Jaylen Samuels a rb/te on yahoo....TE?

Recommended Posts

Sonofabitch.

Guess it's good news my opponent has Connor and can't get Samuel's but holy smokes that the play off winner if you can start a running back at tight end in the playoffs now.

I might be starting him in place of Jordan Reed at TE depending on what the workload looks like heading into Sunday.

Yahoo needs to fix this ASAP. Connor is out and this kid is probably the starter.

Yahoo doesn't take away player designations during the season, at least they haven't in the past...

Plus this isn't Yahoo's doing, it is what they are getting from their stat provider...

I saw a blurb earlier that he was listed as a RB/TE on "multiple" platforms, but I've only actually heard of Yahoo with it.

This is akin to finding a glitch in a game...If you can put in a starting RB who is a good pass catcher at the TE spot?!?! Done deal, I would do it in a heartbeat over everybody except maybe a top 5 TE...no way I'm sitting Kelce or Ertz, and as scary as this is to say, Ebron...but anybody else is fair game. I own Kittle in multiple leagues and would actually entertain the idea of sitting him for Samuels.

It is obviously and ridiculously wrong. And yahoo can fix whatever it wants nowadays. They just have to sack up and do it before waivers.

I remember Colstons rookie year with the Saints. He was clearly a WR and Yahoo comfortably allowed him to be started as a tight end. And folks did it with a straight face and took all 100 of those fraudulent catches in that position. It was before Graham, Gronk, and Hernandez, so it was an absurdly unfair advantage. The guy in my league who did it still lost in the playoffs. Horrible. He was clearly a WR.

Might be? If you have guaranteed touches at TE then you play him. I don't think Samuels will be a RB1, but he would he a locked in TE1 with #1 overall upside.

It's just silly and I hope it doesn't win someone a title. Would be ok if he actually ever lined up at TE...but just saying "well he came out of college playing all these positions " is crap.

I'm the OP of the Jaylen Samuels thread that was posted back in August and is linked in post #2 by Phil Simms 11. The post was intended to be a wild card shot in the dark dart throw for the end of your draft incase he got any playing time if Bell missed time. Obviously Bell missed time as we all know, and obviously Samuels got no playing time as Conner proved to be a true workhorse. I started Conner and Samuels (at TE) Week 1. Conner paid off huge, Samuels rewarded me with a big fat zero! The post got ridiculed and rightfully so. My original thinking was with the TE landscape being so weak, having a RB at TE would provide "sneaky" value. I never intended to try to be smarter than anyone else or be a guru and I apologize if my post came across that way. I just wanted to provide an outside the box thought to the board. I've been here for years, mostly as a lurker, and what I love the most about this site is the outside the box thinking of no name players who become household names in the fantasy world. It took a long time, a Bell holdout, and an injury to a workhorse RB in Conner, but Samuels may finally provide some value when it matters most.

Outside of a handful of names (Kelce, Ertz, Ebron, Cook, etc), Samuels is a very valuable TE this week and possibly beyond. Will he be the lead back? Who's to say? Tomlin has come out and said he expects to employ a committee. Either way, even in a 50/50 split with Ridley, I think Samuels is still a top play at TE this week and good play as a RB2/Flex. Personally, I'll be starting him over Jordan Reed who I can no longer trust with Sanchez at QB. Good luck to all this week.

I managed to land him with my top waiver pick. I plan on using him in my TE spot for najoku.

I picked up Samuels the first week of the season. Thought this guy could be a real sleeper. Held onto him for half the season but needed the space due to other injuries. He does not have TE designation in my league though.

I don’t understand how it is legal to put a guy lin8ng up as a RB as a TE. It seems very unfair to allow this.

I don’t suppose Yahoo can or will change this designation now so someone has an advantage to be able to have their TE possibly rush for 20 carries. How many TEs do that?

My league must have been asleep at the wheel. I got samuels with the 7th waiver priority.

Fournette, ware, dalvin and Samuel's. Still think it's crap but have to pounce on it.

