I Exercised My 2nd Amendment Rights today

Recommended Posts

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

These are the first weapons I have ever bought. It was pretty easy, but then again I've never committed a crime and am a legal citizen so YMMV

I picked out two guns a Ruger American 30.06 with a vortex scope and a Beretta Px4 storm .40

The guy at the counter was super helpful all he needed my driver's license and SS#. I also had to fill out a form for a back ground check. Again I'm not an idiot criminal and everything came out ok

Then my guns where taken to a check out counter where another person rung me up and double checked the paper work. Then someone else came over and double checked his double check so it was a triple check.

I bought some ammo and walked out with my firearms same day.

All in all a pretty good experience. It did take some time but nothing too bad. I also didn't realize when you purchase a handgun you have 30 days to register it with your local police Dept. I went straight to the station and dropped off my paper which was also pretty easy.

In conclusion buying a firearm in my experience was pretty easy however there seems to be a lot of paperwork involved most of which I didn't have to do.

Well I hope you are going to get training with your new firearms and practice with them regularly at the range. There is a huge responsibility that comes with owning a firearm and if you are not trained you can be a danger to everyone.

100% agree. I'm going to the range tomorrow with some Army friends to get some hands on training. I also plan on taking a CCP class

Responsible gun owners are a huge asset to America, we need more of them!

Don't have one, don't need one.....but congrats on the purchase. Have you figured out who will misuse it in the house and kill you with it yet? :)

Making a CCP class mandatory would be my big gun control issue. Good man.

I thought there was a mandatory wait time before receiving delivery of a firearm.

Something about a "cool down" time to avoid crimes of passion.

Dunno...

If I remember correctly, that's a state law in several states, not everywhere.

What shithole state do you live in that you have to register your handgun?

For the same reason we need responsible drunks who don’t get behind the wheel when intoxicated.

Maybe we need fewer guns and drunks?

But for the sake of argument, how many guns do you think are enough? Like our bloated military, private gun ownership in the US far outstrips the rest of the civilized world.

This is :music_guitarred: to my :walkman:

Overpopulation really is the root of all evil. Problem is, alcohol and guns aren't killing people fast enough.

Today's run:

1.5mi

Distance
15:30
Moving Time
10:04/mi

In Feb before my surgery this was what I was running:

1.5mi
Distance
14:13
Moving Time
9:13/mi

When I'm in "shape" I'm right around 7:50ish mile

In high school, the entire soccer team had to finish 2 1/2 miles (around the track) in under 20 mins or we had to run more.

that was to start practice

Thats pretty fast for a casual runner. How many days a week do you run?

Even more impressive for a disabled veteran with a history of various knee, neck and shoulder injuries.
