iam90sbaby 2,120 Posted May 26, 2018 Agreed. If we're giving 90'sbaby an entire regiment we have to go back and give TBBOM the entire Manhattan Project team. A lot of the individuals in the Manhattan Project had successful careers outside of the project and could have easily been drafted as scientist or other categories. It was also extremely compartmentalized and most people didnt even know who their co-workers were. (Im also on the side that Titans shouldve been aloud to do that). Most of the soldiers in the 442nd that was their claim to fame, that was all they did, and now the most decorated regiment in US history isnt aloud to get selected and is left out. iam90sbaby 2,120 Posted May 26, 2018 I want 1.1 back so I can take "Founding Fathers" and ruin the first three rounds. I get your point but its different. Were they even referred to as the founding fathers while they were still alive? Or did the term come about later?
iam90sbaby 2,120 Posted May 26, 2018 Also to add to my point, over 120,000 people worked on the Manhattan Project and are dozens and dozens of notable individuals. There are just over 3,000 soldiers in the 442nd and can anyone name just one person from the regiment?

I just think the point of the draft was to draft individuals or, at most, close partnerships, except for categories like "Band", "Sports Team" and "Court Case" which require multiple people to be picked at once. 5-Points 2,715 Posted May 27, 2018 25.8 Roe v Wade - Court Case   26.1 Carlos Hathcock - Wildcard  If there was a "Badass" category, I'd put him there. If you've never heard of Carlos, you've prolly seen one of his shots depicted in Saving Private Ryan, when Barry Pepper's character shoots the sniper through his scope. Carlos did that in real life.   One of Hathcock's most famous accomplishments was shooting an enemy sniper through the enemy's own rifle scope, hitting him in the eye and killing him.[11][12][13][14] Hathcock and John Roland Burke, his spotter, were stalking the enemy sniper in the jungle near Hill 55, the firebase from which Hathcock was operating, southwest of Da Nang. The sniper, known only as the "Cobra," had already killed several Marines and was believed to have been sent specifically to kill Hathcock.[10] When Hathcock saw a glint (light reflecting off the enemy sniper's scope) in the bushes, he fired at it, shooting through the scope and killing the sniper. Surveying the situation, Hathcock concluded that the only feasible way he could have put the bullet straight down the enemy's scope, through his eye, would have been if both snipers were zeroing in on each other at the same time, which gave him only a few seconds to act, and Hathcock fired first.[10] Given the flight time of rounds at long ranges, the snipers could have simultaneously killed one another.

Voltaire 4,552 Posted May 27, 2018 26.8 - Madonna - Seductress   --------  27.1 Roger Williams - Religious Leader  Roger Williams (c. 21 December 1603 – between 27 January and 15 March 1683)[1]was a Puritan minister, English Reformed theologian, and Reformed Baptist who founded the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. He was a staunch advocate for religious freedom, separation of church and state, and fair dealings with American Indians, and he was one of the first abolitionists.[2][3] Williams was expelled by the Puritan leaders from the Massachusetts Bay Colony for spreading "new and dangerous ideas", and he began settling the Providence Plantationsas a refuge offering what he called "liberty of conscience" in 1636. In 1638, he founded the First Baptist Church in America, also known as the First Baptist Church of Providence.[4][5] He was a student of Native American languages, and he organized the first attempt to prohibit slavery in any of the British American colonies.[3]

ZeroTolerance 582 Posted May 27, 2018 Guessing TBBOM is sleeping, so I'll go ahead.  27.6 - Jim Jones - Religious Leader  Jones started the Peoples Temple in Indiana during the 1950s. He moved the Temple to California in the mid-1960s and gained notoriety with its activities in San Francisco in the early 1970s. He then relocated to Guyana. In 1978, media reports surfaced that human rights abuses were taking place in the Peoples Temple in Jonestown. United States Congressman Leo Ryan led a delegation into the commune to investigate what was going on; Ryan and others were murdered by gunfire while boarding a return flight with defectors. Jones subsequently committed a mass murder-suicide of 918 of his followers, 304 of whom were children, almost all by cyanide poisoning via a Flavor Aid and Kool Aid mix. This historical episode gave rise to the American-English expression "drinking the Kool-Aid".

5-Points 2,715 Posted May 28, 2018 27.8 Jack London - Fiction Writer   John Griffith "Jack" London (born John Griffith Chaney;[1] January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916)[2][3][4][5] was an American novelist, journalist, and social activist. A pioneer in the world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first writers to become a worldwide celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing. He was also an innovator in the genre that would later become known as science fiction.  28.1 John Muir - Reformer   John Muir (/mjʊər/; April 21, 1838 – December 24, 1914)[1] also known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks",[2][3] was an influential Scottish-American[4][5]:42 naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, glaciologist and early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States. His letters, essays, and books describing his adventures in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada, have been read by millions. His activism has helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and many other wilderness areas. The Sierra Club, which he co-founded, is a prominent American conservation organization. The 211-mile (340 km) John Muir Trail, a hiking trail in the Sierra Nevada, was named in his honor.[6] Other such places include Muir Woods National Monument, Muir Beach, John Muir College, Mount Muir, Camp Muir, Muir Grove, and Muir Glacier.

ZeroTolerance 582 Posted May 28, 2018 Well, I got burned for thinking Volty wouldn't take two educators before anyone else even touched the category, so I better make sure it doesn't happen again.  28.3 - Jane Addams - Social Scientist  Jane Addams (September 8, 1860 – May 21, 1935), known as the "mother" of social work,[1][2] was a pioneer American settlement activist/reformer, social worker, public philosopher, sociologist,[3] public administrator,[4][5]protestor, author, and leader in women's suffrage and world peace.[6] She co-founded, with Ellen Gates Starr, an early settlement house in the United States, Chicago's Hull House that would later become known as one of the most famous settlement houses in America. In an era when presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson identified themselves as reformers and social activists, Addams was one of the most prominent[7] reformers of the Progressive Era. She helped America address and focus on issues that were of concern to mothers, such as the needs of children, local public health, and world peace. In her essay "Utilization of Women in City Government," Jane Addams noted the connection between the workings of government and the household, stating that many departments of government, such as sanitation and the schooling of children, could be traced back to traditional women's roles in the private sphere. Thus, these were matters of which women would have more knowledge than men, so women needed the vote to best voice their opinions.[8] She said that if women were to be responsible for cleaning up their communities and making them better places to live, they needed to be able to vote to do so effectively. Addams became a role model for middle-class women who volunteered to uplift their communities. She is increasingly being recognized as a member of the American pragmatist school of philosophy, and is known by many as the first woman "public philosopher in the history of the United States.[9] In 1889 she co-founded Hull House, and in 1920 she was a co-founder for the ACLU.[10] In 1931 she became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and is recognized as the founder of the social work profession in the United States.[11]

Wondering why she lasted this long.  Regarding John Dewey, he and Horace Mann were 1a and 1b and I got increasingly uncomfortable seeing him setting there so long. Â Regarding John Dewey, he and Horace Mann were 1a and 1b and I got increasingly uncomfortable seeing him setting there so long. Â And my thinking was that you were probably the only one giving any thought to him so I could wait a bit. I was probably half right.
