Your favorite all time athletes from each sport. Home team and out of town

Nothing against Jeter, he was raised in Michigan, but no. I'm talking about THE Captain.

Ooooh, Don Mattingly? Nice.

I want Alex Ovechkin to win a Stanley Cup so bad it hurts. :ninja:

That quest will end this years chance tonight.

No pro teams in my city. So I'll go with favorite player from my favorite team / favorite player from another team.

NFL- Emmitt Smith / Sterling Sharpe and Isaac Bruce and Michael Vick and Bo Jackson all tied
MLB- George Brett / Chipper Jones
NBA- Magic Johnson / Michael Jordan

Barry sanders. Joe Montana

Shaq. The greek freak

Dino Ciccareli

Shaqs my favorite athlete overall. He just looks like a big fun kid. Smart guy. Good investor and one of the rare few that excel even after they retire.

Growing up in Orlando, Shaq screwed over the Magic and he's a big goofy moron. I have no reason to like him.

However, I have to say everyone I've ever known who met Shaq.... from valets to waiters to idiot friends who happened to meet him, all said the same thing... "What an incredibly nice guy." Tipped EVERYONE working $100 no matter what. Took pictures with anyone, even though some were scumbags.

On the flip side, when I was valet parking back in the day I remember some of my fellow valet workers said Penny Hardaway showed up in his fancy car in downtown Orlando and got pissed off because the cost was $20. He reportedly drove around the block a few times before coming back to the valet. Didn't tip when he left. Complete a-hole.

Hockey didnt exist in the south when I was a kid. I just never watched it. Sorry.

Its a legit sport. Im not saying otherwise. I just never really had a chance to get into it as a youth, and havent as an adult. Live it may be the best sport. Im not a huge fan on tv.

Holy Hell, I use to despise Chris Chelios when he was with the Blackhawks. I only warmed to him, and warmed greatly, when he joined the Wings.

My wife is from Chicago and was a huge Chelios fan. I had to go to multiple Avs/Redwings games with her in her focking Redwings Chelios jersey. Ugh.

Man, I was a fan of him way before he became a Red Wing. Was hoping that would count for something and be allowed  . In the conversation of Greatest American Born hockey player ever.

 For a good stretch there, Wings/Avs was as good as it gets. I still hate most of those fockers. probably all of them. claude the POS focking turtle, Mike Keane, Roy, Foote, Deadmarsh, Chris Simon, Forsberg. I am embarrassed for focking ray bourque that he a) had to leave Boston to get a Cup; and B- that he did it with the ###### avalanche.

I was pissed at how Barry left the team haning when he retired. It was piss poor timing. I eventually got over it, but maybe I should change my answer to Speilman too.

I remember Speilman stuffing Emmitt on the goal line four times in a row en route to winning a MNF game in 1994. That was awesome.

That's the time I became a hockey fan. Before that I would root for the Northstars but never got into it. The late 90s were a good time to be a sports fan in Colorado. My cousin is the same age as Roy's son and played on a traveling team with him. No in person sports moment is cooler than seeing Roy beat the deadwings live in triple overtime and then seeing him at my cousin's hockey game the next day. Valery Kamensky was an assistant coach on the team. Dude smoked like a chimney. Completely crazy that he was an elite athlete.

Charles Woodson - Eric Moulds

Brodeur - Hasek

Khalil Mack

Not much in the way of hometown with NBA or MLB but some of my favorites would be Jeter/Mo Riveria MJ/KG/Allen Houston

Lafontaine/Chelios

Modano/Leetch

Even if you argue the order of these, who else do you include that might bump Chelios down?

LaFontaine's career was too short, sadly, to compare to Chelios.

Brett Hull or Patrick Kane?
