Sadly for us working stiffs, they take our taxes out before we even get a chance to fock them.

The best option is becoming a waiter or bartender at places that receive a lot of cash

The one you didn't mention is the one that drives me the most nuts: Property Taxes.

I get the concept in theory. But seeing as how the majority of property taxes go to schools? Why the fuk am I paying for your child care? At a minimum, those that breed should have to pay a per child extra Mill Levy and reduce property taxes on those that don't breed. Just like having a boat or a dog, it's a luxury that you choose. I shouldn't have to supplement your lifestyle choice.

Moreover, property taxes made sense back in the day. But now that more and more of us live in situations where we're paying for our own water, our own trash pickup, snow removal, Landscaping, Etc it makes less and less sense. Especially in places that impose Municipal income taxes.

I'm not saying eliminate it entirely. But it is in no way near a fair tax.

It basically goes to supplement those who do the least for the economy while sucking the most out of it.

If nothing else, at least eliminate property taxes for people 60 and above. Subsidize that by increasing property taxes on per child basis.

Our property taxes went up 25% because our county voted to build a new middle school and we've never had kids, had to pay $6500 in property taxes this year.

Not to mention it is such unmitigated bullshit. 2 identical houses built the same year with the same features right next door to each other can be valued entirely differently. You're a fool if you don't go down every couple of years and protest your valuation. The worst you have to lose is an afternoon. Literally, they're just pulling a number out their ass.

Property and school taxes are for the betterment of society. Did you go to a public school? Step up and pay your fair share.

And you gotta love the valuations. When I had my house, anybody who showed up at my door with a check in their hand for the valuation the county put on it could have it and everything in it, right then and there. No way in hell you find a real buyer to pay that.

While you are obviously right to a large degree, it has gotten absurd.

Property owners, childless ones included, pay taxes on property so that people with kids (even those who rent and thus dont really pay property tax) get free child care. Usually two, often three meals a day in some places.

And then the fockers get to deduct the cost of any after school child care they pay, AND get a tax credit for spawning the useless brat in the first place.

If the Republican Party would ever actually start practicing what they preach and cut government to the focking bone, Id get behind it.

In general, taxes dont bother me. I feel like my pay is pretty arbitrary, as is the amount Im taxed. As long as I can afford the geek club lifestyle, who am I to complain?

That being said, we were penalized this year for not withholding enough. I dont b!tch about paying tens of thousands of dollars in taxes per year, but fvck, make the bill due every paycheck if youre gonna charge me extra to pay on time in April. Or warn me Im not withholding enough, rather than tacking on a surprise penalty on tax day.

That is the arrogant bullsh!t of it to me. Were not going to calculate what you owe us. Spend several hours or several

Hundred dollars to figure it out for yourself peon. I mean, the internal revenue code and its associated regulations would only fill several bookshelves and all.

Me and my wife’s pay have been relatively stable the last few years, as has the amount we pay. Never been penalized before. Maybe it’s the new tax code?

We should be able to decide how our tax money is spent. There should be a form where we can allocate certain amounts to different services, for example:

25% schools

25% infrastructure

20% military

20% firemen/police

10% politicians

0% welfare

I would feel better if I could pick where my money went.

The new tax code wasn't in effect for last year's income, correct?

Not a particularly efficient method. Some sectors of government would have way too much money. Others would have none.

Not to mention he's mixing apples and barracudas.

You going to tell the county assessor you want part of your property taxes to go to the military?

Yeah good luck telling the Feds that you want part of your income taxes going to the firemen.

Did you get hit with AMT? I get a boatload taken out and still owed over $3k due to AMT.

The taxes for schools even if you don't have kids is worth it because the one of biggest factors in home valuations ends up being the quality of the schools.

Now, all of the other BS welfare for having kids is stupid and wasteful.

That's an abbreviation for "Amount". It's the last line on everybody's tax return. Duh.

I didn’t think so, but have no other good explanation why we’d get penalized this year only, when everything else is relatively constant,

That's why I propose a baseline amount for all homeowners, but a per child surcharge for all actual breeders.

Also even if you never had kids and didnt go to public school yourself, you dont want to live in a society of uneducated morons.

No. But we owed over 15K on tax day.

Wow thats crazy. Did you up your exemptions or something? I claim none even though I could have like 3 or 4, just so I dont get hit with a huge bill. A couple grand is fine but 15...ouch!

I do my own taxes, so I do a comparison from last year to the current year and see if I missed anything. I would start there to see why, if all other factors are the same, you owed significantly more in taxes.
