So Trump is telling the Pentagon to come up with a plan to have a really big parade with tanks in the streets and flyovers. He saw the French with their Bastille Day parade and it must have given him some sort of inferiority complex.

It was right before the first shutdown and he was talking all about how our military needs funding and blah blah blah and then he comes up with this bowlshit. By the way kids, DC's infrastructure is crumbling. Their schools are . And you may not have thought of this, but turns out when you roll tanks up and down the streets the streets all need to be repaved. Not to mention that The Ridges can't handle the wait and power lines and sunken utilities, Etc it's kind of a big deal.

Sure, we take some equipment out of the field so that we can have a nice parade costing millions to compensate for Trump's small peanus. Our troops are thought of with high regard already and we would be better off getting them out of some of those sh!tholes instead of having a silly parade.

Nope. I love the flyovers, but the person requesting the flyover should have to pay for it, although they can use it as a training exercise.

 

I just don't think a parade for the Donald to check out his troops is a good use of money. It is certainly far more involved and expensive than just a flyover as well.

The Defense department receives more than 1,000 requests for flyovers at sporting events every year. The Thunderbirds and other teams accept many of them, including for NASCAR races and important baseball games.

 

Some critics call the Super Bowl flyover a waste of taxpayer money.

 

Washington Post columnist Sally Jenkins, writing about the 2011 Super Bowl flyover at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, said:

"For absurdity, how about those four Navy F-18s flying over the stadium - with its retractable roof closed? Everybody inside could only see the planes on the stadium's video screens. It was strictly a two-second beauty shot. Know what it cost taxpayers? I'll tell you: $450,000. (The Navy justifies the expense by saying it's good for recruiting.)"
