  1. We've been around for 23 years and a solid 6-7 core owners are still active! Our online home is on CBS and we have owners now stretched from Omaha to Atlanta with a few in between and our central headquarters is based in St. Louis. We get as many locals together as possible for draft day and the others join us in the online draft room. Scoring is liberal but yet not out of control with QBs getting 6pts per TD. Defenses are scored on numerous categories such as FF, Sacks, INTs, Returns and Points Against. We do not use IDP nor do we have any goofy rules to abide by and are a redraft league. We shoot for 12 teams every year and have only had to go with 10 teams twice in the past 23 years. Entry fee is $125 and payouts are excellent with last year's Super Bowl winner pocketing over $700. Playoffs guarantee your entry fee back+ and other categories are also paid out. Owners range from late 20s to late 40s (maybe a couple 50+s too!), with a few musicians, cigar and craft beer aficionados and Mac users. No obnoxious guys, no idiots and some who enjoy the art of trading make this a very cool league that won't cause you heartburn but is good for a few crass insults. Live draft will be held the last week of August, generally those last 2-3 hours. If you're at all interested in a solid league with some sharp owners and a great track record, the Gateway National Football League would like to have you. Just let me know and I can shoot you the League Constitution for your review. My e-mail is scotta1a@live.com

I believe i just messed up my draft

I had similar issues with 4 QBs going in the first round (Brees, Brady, PManning & Rivers) so I was able to grab MJD and Larry Fitz in rounds 1 & 2 (I had the #6 slot). I didn't wait too long however and drafted Warner in the 5th round. I'm squeamish on Kurt's age/health so I nabbed EManning in the 9th round. Not real sold on Eli but he at least is semi-solid. Garrard and Cutler were taken just before I got to Eli so I missed them. You just have to try and avoid the 'buyer's remorse' and wait until you have an issue to make unnecessary moves.

    # 1 Pick Delima in PPR Redraft League

I've got the #1 and sought advice here on it as well and I am struggling with the exact statement you made above. LT is coming off a torn MCL with no surgery, only 6 100yd games and three multi-TD games, plus he just turned the dreaded 30. Combine that with a less-than-healthy Antonio Gates and no Lorenzo Neal? Makes me worried to draft LT2 as an overall #1. If I draft Brady at #1, figuring someone like RBush, LWhite, MTurner will be my top RB pick in the second round. Supplement that with the next pick and I'd be looking at a solid WR or another RB like Thomas Jones, maybe Maroney. Would someone like Joe Addai be more of a gamble at the overall #1?
  4. I'm a new owner in an established 10-team redraft league and I think they've thrown me a bone by giving me the #1 draft slot. I'm a 20+year fantasy football vet, been in over 100 leagues and have only had the first choice approximately 10 times, keeping it everytime. Question: Keep it or move down? Will LT continue to be injury free? Can SJax or Addai put up similar numbers? Should Brady be grabbed at #4 as the Pats' offense won't change much? Are picks 1, 20 & 21 better than picks 4, 17 & 24? Thanks

Do I dare sit Willie Parker this week? (Playoff Game)

The Steeler O-line isn't really moving people and Willie keeps running into the wall without bouncing it outside. Why, I don't know, but he's killin' me. He sits this week. If he can't run against Cincy, he can run against nobody. FWP isn't F anymore. Fargas will be a much better option. Heck, I plan on starting CBrown instead of Parker.

    To My Fellow Commissioners

I'm right there with you guys. I've run my league for the past six years and must say this year has been the one which has made me want to walk away. We don't have a policy of the league voting on every trade so you can imagine the fits some boys will throw when the commish makes a deal. I made one which I ended up taking a bath on, but the initial firestorm it caused and the personal insults which flew really turned me sour on this stuff. Deal in question? Two days before the season kicked off back in September I traded LBetts, KevJones, LColes & JWilkins for Ronnie Brown, IBruce & Vinatieri. Accusations of owner collusion, backroom deals, etc, were all over the place. To be honest, I was glad when RBrown went down with an ACL. A couple other trades muddied the waters in our league this year, luckily they didn't involve me, but it was bad enough. That, along with the whole thing about guys complaining about their scores (we use CBS, so it's automated) has taken it's toll on me and I'm done after this season.

