you declare you're leaving all roster moves need a owner majority vote for league integrity.

If it is the consensus decision to reverse the trade I would go along with it. I dont think that is the case though.

I want the league to continue and be healthy. I agree that a rule for future instances could be helpful.

Mobb, when Gary tried to quit a couple of years back because a couple of people were upset about his freeloading, I had to make a similar point to him.....This is a league of 12 people, which means it's a league of 144 varying relationships. If it's our expectation that all 144 relationships will be good at all times, that's an expectation that will lead to us all being disappointed.

You have friends here. Depending on the week or year, maybe it's 6 friends, maybe it's 10, or maybe it's 12.....but whatever that number is, those friends are the reason you stay. That should be enough. Even in my local leagues, I'm not tight with every single guy, but I keep playing because I like being in a league with the ones I am tight with. I consider you one of my friends here.

I entered the league as part of a three team entry draft. It looks like I will leave as part of a 3 team exit. Would have been nice to see how my team would have done next year with Rogers at qb and David Johnson back at rb.

Also...

If someone really is leaving, it's my view that they should keep operating their team (trades included) as they would if they are staying. Now there is some nuance, in that the owner should lean towards long term value over winning now, but they can't just stop making trades.

1. Missed opportunities for improvement this year end up costing next year's owner.

2. When teams are paralyzed and unwilling to make moves, it damages the current season for the current owners. And if we damage too many "this seasons", then there won't be too many "next seasons"

Nothing to do with you. We're cool, and have far fewer political differences than you might imagine. To be honest, a lot of this has to do with the tone and overall negativity of the GC itself. It used to be fun to rant back and forth. It's just seems to have taken a darker turn recently, with a few people (on both sides of the aisle) hijacking every thread and tossing personal insults back and forth.

As we've discussed over email, a lot of it comes down to the amount of effort I put into being the commish for however many years, with little to no appreciation from my league mates, let alone the guy who was supposed to be my "co-commish". But I digress, what broke the camels back was the Gronk ordeal, and edjr continuously suggesting that if was some sort of retaliation for me "stealing" Rob Kelley, which I did nothing of the sort.

haven't you been paying attention?

I will keep this thing going if it's just me and neckbeard

I like the idea of throwing all the players from the leaving teams into a pool and having a draft.

1. The trade makes perfect sense for both parties if both parties were remaining in the league. So in the surface the trade is more than fair. A win now RB for an RB who maybe has some potential and that owner believes in him. Where the trade loses me is the declaration of wanting to add assets and make the team more attractive for the new owner... we dont know how that person feels at all about mckinnon. This is more of a personal trade for the current owner, imo.

2. Friends? (Jim mora voice) Frieeeennnds? I dont know a single one of you. I consider myself friendly with all of you, as friendly as I can be with people with whom my interactions are limited to a low rent message board. Some of you I consider myself more friendly with because we interact more (ed, pat.. wait he left right?, CBF) and that's mostly because we take part in golF drafts and usually chat in similar topics. Hell, I used to not be able to stand Ed but now I consider myself to be pretty tight with him.

So I can't imagine what lack of friendship would deter someone from staying in an FF league.

I left a dynasty this past year because some people were legit pricks and if that is the case then do what you have to do but friends versus not friends? Sheesh

And I don't date little bitch sized men, who wouldn't dare call me a cheater to my face IRL. So we definitely wouldn't work out.
