Veterans not getting benefit checks

I honestly dont understand why we can't recruit "x" number of our best CEOs and 'fix' the VA.

We need to basically privatize it. I don't mean from a funding standpoint. But we need to stop appointing political appointees to fix this disaster.

Hell, I know United Way literally drafts major Executives from the biggest and best companies in America. They get a 1-year or whatever commitment from these people who are paid by their employers for that year.

Don't tell me we can fix this. If we can't run Amazon, we sure as hell can fix the VA. Even if we have to break it into a dozen constituent parts. I know we have the smartest Executives on the planet. I just don't understand why we can't turn this around.

Bottom line, anything we allow the government to "own" or operate will not be run well at all.

I won't overly disagree. But that's why I suggest a hybrid. Bring in non-governmental Executives to fix the situation. Give them enough Authority and autonomy to do so.

A hybrid might work, I would be afraid that any governmental involvement might stymie innovation, creativity and action.

The B-2, the space shuttle, the F-22,

I'm just saying, sometimes we can make it work pretty God damn good. If we just have the will to do so.

I believe contractors held the helm on those efforts. Companies like General Dynamics, Lockheed, Northrom and many others exist because they do work for the government that they simply cannot do themselves. Contractors are held to a decently high standard, reasonably high IMHO, and they are able to achieve it because they are not saddled with all of the obstacles of government. The govy's know this.

I have worked closely with a range of agencies, some are better than others, but all lack a willingness to excel.

The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft developed for the United States Air Force (USAF).

Delays, technical glitches and huge cost overruns in the Air Force's F-22 fighter jet program highlight the Pentagon's broken procurement process.

The Northrop (later Northrop Grumman) B-2 Spirit, also known as the Stealth Bomber, is an American heavy penetration strategic bomber.

On January 28, 1986, the NASA shuttle orbiter mission STS-51-L and the tenth flight of Space Shuttle Challenger (OV-99) broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, killing all seven crew members, which consisted of five NASA astronauts and two payload specialists.
