Your favorite arcade game, online game and board game: whatchu got?

Recommended Posts

Favorite arcade game was probably Asteroids or maybe one called Jackal (you rush around in a jeep destroying bad guys and picking up POWs).

Favorite online game was Battlefield 1942 followed closely by Battlefield Bad Company 2. So many hours spent on those games. BF42: Loading up German Kubelwagen with dynamite and driving it into a crowd of plane campers, jumping out and as it coasts up to the crowd you blow it up. Wingtipping people (flying low to ground and killing them with blunt force trauma) was fun too. Bad Comp 2 and it's introduction of Destruction 2.0 (bringing down a building/wall on someone) was fantastic.

Board game: Monopoly. Duh......

Arcade Game - Gauntlet

Online Game - World of Warcraft

Board Game - Risk*

*In the "Typical" Sense - Board Games are pretty damn diverse these days. We love HP: Hogwarts Battle and X-Wing Miniatures in my house...

Favourite arcade game is between Track and Field and 720 (degrees), it was a skateboarding game and the local 7-11 had it set too easy and I could play forever on a quarter. I loved that game.

Board game is Risk. Stratego is another good one and I love playing Sorry with my daughter.

Online game, I don't really have one but if computer game works it's easily Age of Empires 2. Best game ever imo and I love the relaxing music.

AOE was great.

Did you ever play against another person and use the taunts? I remember those were awesome. You're all building up stress towards battle then you send one of the taunts (Tarzan yell, Pulp Fiction gun shot followed by "Oh, I'm sorry......did I disturb you?" with Samuel L.

I played with my best friend but never knew how to do any taunts. It was dial up internet and him and I would play one on one from whatever that AOE site was. I was never any good so when I finally found his people I'm thinking I'm gonna kick his ass with my 7 Paladans and I would get blown to smithereens from his cannons as I'm wacking away at his fortified brick wall.

Also, you Risk fans need to check out some of the newer European board games. In general, they involve less luck and a lot more strategy than conventional games.

Risk is basically the same game every time, save the randomness of rolling dice.

Arcade game: I was a teen in the 80s when your favorite game was whatever the local corner store had. There were great ones like Space Invaders, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Pac Man, but I'd say I spent the most time on Asteroids. If you knew the trick of getting it down to one slow moving rock and flying up (and around) to shoot the space ships, you could play for a long time on a quarter.

Online: Never really played any. :dunno:

Board: Scrabble. Wife and I still play it consistently. I've never come close to finishing Risk. Heck, I'm not sure I ever finished Monopoly. Other than Scrabble as a family we usually do card games like Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity.

Gin rummy and some Iranian card games. Put 2 decks in and a few players can play. Pretty traditional after dinner with tea to cap off the night.

Speaking arcade games I was literally playing one earlier. My sister and BIL have one of those classic arcade games in their house. It has like 60 games on it so I was playing Pac-Man, Galaga, Donkey Kong, etc in it. Dont have to put quarters in anymore!

Those things are sweet. They look just like those big arcade games and play exactly like them but have multiple games on them and you dont have to put quarters in.

Used to play WOW all the time. Started playing when I was in the Air Force and got my wisdom teeth taken out. Also played when I got into that bad wreck and had to be in bed for a while on pain killers. Nothing else to do but play that. Was fun as hell. South Park turned me onto it and my buddy also played so that helped out. Started playing when the Litch King was about to come out

Played Cards Against Humanity last night. Nothing quite like having your teenage daughter read "my huge peemus and substantial fortune."
