kilroy69 993 Posted February 13, 2016 so it really is for all the marbles here. 1 for sure and possibly 2. the dems could win the presidency and with no support in either house swing the court for the next 50 years

Vikings4ever 496 Posted February 13, 2016 the worst court decision of our lifetime easily It certainly had plenty of negative repercussions, but a law that would allow the government to ban books is clearly unconstitutional.

Voltaire 4,556 Posted February 14, 2016 Kagan has recused herself in Fisher vs. Texas. Affirmative Action needs to die right here and now or it's there to stay, there's enough votes yet in SCOTUS to form a majority.
hoytdwow 202 Posted February 14, 2016 Scalia was a Kunt of the first order. Terrible jurist and a slave to the "strict constructionist" school, which in a bizarre and ironic paroxysm of anti-Americanism is total anathema to what the founders expected us to do. Â Fock the repubtards, if I'm obummer I eulogize the guy Monday morning and have a nominee to the congress Tuesday. Checkmate.

Fock the repubtards, if I'm obummer I eulogize the guy Monday morning and have a nominee to the congress Tuesday. Checkmate. That's how it'll go down on Obummer's end. Then we see how McConnell plays it. He'll probably get the pulse of his colleagues and provide a hearing only if he's sure he has 51 sure 'No's. Reject the first one and say there isn't time before the election to decide on the replacement. He probably can dig up the Nos. If he can't he'll stall. Hardcore troubadour 12,618 Posted February 14, 2016 So, if the Republicans successfully block any nomination, and we send up with a situation like there was in 2000, where the SC basically decided the presidential election, then what? Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted February 14, 2016 I think its amusing that the republicans want Obama to leave the decision to the next president. Why in the fock would he do that? gocolts 300 Posted February 14, 2016 Great question. I hope they can block it. I hope they can too, but they have not stopped him anything else, so I am sure this will be no different. But Obama has almost a full year left There are people in my Facebook feed talking about armed insurrection over it.  Last I checked, Obama was elected to a four year term. This is the beginning of year four. Any attempt to block his appointment is subverting the lawfully elected government.  I hope people do rebel, and are drone striked into puddles of goo. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted February 14, 2016 Gary, when I was eight, I begged to stay up late to color in the map in my weekly reader with my red and blue crayon. I majored in political science in college. I had a party for the 2000 election that had guests still there two days later.  I say this to point out that politics used to be very very important to me.  I like you. I find your politics insane, but you are a good man. I would like to give a bit of advice. Advice I followed during the bush years.  Take a breath. Step back. Live your life and don't let crap beyond your control in Washington do that to you. Find the joy around you and ignore the garbage in the media. All it is is a three ring circus to create the illusion that we are still a republic anyway.
Voltaire 4,556 Posted February 14, 2016 Liberals have been waiting for this day for years. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I'm guessing Obummer probably nominates the Indian guy from the DC Court that won unanimous approval a few years back, see what MCConnell does with it.
