Marlon Mack

Recommended Posts

Own this guy in two leagues, and really struggling with his value and what to do with him. He absolutely shined against buffalo. I know the "oh but it's buffalo" argument, but Buffalo's run D is actually pretty good and the most yards they had given up to runner was 65, while Mack had 126.

What do you guys think of him? Surefire RB 2, with rb1 upside....or is it time to sell him off? Where do you peg his value (aka in the mixon, michel, kamara range or the Chris carson, jordan howard, Alex collins range).

If you can upgrade at a position of need It is probably worth selling high, but if no good offers come in hold and enjoy against the raiders this week. Nowhere near Kamara and Mixon in value IMO

i think, with Mack, it's just all health related. scuttlebutt is that they wanted to make him the #1 LAST season, but he could not stay healthy - therefore gore got it.

if he stays healthy, i think he has high upside. of course there is some game script concern with indi, but maybe, just maybe they are rounding into form and are no longer a league patsy.

he really needs to prove that he has just had some bum luck and he is not simply "injury prone" however. i'm probably starting him weekly on one team where my options are thin, and i am very scared that i get a 1.5 point scoreline because he leaves after taking 4 hits...

I agree, but also would also not be surprised at all if Mack outscores Kamara rest of season.

Great post. You nailed it.

Thanks.

I don't think you are going to get Mack's value right now. I think he looks explosive on a good offense.

He could have another big game against Oakland, but then it's unlikely someone would want to trade going into his bye week.

Hopefully he is your rb3/flex play. As a flex he should give you an advantage over most in a 12 team.

I would be stunned

I wouldn't be stunned, barring injury.

He was clearly the bell cow back, in on every situation.

Ingram is going anywhere, and will be getting yards and TDs that Kamare enjoyed while he was Out,

Why would you even consider trading a late round flier that is looking like the potential 2nd half steal of the draft? Plug him in and enjoy.

He's already in the top ten in fantasy pros rankings. One more big game and he's officially a stud.

In that case I should try and trade for Mack so I can flip him for Kamara 🙄

im thinking of trading him because I have Zeke, Mixon, Peterson, and Carson in a 12 team, 2 RB and no flex, league...

Ahhhhhh....I see.

Trade mixon. He has more value at the moment. Keep Mack and zeke

Just looked at Indy ROS schedule: this week is very good with Oak then a bye, after that only one plus matchup for Mack until week 16. I'd sell Mack after this week and start with Kamara as apparently some in this thread think that is equal value.

Let me make something clear, while i think there is about a 35-40% chance Mack outscores kamara ROS, I don't think his trade value is nearly as high. However, if i had Kamara and needed WR help, I would gladly look to look into trading Kamara for Mack + WR2 (landry or something)

The Bills game was supposed to be a negative game for him too. Look how that turned out.

This is a good ideal

Both Mack and Mixon have the same problem, injury’s.

All I know is Mack has one fantasy relevant game to date and a rough post bye schedule. He is limited again this week. If you can cash out and get something good I would do so

Exactly. Look at Buffalo's run D in strength of schedule. Then go to YouTube and watch Mack run for chunk after chunk. Also, pay attention to how well the OL was run blocking. They have some talent and it might be gelling. Their guards did a great job of pulling.

In addition, who says the schedule except for week 16 looks bad. Lets look fellows....

They play Jax twice, Miami, Tenn, Hou, Dallas, NYG

Based on total rushing yards allowed, here is the ranking from 1-32, with 1 being the best.

Jax-27

Jax -27

Tenn-20

Miami-30

Houston-10

Dallas-11

NYG-23

And yards per carry with rushing tds after:

Jax-4.2.....6

Jax. 4.2.....6

Tenn- 4.1......3

Miami 4.5.....6

Houston 3.4.....1

Dallas 3.6.....4

NYG 4.3 .....6

Conclusion: with out looking at the stats of RBs receiving passes, only Dallas and Houston look formidable v the rush. The other 5 look mediocre to poor if you ask me. FYI, the Bills today (after the Mack attack) are now number 18, allowing 4.2 yds per rush. They were number 9, allowing 3.8 yds per carry before The Mack ran them over. So, if Indy abused a team in the top 10, what do you think they are going to do to these 5 less rated teams?

FIRE HIM UP.....AND YOU MAY REGRET TRADING HIM......

If the Packers used Jones as much as the Colts have used Mack it would be warranted.

Mack is also injury prone and Id be surprised if he plays another full game before getting dinged up again.

I'm playing a little bit, I like Mack, have him in both fanduel lineups at 6700, but his value is getting way overinflated in this thread.

You are getting him confused with Matt Breida

if the packers don't get Aaron jones and the run game involved this week, they lose by 21.

Another game of Mack picking up chunks and running hard on the inside. The knock was all the runs of a loss last year. Now the Indy OL is giving him space. There are not a lot of backs I'd rather have than Mack right now. The ROS rankings having him at #29RB need to be adjusted.

Just a little bit of caution on Mack. Now might be the time to sell.

Buff and Oak are towards the bottom on run defense.

Now he has a bye.

After the bye... Jax (x2), Ten, MIA, Hou, Dal, and NYG. The only really soft match-up is Miami. Aside from the Giants, who are good but not great against the run, the rest of those teams are all in the top 2/3 of the league against the run. I'm sure he'll still be a low end RB2/high end FLEX, but I don't think his value will be any higher than it is now.

Mack owner wants to trade him for a starter this week. Debating offering Ingram or a package with Collins and another player.

i look at it a bit different. i'm not so worried about teams that are "tough against the run" - i'm more worried about teams that are likely to beat the (crud) out of them so that they are only passing the ball in the 2nd half of games . few of those teams bother me on that front. and Jax seems to be imploding - could see them being a juicy matchup in short order POSSIBLY

i still might recommend selling high - but mainly if one is overly worried that he'll get hurt again (a valid concern)

Buffalo is not a bad run defense, prior to Mack's dominance they were top 10 Run D (maybe top 5). I think the only real concerns are injury and game script, if they get down big he is not the primary 3rd down back. However, this is true for many good fantasy rb's.

What are you basing the tough schedule on? Seems like you're living in 2017. Did you see Tennis' post #19.

When I look at the ESPN ranking of Defenses it shows Tenn, Giants Jax, and Miami all worse than Buffalo and in the bottom half of the league, yielding over 110 ypg.. Buffalo is listed at #16 and that includes the Mack thrashing.

What are you calling a soft matchup? Because Jax is listed at #25 giving up over 120 ypg and Miami over 140.

Just based on. http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing/position/defense

Dal, Hou, Ten all in the top half. Must have missed Jax, and just assumed they would be better than they are.

Okay, same source. So, really just Dallas and Houston are tough.

And you really should sort by yds/g because Tenn is top half in total yards because they had a bye. They're really bottom half in ypg (#18) giving up over 110 ypg.

And we really should try to get another source that ranks RB FF ppg. Because pure running defense doesn't tell the whole story, RBs can make a living off those short dumpoff passes.

As someone else mentioned game script is really important. Mack will get pulled if Indy is too far behind. Luckily for Mack, Jax does not look to be that good this year and I would think Indy should be competitive in most of the remaining games they have.