In my original post I listed the reasons why he was listed with the RB/TE designation on Yahoo. He played all over the field at NC State becoming their all time receptions leader and worked out at the NFL Combine with the TE's. I'm not stating that this is right or wrong to be listed that way, just providing background why a RB would have TE designation. Samuels is truly a rare case. For comparison, Dan Arnold of the Saints has a WR/TE designation on Yahoo this year. He was a college WR and the Saints converted him to a TE. Now let's say with the rash of injuries the Saints have had at WR, they moved Arnold back to WR. He would see a bump in value solely because of his TE eligibility.

no because i do not take responsibility for having to police things like that. we all agree the website rules that. be careful or you'll take responsibility for EVERYTHING. make sure you got the time to fix every mistake on your platform

as a commissioner would you disallow his usage at TE? I'm thinking about unilaterally ruling against it.

Tavon Austin has wr/rb eligibility in yahoo leagues.

I pointed out Tavon in another thread much earlier this season. It's a valid point, but negated by the fact that he SUCKS. Samuels is about to inherit the starting RB spot on a team playing the Raiders and can be put in as a TE in Yahoo leagues. If it's within the rules, it's not cheating. People did it with Colston for weeks when he first hit the scene.

I am actually debating this for my lineup. I have Kittle, but am thinking of putting in Samuels in his place as a TE....

yeah, gave it a lot of thought and the combo of Cook/Kittle was where I had trouble justifying it. But, Samuels had 11.5 pts in PPR in VERY limited action last week. I have to believe that both his floor and ceiling are higher than that of Kittle and Cook. JMO though.

So I am shady *ss if I start him at TE huh?

Again, it's not against the rules. You didn't change anything to get him designation at a TE. People may be mad, but they had the same opportunity to acquire him and use him the same way. :dunno:

Yeah, I am not quite sure what to do. Stick with the consistency of Kittle or go for it with Samuels for potential upside. Also, the Steelers have been saying they will use a committee, but I think Samuels will get his touches/passes. Decisions, decisions. I am 12-1 and feel like I should just keep riding with my lineup that I have basically used all season, but like the chance of being able to use a RB in the TE position.

i managed to get him in the only yahoo league i am in. i have kelce. so, not likely to start him as TE. but, given that i also relied on Gordon, i might be starting him as a RB and i also have flexibility later at TE if i need it.

PLUS, noone will be starting him at TE AGAINST ME!

I got Samuel in 3 leagues, but in those 3 leagues I have Cook and will likely run with him. Not sure yet.

And I'm not confident enough in Samuels to play him over the RBs I already have. I think Ridley will do more than many think.

That said, I wanted if for nothing more than to make sure others couldn't use him.

As has my entire season gone, I had injured players to do so I did and picked up Samuels to block. Hunt, Olsen, and Collins.

You cant disallow him at TE now. I actually held him at points in the season being TE desperate and hoping he played. He may have even been drafted because of it.

If you want to do it as a new rule for next season go for it.

then knock yourself out.

you'll be responsible for every position error made by a website, eligibility error (like eligbility for IR, etc) and such, from here to the end of time.

luckily he's listed as TE/RB because if he was only listed as TE then he couldn't be used AT ALL, given your stance that every mistake must be fixed. unless, of course, you're planning to manually calculate how much he could get someone at RB in that scenario. but you don't have that NOW, luckily, but it's only a matter of time before you have to fix a problem that you cannot fix

to each his own. i will NOT BE opening the pandoras box that i only scratch the surface of here

I get it....coming out of college there was some uncertainty. But there isn’t any uncertainty anymore as to what he is. That became obvious a long time ago. So yahoo, unlike espn, apparently is not flexible enough to make the change and apparently has made it their policy to not change duo designations ever.

That my friend is STUPID AND UNFAIR. I know it’s not your doing, it’s yahoo, so they are the ones who are stupid and unfair for not applying proper procedures like their competitor, ESPN.

Wow, I didn’t know that. I just assumed it was a YAHOO thing and every league in Yahoo has to abide by the same rules and procedures. I assumed because yahoo designated him both then he has to be both for every league run by yahoo....no discretion by individual commissioners. I don’t even know who the commissioner is in my league...he hasn’t made himself known as such. Is he supposed to?
