At home workout equipment

Recommended Posts

I went a good year without lifting one single weight. I just couldn't do the gym scene anymore. But I felt like absolute sh!t.

I don't have a crazy amount of space downstairs, and the ceilings are a little low. So I can't get a whole big station with the butterfly rods.

I ended getting the Bowflex adjustable dumbbells. And an elliptical machine.

So far so good, but it feels like a lot of workouts are missing from my routine.

Anybody have any recommendations on additional (smaller) equipment to supplement basic workout needs? Any specific routines you do?

I just can't do home workout. I need a gym membership. I would invest in the T 25 DVD set just for the core workout.

I have the new PS4pro workout machine. I went from a six pack to a case in like 7 months.

You can probably just do body weight exercises to keep in shape

I mostly do HIIT and crossfit at a gym, and hiking these days, but I have PowerBlocks which I've used quite a bit in the past.

https://www.amazon.com/PowerBlock-Personal-Trainer-Set-Dumbbell/dp/B000NWTX6W

I have something similar to this link which also goes up to 50 lbs; you can get up to 90 but it is quite a bit more expensive. Also you can update after the fact. Also you can probably find them used for cheaper, although I'd want them pretty close to mint if I bought something like this used.

Regarding workouts, I usually did a modified EMOM (every minute on the minute) except I did 40 seconds instead of a minute. Somewhere between 24 and 32 total sets. 4-6 different exercises.

You can do a ton with some resistance bands.

https://www.amazon.com/Tribe-11pc-Resistance-Band-Set/dp/B01IL6A0I6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529777739&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=resistance+bands+with+handle&psc=1

Something like that.. had some heavier bands for more.

You can even take them on the road with you.

That shlt is too much. Unless someone is training to be an athlete, it's pointless. T25 is much more practical. The alpha core workout is perfect

I usually just pump out a couple of sets on your mom and call it a day.

Like I said it was intense. I loved it. For older guys though youre right it wouldnt be too good for them. Especially on their knees

Second T25...I supplement cardio and core unit when I need breaks from running.

Unless you want to get huge, those adjustable dumbbells should be fine.

Dust collectors. Most people need to be pushed and have structure or they get lazy.

Describes me exactly. I try to do a 15-20 minute walk in the evenings. Thinking about getting a exercise bike. My job keeps my strong, but my cardio is shot.

Oof... I misread the OP and saw Bowflex blah blah... apparently they have dumbbells like the ones I posted. So forget my advice. :bench:

Yup. I get an inury and use it as an excuse to take way more time off from working out than I should. Sh!t is hard and only fun in stretches. I'm in a lazy stage now. Can't seem to get motivated. Comes and goes

Took longer than I thought.

I have a rebuilt shoulder that will get in a bad place if I don't constantly exercise it, so that is my main motivation.

Yep, between risk of injury and maintaining novelty/interest level, it's tough to keep in shape as you get older. I burnt out on weightlifting long ago, cycling more recently, and have plateaued climbing too. I think you have to do a variety of things to preserve fitness into middle age and beyond. Home work outs tend to be pretty boring.

Ditto although I find Ben Wa balls add something to the work out. She is a dirty one.

That's part of why I like our gym. You don't go to our gym unless you want to be in shape. So most of the women are hardbodies and I have plenty to fantasize about.

That being said, the wife and I have really gotten into hiking. This is the first Sunday we haven't gone in months (we slept in, and you need to get out early in the Phoenix summer). The trails near us range from medium to hard and from 50 minutes to 3+ hours (won't be doing these latter ones in the summer most likely). We find that it isn't just great exercise but cathartic for the mind as well.

Yeah, hiking is good. If you find a secluded enough area, it’s a good chance to explore your wild side. Swimming holes tend to put some women in the mood.

I've been tossing out subtle feelers for a top of the mountain romp. And by subtle I mean not subtle. So far no luck, but I'm viewing it as a marathon not a sprint. Eventually she'll say fine, if it shuts you up I'll throw you a quickie. And it will be magical. :D

A year or so back, my fiancée took a boat across lake taal in the Philippines. Climbed the mountain to the top of the volcano. You can go down into the crater to a beautiful crater lake with a nice beach and all.

I tried to talk her into going down there and fooling around. Wouldnt hear of it. What about the guide?

Ill skip him a few hundred pesos. Tell him to go back to the village and have a couple beers, we will catch up with him there.

But hell know what were doing!

So?

just make up a workout routine like crossfit and then have people need to get certified in your workout to open their own gyms

Bring a lightweight blanket in your backpack. Few chicks really like getting down and dirty. That’s why water features tend to work better.
