I Miss Living in The 70's

I was in 1st grade in 1970. Cool decade. One of my old neighbors started a face book page for our old neighborhood. People have posted old pictures, mostly from the 1970's. One thing I noticed about the pictures: everyone was so fockin skinny back then (everyone had long hair too). No fatties. Our parents would pile 10 kids into the station wagon and drive us to the beach. Much bigger families and much smaller houses back then.

Which one are you? Danny or Keith?
  6. Whats the deal with Newton's attitude? Any Carolina fans please chime in. I know he hates losing and walks away from reporters after losses. Is that the worst of it? Do any ex teammates hate him? He won the Walter Payton man of the year award once. So, you would think he is a good citizen. Just asking as a Pats fan who never really payed too much attention to Newton. He seems like he works his butt off. Which is the same reason why Belichick could put up with Gronk's clowning around. His fashion doesn't bother me. Brady, wore some pretty gay outfits in his time too. The Patriots have turned the page on Brady and so have I. Its part of being a fan of a team. I was a Pats fan for 25 years of mostly misery before Brady was there and I'll still be one. I'm not sure if Newton will be a one year rental or not but there is nothing he has done to turn me off yet. Its funny I heard Brady talking about how he hates the cold and how he lived in cold weather for 25 years and he'll never go back and how his daughter hates the hot Tampa weather. But as far as football goes, Brady was a great cold weather quarterback and his worst games were always in the heat in Miami. Leaving the Pats may end up being the worst decision he ever made.

What Are Your Super Bowl Picks?

The Patriots escaped with a win? The Patriots were playing on the road. They also beat Chiefs in the regular season. The Patriots outgained them in yards: 524-290 First Downs: 36-18 Rushing Yards 176-41 Passing Yards 348 - 290 TOP: 43:59 to 20:52 The Patriots had 2 turnovers that let KC stay close. The Patriots completely dominated the line of scrimmage. That's not going to change over 10 games. With that same logic-The Ravens were the best team last year.

Explain how the Chiefs were technically on top for the last TWO years.

    The worst generation ever.

In the 70's The Bruins were a powerhouse with Bobby Orr. The Celtics won many Championships in the 70's and 80's. The Red Sox had good teams but lost in excruciatingly heart breaking ways ('75 series, '78 playoff game, and '86 series). The Pats had a couple of good teams '76 and '85 but they had really cheap ownership that led to mostly bad teams in the 70's and 80's. Thank God for Kraft!

    The worst generation ever.

I was born in 1964 so, I would be the last year of the baby boomers. Since, I was the youngest of 5 kids in my family and my father was a ww 2 combat veteran, I would probably be closer to the boomers than genx. But as my oldest brother (in the middle of the Boomers) grew up on the Mickey Mouse Club (the original), Leave it to beaver and Father knows best. I grew up with the Brady Bunch and the Partridge Family. Fast times at Ridgemont High was my time. It came out during my senior year of high school and reflected the times well. Lot of kids smoked pot, no worries about aids yet, and the big hangout spot was the Mall. I didn't wear a bike helmet, we left our doors unlocked (suburban Boston), I had my mouth washed out with soap, my dad spanked me (not too often), and I learned how to swim by my dad throwing me off a dock when I was 6. I am the boss of many millennials and I can't generalize the group as a whole. There was definitely a vocal Bernie Sanders support group at my place of work from the m's. But who knows what the silent m's thought. My politics is pretty moderate. As far as laziness goes, I can't really say the m's are lazier than previous generations. I think they are more distracted than other generations because there are more distractions in the world now.

    Ellen exposed

Epstein’s flight logs were posted online. Hanks was not on them. There used to be rumor that Bill Gates was on them. That was also false.

    Do you carry a knife?

Unless I'm camping, I don't generally carry a knife with me. But I remember when I was little one of my older brothers and his friends always wore buck knives in the cases attached to their belts. This topic just reminds me of a story concerning a buck knife. My brother and his friend were hitch hiking. This was in the 70's and they were like 14 or 15 years old. This guy picked them up and my brothers friend got in the front seat and my brother got in the back seat. My brothers friend was kind of short and they both had the 70's long hair. During the drive, the guy put his hand on the thigh of my brother's friend. They were in one of those 70's cars that had the bench style front seat. My brothers friend grabbed the guys wrist with his left hand and moved the guys hand to the part of the seat between them. With his right hand he took his buck knife and literally pinned the guys hand to the seat with one thrust. The guy pulled over and let them out. After I heard that story I never again asked my brother why he wore that buck knife everywhere.
  13. The last couple of years Chicago murders have been coming down pretty significantly. But this year could wipe it all out. The concern is the stupid idea of defunding the police or even cutting back at all. Talk about empowering the gangs.
  14. When I tried to do a search of the most murderous neighborhoods, Chicago neighborhoods did not show up. Baltimore dominated the list of most dangerous neighborhoods with 4 in the top 10: https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/blog/25-most-dangerous-neighborhoods The South Side of Chicago is not all bad. The West side is worse.
  15. I can see why you said St Louis. But Boston is not one of the top murder cities by any metric. This is one of the latest top 10 per capita murder lists I could find: 1. St Louis 2. Baltimore 3. Jackson, MS 4. Birmingham, AL 5. Detroit 6. New Orleans 7. Baton Rouge 8. Memphis 9. Kansas City 10. Newark
