Corn on the Cob; do u have a special way of eating it ?

Recommended Posts

I love Silver Queen boiled for 15 minutes or so in water with a little milk and some butter and a dash of sugar.

But my question is do u eat from left to right, right to left, maybe just a swath going around and round.

Or maybe u have another way u eat it.

Possibly, you've never thought about your method .. if u have one.

I was having dinner recently with about 6-7 people. Everyone ate corn on the cob and I watched everyone eat it differently. Some all at one time, others would nibble some and set it down to eat other food.

Me with corn skewers, go left to right and back again like a serpentine fantasy draft. With the slightly smaller radius on the left.

ETA: sprinkle generously with salt and peppercorn mix and slather in real butter before eating

Stand it on one end and cut the corn off the cob.

Insert the entire cob down my throat then scrape the corn off with my teeth as I pull it out.

Left to right. My dad cooks it about the same way you described. The man can cook dam good. Corn down here is pretty cheap and dam good. There's a farm near where I grew up that sells corn and is pretty famous around here for their corn being the best around. They sell the silver queen but the guy who runs the farm went and got an agriculture degree from one of the big schools in NC. He crossbred until he developed his own special strain of corn. It's a sweet yellow corn but the kernels pop right off when you bite into it. And it's amazingly sweet. While shucking some a few weeks ago your hands would get sticky from the natural sugar coming from it. Even my wife, who's from Nebraska where corn is all they know, said it's the best corn she's ever had

Real butter, lots of salt and pepper. Eat it like one of those kids on TV with the flies on their mouths would, if they had butter or salt or pepper or corn.

I rotate it down vs across. Because I slather it in butter and salt, I feel like the across method takes off too much of that stuff above and below the row being eaten, due to ancillary contact with the lips.

My cooking method is similar.. I use more sugar and cook a little longer.

Eat it either left to right, or cut it off the cob

I'm sure it is just in my head but I think it tastes better this way.

Its preferential. Sometimes off the cob I will put it in a pan a melt some butter, and add misc seasonings

For focks sake people -

If you take the corn off the cob, you're not eating corn on the cob. Geesus.

I'm sure it's a great side dish for boneless ribs.

Finish off with a stickless popsicle or an ice cream cone with no cone.

wash it all down with some iceless iced tea whydon'tcha?

Funny but not true

Couldn't BE any more true.

If you believe corn with no cob is corn on the cob,

then you believe chicks with diicks are chicks.

Technically, unless you're also chewing and swallowing the cob, the corn is off the cob the instant you rip it off with your teeth.

That's how it comes out of the ground. They should call that corn and every other version corn off the cob.

Certain south of the border types slather their COC with mayonnaise and then season and eat it.

some also put it on their corn.

I push a single chopstick in as far as it'll go, then eat from fat end to thin like a typewriter.

It is a Cajun/Creole side dish with corn, peppers, and onions
