I see your point, but the difference remains that prostitution is illegal regardless (except vegas). Being convicted of prostitution and prostitution near a church seems like double jeopardy to me.

I can actually understand the intent behind that. Houston has something like this where you can't have a strip club within I don't know a thousand feet or something like from a school. The idea behind it I'm pretty sure is it's one thing if you want to go to the Shady Side of Town out by the airport and get your jerk on, it's another thing to be a little kid and not be able to avoid that kind of environment. Same thing with church doors, they don't want that s*** around them. Frankly, it's not a whole lot different than its own kind of zoning law.

When I was a teenager, I worked on various political campaigns as a volunteer and got to stay at hotels for various candidates. I went to Grand Rapids for Ronna Romney's Michigan Republican National Chairman campaign and fantasized about being sexually abused by the candidate. Alas, no such luck.

 

I also got a three day stay on Mackinac Island with the Jack Kemp Presidential campaign and downtown Detroit with a local state senator, I could have just as well commuted for that one.

 

No pervs (but "the Robertson People" were really creepy) and it was all a really cool civics lesson. I wonder if in today's environment, kids can still do this sort of thing.