What a meltdown by the Ravens

Yup, ol' Rex was calling the TO. Obviously, he's proven the fact he over-coached the situation, over-managed his defense and clearly did not trust his defense. If he had just trusted the D, the Ravens stoned Brady and would have had the ball with 1:41 left. Rex cannot control everything even though there are coaches/managers in pro sports who believe they can (Tony LaRussa, Mike Shanahan, etc..) and by calling that timeout when your defense is amped up to stop the Pats, he totally took the teeth out of his team.

    Mercury Morris

MERCURY MORRIS IS THE FRIGGIN' BOSS!! He's ready to take a wife in the New England Patriots, what's wrong with that. Of course they'll be the wife because they were cheating blatantly and were caught, so the cloud of being perfect isn't really with Belichick. Mercury Morris rules and what he says is the truth!
  9. The only thing he's doing "FAST" anymore is knocking me out of playoff contention. Last night I got to sit and watch my team's two biggest frustrations as he and Palmer played like mule dung. These two guys, who were 2 of my first 3 picks, have definitely lost their "stud" reference and I'll be sitting them both, even though Palmer plays StL next week. I'm lucky I even have a shot at the playoffs with these two slugs taking up starting spots all season. Since when did Pittsburgh become such a passing team? I guess since they found out Willie Parker can't do it without The Bus. Last year's mirage of 16 TDs was a fluke, but it suckered me into drafting him.

    D

I had a lead on Brady and the Pats D of 81 a few weeks ago....and I lost. I am there with you, it will take an act of God to stop the Golden Boy!! Good luck, let's hope the winds knock down all of the passes to D.Mason!!!

    Carson Palmer Sucks

Agree with almost all of you. Palmer has stunk up the joint all year with his lack of accuracy. Here I thought I was drafting a solid QB with my third round pick, someone who would be as he had in the past...CONSISTENT!! But what do I get instead? Friggin' Jake Plummer in a Bengals uniform!! I'm picking up Garrard and will take my chances with him for this last upcoming week. Can't do any worse.

***Official What Do You Need on MNF Thread***

Man, I'm with you!! I need Mason to score less than 8 but less than 6 would take a little edge off. I guess I'll be rooting for the Pats for the first time this year!!!!

Sick of Pats Running It Up?

Jaws had a good thought about handling the Pats. Run your safeties or quick LBs up to heavily chuck the Pats WRs and rush seven up the middle on Brady. With the initial line push, the blitzers keep their hands up to deflect the quick, one-step drop pass Brady will attempt. Meanwhile, Moss, Stallworth and Welker get hammered on the outside for the allowable 5 yards. Maybe it would work, maybe it wouldn't, but it beats giving the Pats WRs a 5-10 yard cushion and only rushing 4 while sitting back in 'react mode'.

See what happens when P. Manning has no weapons.

Montana and Brady by themselves? Otto Graham won seven championships and led his teams to 10 consecutive championship games. I think both of these guys need to take a backseat to Otto. Apparently the only litmus test to determine if a QB is 'great' or not is the number of championships they participated in. Since narrow minded people believe this, Otto Graham is head and shoulders above Tom Brady and Montana.

See what happens when P. Manning has no weapons.

It's retarded to say any QB does it all by themselves. It's a team game. The MOST team-oriented game of any sport. The Pats have had better TEAMS than the Colts, that is the reason why they won those games. It is not a 1on1 matchup. I haven't seen Brady make any interceptions or sacks but I have seen Richard Seymour and Rodney Harrison do it. I doubt if Brady had anything to do with that unless he was running the illicit tapes to his DC. I've never seen Manning make 10 tackles a game either but I have seen Rob Morris do it. This isn't tennis or golf or some individual sport, it takes an entire roster to win these games. Only tools believe it's Brady v. Manning.
