tanatastic 2,061 Posted May 25, 2015 Day 1: Just landed on the island of Kauai. The weather is overcast but still warm. No big plans for the day, getting married on the beach tomorrow. I'll be on a mission to find those chocolate macadamia nut things people always bring over from here. Pacific Islanders are interesting. Like a perfect mix of Chinese and Mexican. BunnysBastatrds 1,913 Posted May 25, 2015 If you find a necklace with a funny looking head on it, make sure your future bride wears it.
Djgb13 2,338 Posted May 25, 2015 You need to have better things to do than posting here I dunno. I might check in on you guys when I'm in Jamaica. I won't be posting nearly as much but in my room at night we have wifi so after sex with the wife I might chat a little with you boys. Also it'll be football season so I'll have to do a little tinkering with my lineup
jerryskids 5,192 Posted May 25, 2015 Where in Kauai? North shore (Hanalei Bay, Princeville)? South shore (Poipu beach)? Both are nice in different ways.

jerryskids 5,192 Posted May 25, 2015 North shore although we are going all over the damn island for various things. 45 min drives left and right. Cool. Wife and I stayed in a B&B near Hanalei Bay; it was awesome. Lots of great hikes and exploring through lush rainforest. If you golf, Princeville is a must. If nothing else go have drinks at the Princeville bar at sunset; the view is spectacular. Hopefully you are not reading this and are instead balls deep into your new bride. Voltaire 4,556 Posted May 26, 2015 I guess it's too late since you already made plans and took the trip but for anybody else curious: they perform gay weddings in the continental US now so you don't need to spend all that money to go to Hawaii.
tanatastic 2,061 Posted May 26, 2015 Day 2: Had to tell the new wife to hold up on the celebration, I have to post on the geek club. Anyway we had a bomb as breakfast at this Ono family restaurant. Epic corned beef hash omelet. The ceremony could not have been better. We didn't have anyone there, just us and the wedding people. We were on an amazing beach and the sunset and damn was it nice. No monkey suit for me, just khakis and a white collar shirt and sandals, traditional Hawaiian stuff. Tellin u, that horsecrap wedding stuff on tv with a million people there and stuffy getups is for the birds. Private beach wedding is the way to go.

tanatastic 2,061 Posted May 27, 2015 Day 3: we drove 2hrs and saw a really spectacular canyon lookout. Then we went on an awful boat tour. The crew was great but choppy waters and I was absolutely seasick as a dog. Miserable 4 hrs on a boat and finally got done and was exhausted. Never going on a long small boat ride again. Day 4 is last day in Kauai.

Day 4 is last day in Kauai. Waimea Canyon? That is a beautiful hike, sort of a mini Grand Canyon feel. I was going to suggest that but it is a long haul from the North Shore; I think you have to drive all the way around the island to get there. We went from the South Shore which was much closer. Funny you mention the boat ride -- the only time I remember getting motion sick was a boat tour up the west side of Kauai. I don't think I've ever been sick on a boat any other time, and I've been in much worse waves. But something about that particular motion had me sick to my stomach. I used the trick of staring forward at the horizon which kept me from puking the whole time, but it was anything but fun.
tanatastic 2,061 Posted May 31, 2015 Day 4 we took an awesome tubing tour through cool caves. Then we flew to the big island. Day 5 we took a 12 hr tour around the entire island. Day 6 we stayed poolside and just had a killer luau. The food has been great and Marriott had an amazing fire dancer performance. Really surprised how great the food has been, i had heard it's not the best. Both islands in had nothing but awesome meals.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted May 31, 2015 Wish i had come over to the dark side a few days ago. I went to kauai for my honeymoon. We stayed on the far south side at the grand haiit. The place was beyond words it was so amazing. Pretty much any food you eat, as you now know, is amazing. There are two places i recommend. The first is Puka Dog. Hands down the beat hot dog i have ever had in my life. Second is Kiokis. Its actually right next to Puka Dog and has some great prices on food if you go at the right time. Their calamari was really good. Plus their chocolate volcano cake is one of the coolest cakes i have seen.

The sweet mustard and sauce they put on it was out of this world. Also the Hawaiian bread bun was so good I'm now going to look into using it back home. Maybe cut the dog in half and put it on 2 of those kings Hawaiian sweet rolls.
