Rodgers, to drop or stash?

Recommended Posts

So what is everyone doing with Aaron Rodgers? Lots of speculation with many thinking he'll miss ~ 8 weeks, which would put him back for the fantasy playoffs. But is it really worth burning a roster spot for the hope, that we'll make and advance far enough in the playoffs to make the hold of Rodgers worthwhile? On the flip side there would be few things worse that making it to the fantasy super bowl only to be beat by the same Rodgers we paid such a high draft pick for and dropped! Your thoughts?

I'm stashing for now and awaiting if there's any more clarification before outright dropping. Not feeling very confident about it though. I'd feel a lot better if the injury was to his non throwing shoulder. If you have an open IR spot and/or deep benches I would hold but I wouldn't blame anyone for dropping him.

Imagine you hang on to him all year. Then imagine you make the playoffs and he comes back that first playoff week. What happens if he sucks that first week back or doesnt throw much? Especially if the packers are out of contention. Oops.

I think I would hold. M

See how the Packers are doing.

If they start to slide I would drop him m

But right now I would hold.

I put him in the ir spot, (new this year to us). Dropping Clay for Mariota. Weird year for injuries. But I don't care if Rodgers comes back for me, just don't want him coming back against me

He's done. Cut or leave on waivers after he's cut.

Not sure why others are under some impression he will be playing again this year. As if the decision to keep him relies on what the packers record is. He’s not going to be throwing bombs on a surgically repaired shoulder.

In 2013 he missed 7 games and the injury was on his non throwing shoulder and didn’t need surgery. This is worse than that.

Packers homer and (former) Rodgers owner.

Dropped. Picked up Hundley. Hoping I don't need to ride the TryRod or Bortles Train this year.

Ya cut. Hope another playoff hopeful team picks him up and wastes a spot on him all year only to miss the play offs. Meanwhile you have one less person competing for waiver wire adds for a bench spot.

Thats fine but if you have another a guy with actual value get hurt, make sure Rodgers is first to cut to make new room on that IR.

Crud. On IR so that's 8 weeks with the earliest possible return week 15. That's the earliest. I hate to drop him and have him burn me in the playoffs (weeks 15 and 16). No matter how unlikely he makes it back, he could.

It's a 2-QB league. I had Rodgers with Cousins and Wentz and have since added Hundley. It's good that Cousins has already had his bye, now I'll use Hundley to cover Wentz and go on from them there. None have a good playoff schedule. GB is @Caro and Minny. Wash is Ari and Den. While Philly is @NYG and Oak. Of those, only Oakland is appealing.

I hate to drop a player like Rodgers and have come back to burn me, but it's not very likely he comes back and even less likely I can make it though IDP byes without dropping him.

Yes. I'm trying to convince myself to do it.

So, reports this morning say Rodgers can start throwing earlier than first thought and that he could be ready when available week 15.

Still ready to drop him and have him come back to beat you?

If you have a IR spot I would keep him.
