laxdad57 2 Posted August 24, 2014 Ten team, two keeper league, standard scoring QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,TE,RB/WR/TE,K,D Pre-draft traded Pick #2 & #59 (became McCoy & Brady) for Pick #10 & #31 (became DT & AJ)... agree that some wont like this trade. 10. D. Thomas WR (trade) 19. E. Lacy RB (keeper) 22. D. Martin RB 31. A. Johnson WR (trade) 39. K. Allen WR 42. R. Rice RB 62. Michael Floyd WR 79. MJD RB 82. K. Rudolph TE 99. M. Ryan QB 102. R. Wilson QB 119. Andre Williams RB 122. K. Benjamin WR 139. M. Crabtree WR (keeper) 142. Arizona Def 159. N. Novak K Keepers (2 max) can be kept for a maximum of two years and cost two rounds higher than draft position. If kept again for example Crabtree would be a 12th round pick next year. This years notable keepers (RB: E. Lacy, M. Ball, L. Bell, Z. Stacy, A. Morris, A. Ellington; WR: A. Jeffrey, A. Brown, M. Crabtree, J. Gordan; TE: J. Thomas, QB: M. Stafford, A. Luck) this added to the RB scarcity.
Sean McDermott 2 Posted August 24, 2014 You are right, I don't like the trade. Any time you can have a guy like McCoy on your team, you take it. McCoy and Lacy would have been killer. For me, you wouldn't have drafted Brady so that doesn't mean anything, but you could have easily have drafted another WR at 59. No you wouldn't have had a stud like Thomas, but you would have had a solid lineup of WR to choose from between Allen, Crabtree, Floyd. Adding a WR like a Patterson, Vincent Jackson, Garcon, Roddy White to me would have been the route to go. a lineup of McCoy/Lacy/Allen/Crabtree/Floyd/Garcon looks better than Lacy/Martin/Thomas and the rest of your guys. Now your second RB will be the weak link to your team. Not a big fan of Doug Martin. laxdad57 2 Posted August 24, 2014 No arguing the merits of the pre-draft trade of draft picks....I knew I was giving up the best player in McCoy, traded for what was expected to be an elite WR1 (#10 D. Thomas) and elite WR2 (#31 A. Johnson).... so I got what I bargained for in the trade and was fortunate that Doug Martin was available at Pick #22 for a high upside RB2. The trade is consistent with my team building approach... which is to survive the war of attrition that the NFL season always is..... by building a team deep with quality players and turning Allen, Crabtree, Floyd into WR3/4/5 is creating great depth. As for available WR's at Pick #59 remember this is a keeper draft so the end of round 6 is like early round 8 in a standard redraft.... Michael Floyd who I drafted at #62 was best WR available. The other WRs you're looking at are J. Maclin, E. Sanders, M. Colston so not the tier that you where thinking. Making the trade to acquire Pick #31 put me into the tier you where thinking of (V. Jackson #29, A. Johnson #31, R. White #34, P. Garcon #35, along with K. Allen #39, C. Patterson #41). I'll answer yours
