Recommended Posts

Anyone had it? Doing ortho surgery soon. Hand has been falling asleep constantly... sharp pains etc. Last year or two.. worse the last 6 months.

Doesn't seem to be much to it.

Jerk off with the opposite hand

I was just getting ready to text my doc buddy, "whats my jerk off recovery time?" :)

Was diagnosed with that myself and doc wanted to do surgery I opted to wait and do some research.Found this video(exercises start at 1:50) and started this routine daily and within a week or so I was feeling a lot better. Now a year later nothing. The second exercise in the video worked best for me,although I did all three.

Make sure that's what you actually have.... I've battled similar problems and pains in (both) my wrists... I believe I actually suffer from this:

Guyon's Canal syndrome

It is... had a nerve conduction test (fock did that hurt... series of ever increasing shocks).

Great doc... knows his sh!t. Only right wrist... the other need a brace at night.

Asked him what the cause was? Tuping reports for 20 years? Lifting?

"Being alive" he said. Unless your really overweight 100-200 lbs.. or have complecations from diabetes.. not me... there really are no "causes" per sae... American lawyers convinced a jury or judge that it was from typing to get settlements he said.. no correlation.

Try the ridgid wrist brace while you sleep first. Worked instantly for me

Gonna do that for my left... but doesn't bother me at all when sleeping.

Interestingly, I've been Googling..... "pain on top of forearm near elbow when grasping."

Best I can come up with "Tennis Elbow" ???? It ain't in the elbow. It's on top of my forearm.... NEAR elbow. What the hell is it? A tendon or something. Hurts like hell every time I pick something up.

Any of yall had that?

I have it in both elbows, and it has been a bltch lately to do anything. I shook a woman's hand and pain shot down my arm. For a 3 month stretch I was pain free. I had started taking turmeric and black pepper with my shakes. But then it came back and its worse than ever. I dropped my weight lifting significantly. Like 40 pound bent bar for curls for my heaviest set (besides unassisted pull ups)

I had a bad experience with this that soured me on carpal tunnel diagnosis.

As you guys know, I was in maintenance section in the army. I was the parts clerk, and PLL and vehicle records, and such.

We had one inept mechanic who didn't know how fix anything. And it was well know that this was her real problem. Fortunately for everyone, she got diagnosed with carpal tunnel which delighted the motor sergeant, as it provided him a nice excuse to get rid of her and save her some dignity. "It's not that she doesn't know jack-###### about her job, it's that the doctor says she can't turn a wrench." He arranged to have her transferred to the mail room which opened up a slot to replace her with somebody else.

Remembering her, and dealing with her, and watching her game the Army medical system, has jaded my opinion on carpal tunnel diagnosis. I'm sure it's a real problem for some people, folks in this thread deal with it, I won't question, but it also serves as a great excuse for others and also my only story on the subject.

My 24 year old gf has it bad. She stretched her tendons doing gymnastics, which those tendons were already delicate from genetics

That's why I said interesting,I'm wondering if the shocks had to be more intense in your case due to a more severe case of CT than I was diagnosed with.Really, have no idea just know as I mentioned above those PT exercises saved me from having surgery.

Carpal tunnel is legit, and an easy diagnosis to make. Dont need nerve conduction velocity studies unless the hand surgeon wants them. But definitely try the exercises and night time splints before considering an operation.

From your description it aint diabetic neuropathy, nor RA. IIRC you just take a testosterone supplement, but CT is associated with excess human growth hormone if you happen to be on that well.

Lay off lifting for a while. It may take several weeks to months to get better, though I think we already discussed your job may also be contributing.

Get a theraband flexbar and do this exercise: http://www.thera-bandacademy.com/tba-exercise/FlexBar-Tyler-Twist-for-Tennis-Elbow

Nope... just testosterone.. and my levels are in normal guy range... not even above.

Sorta of a worrisome time the last couple weeks.. my creatinine was 1.38 ish... for the last few blood tests. They were worried maybe something was going on with my kidneys... non testosterone related, just in general. So I had to piss in a jug for 24 hours... needed 2 jugs almost going to 3.. hah... creatinine clearance rate was 185 so excellent kidney function. Had an ultrasound... two non-blockage stones but won't be a problem. Apparently the average levels do not apply to me... excess muscle is causing my normal to be higher than normal... so... that's a relief.. I was freaked.

Yeah, but gonna keep on top of things to make sure you’re not spilling protein in your urine, as that’s one of the first signs of diabetic kidney disease.

When you gotta get a lift in but your hand doesn't work for 6 weeks cause of surgery.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e11/plainsmouse/Mobile%20Uploads/20180525_160242_zpsy2wpcizj.jpg

And before any of you fockers mentions it... I'm a Chickenhawk!

As far as the surgery... man.. can't say enough good things. Hand hasn't been numb or the painful pins and needles since. I'd say now in retrospect it was going on 80% of the time. Couldn't brush my teeth or eat dinner without my hand falling asleep.

My surgeon was able to do it with about a one inch incision in my wrist.

Can't use it to lift heavy for 6 weeks... but I'm finding alternatives. Cardio 4x this week... long overdue anyway.
