CornKobb 48 Posted August 23, 2016 Im a Cowboy fan as stated, our group of guys in Texas have and over/under 3.5 games bet on when Dez throws his first sideline or locker room temper tantrum Its sad.....only 3 playoff wins since 1995. It used to hurt when they lost but us 40 somethings just shake it off and laugh now. Comic relief and a lot of scar tissue. They will be back some day but we are not holding our breath lol

Comic relief and a lot of scar tissue. I've been a fan since '75 - I can promise you I'm not laughing and shaking it off. It pisses me off to high hell - makes me crazy. But speaking of Dez - I do get a kick out of the Dez haters.. Since day 1, they've been itching, flat out dying, for this guy to fall into some kind of explosive mess - whether legal or some other kind. They are so desperate and blood thirsty for it they over exaggerate every little snippet of news, any hint and whisper of turmoil and their rabbit ears go up and they're running with pitch forks. Last year, the news of a "secret" Dez video had these idiots in a circle jerk, feeding frenzy - it was nauseating to watch... But, as is usually the case - they are left with a bag full of nothing and they retreat, awaiting the next charge. Not to compare him physically or on the field, but in terms of being a pariah - Dez is the modern day Randy Moss. In 1998 20 teams passed on him (cinci twice) all bcoz of 'bad news' stigma. For years everybody kept waiting, pitch forks in hand - for Randy to screw up.. 18 years later and they're still waiting.

I have taken the new approach as a Cowboy fan to not get excited until they hit 9 wins. Until then they are a 3 ring Circus. There 2nd rounders of Randy Gregory, Gavin Escobar, and the Notre Dame kid who can't lift his leg because of drop foot is why they continue to be a 8-8 sideshow. Im sick of the talk, show me. stonewall 647 Posted August 23, 2016 Good news, in a way. Have several drafts coming up this week/weekend. He is a target of mine, and now he won't have a chance to catch another highlight TD in the week 3 preseason game. He has already proven that he can produce with Dak if Romo goes down....and he is hungry this year. Falling another few notches in ADP can only help strengthen my squads. Cruzer 1,992 Posted August 23, 2016 by all accounts, gregory is a good kid with a pot problem. I'm sure you've heard too - apparently it's not a Dazed & Confused type addiction, rather one stemmed from his bipolarism... In any account - it's a problem this team knew about and decided to roll the dice - and it's busting.

Such a great talent but those concussions are coming easier and easier Also not so concerned about a concussion causing him to miss the last two weeks of preseason. I know concussions can become a big issue but its not like he needs the reps and has not had a history of concussions. Think he will be fine

redsrback 30 Posted August 24, 2016 If you been a Cowboy fan a long time then you know Cowboys deserve criticism. 1 of my favorite players in the 70s was Harvey Martin, he and a few others from back then had problems. Biggest terd down the pike was Michael Irvin. As for Dez his growth was stunted because they wanted to make Whitten so gr8, and 1 thing Romo could do was throw to his buddy for 10 to 15 yards. Post stats all you want, you want another ? Dorsett is a better player then Emmitt Smith, Smith just had holes a semi could drive through. So how did throwing so many balls to Whitten work out for Dallas and there All-Pro.
Cruzer 1,992 Posted August 24, 2016 Post stats all you want, you want another ? Dorsett is a better player then Emmitt Smith, Smith just had holes a semi could drive through. I was a huge Tony D fan myself - but this is ridiculous. * #33 wasn't exactly w/out his fair share of award winning lineman. Both Pat Donovan and Herb Scott were multiple All Pro selections and of course, Rayfield Wright was a HOF'er. * Dorsett had no where near the stability and balance of Emmitt. * Dorsett ran like a gazelle, but he was prone to the arm tackle - not #22. * Dorsett was no where near the blocking back Emmitt was. * Emmitt picked up gobs of 1st downs on check down passes.. Preston Pearson and Ron Springs were the pass catching rbs back then. * Dorsett had a HUGE fumbling problem - usually inside the 10. Emmitt fumbled about as often as a solar eclipse. Cruzer 1,992 Posted August 24, 2016 But back to Dez - for the skills he has and even though he's either leading or near the top in most td catches each year - he's never had a 100 catch season... Too many times we will be near the half and Dez has had only 2 balls thrown his way - utter stupidity. He's been underused here far too often - he needs at least 10 looks a game, minimum.

So how did throwing so many balls to Whitten work out for Dallas and there All-Pro. you seem very confused. earlier you wrote that dez's progress was "stunted" because the cowboys wanted to "make witten gr8". but here's how his targets go: 2010 (injury shortened): 72 2011: 103 2012: 138 2013: 159 2014: 136 2015: (injury shortened): 72 so every year he was healthy, he picked up over 100 targets despite playing on a team with a first-ballot HOFer at TE. meanwhile, witten's targets declined every single year. so what are you babbling about? Too many times we will be near the half and Dez has had only 2 balls thrown his way - utter stupidity. He's been underused here far too often - he needs at least 10 looks a game, minimum. things started changing for dez in the baltimore game of 2012. prior to that, romo was using the system, and distributing to the open receiver. but in that game, murray got hurt just before halftime, so romo started feeding dez. dez responded, and romo learned that dez could win battles even if he was covered. one of the big problems with the current system is that both outside guys (dez and twill) run the 9-route more often than any other tandem. they're running the go ~40% of the time, when they could be working posts and ins. so defenses can start running bail coverage and more or less prevent romo from feeding dez. the thing is, i like dez right where he is in terms of receptions: ~85-90. more than that, and you start taking away the diversity of the offense by taking looks from beasley, witten, twill, and the backs. if you put too many eggs in the bryant basket, then you become much easier for opponents to scheme for. I personally don't care how many looks he gets as long as we are moving the chains... But the games where we get to the half and have more punts than throws to Dez - then I'm not happy.. Distribution is great, when it works. There's a reason why Dez makes 100 times more than Beasly. With his body and strength - he should see at least 6 quick slants a game.
