Aaron Rodgers 2019 and beyond

Recommended Posts

He is getting up there in age. He did nothing special fantasy wise this year, but he has also been injured all year. I'm wondering how people see his value for the future. He is actually a pretty injury prone player, so he definitely comes with risk.

Do you see him bouncing back to be a top 2 fantasy qb in the future?

Not really. And even if he is near the top, there are so many viable fantasy QBs with all the pass happy offenses it doesn't make much sense to pay for his name. Now if he drops into the 8th round or something, I'll consider it, but I doubt I'm willing to pay the draft capital it would cost to acquire him.

I see him as being a mid to low level QB1. He's on the decline. I certainly wouldn't draft him high any more.

He may have one more big year left where he is top 3 but that's not guarantee.

He is injury prone and it could be catching up to him. Pair that with the uncertainity surrounding the coaching staff and it's not looking very good that he rebounds with a vengeance.

I'm not saying he's a scrub or anything, he should still be a fantasy starter for at least the next 2-3 years with crazy week to week upside, but he's not an elite fantasy QB any more.

I made a $50 bar bet with my buddy 4 weeks ago. I said from this day forward Drew Brees will have more wins in the playoffs then Aaron Rodgers. He couldnt shake my hand fast enough. I figure in next two years Brees hopefully wins 3-4 games. I knew the packers wouldnt make playoffs this year so I would be able to get, hopefully, 1-2+ playoffs wins from Brees this season alone. I just think with Rodgers extensive injury history, his insane contract, and jay cutler like attitude he will win 1-2 games maybe. They better get a hell of a coach in there. They are gonna have serious issues with getting him any help Free Agent wise with his contract and the fact no FAs wanna play with him or in Green Bay. So they better build through the draft

I doubt you win that bet. Brees will prob hit the wall next year.

Even if he does, his team friendly deal has allowed the saints to build a team around him. Rodgers deal is going to make it difficult for the Packers to do the same.

Let’s keep saying great things about Rodgers.

I want to see him over rated again next season.

Someone always drafts him way to early.

I almost always wait for a QB late, but decided to go against it when I saw him in the 3rd round. Luckily Barkley, Thomas, Conner, and Schuster-Smith carried me.

Rodgers was actually the weak-link on that team and it ended up costing me in the playoffs even though I finished 13-1...I don't think I would do it again. I don't know what's wrong with him and that offense. I know he probably was 80% all year, but he doesn't seem the same..injured or not.

Would probably pull the trigger in the 4th round next year though. But he won't fall that late.

Early in my ff career I would sometimes take a Qb early.

Always regretted the move.

Always regretted the move.

I drafted P. Mannng early the year he blew up in Denver. I drafted Rodgers the first year he started pretty early. I won the Championship both years.

This year I reached for Watson....and was saved by grabbing Mahomie later,

The point is, drafting a QB early can pay huge dividends, if he has a spectacular and consistent year. Having that top 1-2 QB gives you an edge that can carry your team.

I think Rodgers has a P. Manning comeback type of year in him. He is ultra competitive and talented. His arm talent is sensational. I will be watching the Packers closely this off-season to see what they bring in to help him.....because they gotta know that the window is closing.

Will it just depends on how things turn out.

Based on ff today poin ttotal for qbs, it looks like of the top 12 point scores at Qb 8 of them where late draft picks.

1 Mahomes.

2 Big Ben

3 M Ryan

4 A luck

5 Newton

6 J Goff

9 P rivers

10. K Cousins.

8 out of the top 12.

I’ll stick to picking one late.

Post #10 talks about three seasons when it paid off. No question it can, but it hasn’t for me was my post.

And I see a lot of people posting their winning teams, and I see a lot of those teams where capt by late qb draft picks.

I’m sure I’ll me the one missing out.

Some years the top drafted QBs play like top drafted QBs. Some years they don't. When they don't, it's obvious where the later drafted qbs thrive. This year was pretty hard on highly drafted qbs. Almost all of them busted.

I have never drafted a QB before round 5. Ever. You can get two very solid QB's in the later rounds and alternate them. On my best team this year, I have Rivers and Luck.

Rodgers isn't done, but he seems to not care this season. Taking away Jordy made a huge impact. They were friends, which sometimes carries as much weight as being a good team combo. People blame the old GM for many of their woes. Well, the new guy brought in a very unproductive Graham and a D-Lineman who hasn't done anything at all. They could have kept Jordy for one more season and been better off. They need a guy with deep speed to take the lid off, a RB who can stay healthy, and at least one powerful offensive Guard with a nasty disposition. They have cream puffs along their line currently. Everyone screams about them needing defense. Well, you can only obtain so many players in one offseason. When you have Rodgers, Adams, and some other youngsters (they will release Cobb this offseason), it makes more sense to me if they go all out and try to outscore people. Bring in a deep guy and a damn good interior lineman in the draft. Throw in a legit TE (there are a few in this upcoming draft) and suddenly you have an offense potentially capable of scoring some points again. Drafting scrubs in the 5th round or later, and hoping they pan out isn't exactly a solid approach. I hate how they draft. They are wasting Rodger's talent by making him carry the offense alone. What did the Chiefs do? They knew offense would be their strength and they played to it in the offseason. Same for the Rams last season. While the Chargers are good on defense, they took Williams last year to give Rivers another option, along with a good TE and help along the line. Just sayin, Green Bay hasn't drafted very well in my opinion.

Without a doubt, he has the potential to be a top 3 fantasy QB for a few more years. That said, I would never touch him for where he's going to go in the draft. Someone will take him off name recognition alone in the 3rd round. It won't be me.

You can stream QBs all year if you want. Play matchups and you will probably end up with an average of 17-20 pts which puts you in top 6 qb range. Dont draft qb early

Cool bet.....I made a $100 bet with a Texan homer that Desean Watson will never make a Super Bowl appearance as a Houston Texan qb

^^^ This ^^^^

I never draft QBs before Round 8. This year I got Cam Newton in the 9th and Andrew Luck in the 11th. Currently the #8 and #4 QBs in our league, respectively. Rodgers went in the 3rd in our league, which is very unusual. Usually there is always one owner that takes him in the 1st or 2nd.

Well, in the one league I missed Mahomie in, Rodgers fell far enough for me to grab him. I'm gonna roll with him this year, and hope that they have made the necessary adjustments to help him thrive again. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind about his talent.

That said, I may sit him one week this year.....week one at the Bears. After his preseason week 3 debacle, Winston fell to 13th and I couldn't resist based on potential trade bait alone. Might roll him out at home against SF week one and hope for the best.

I'm going to give you all some tips on finding the best QBs.  Go to yahoo nfl stats for 2018 QB leaders (you can check 2017 too) for QB leaders, look at (sort by) Y/A (yards per attempt) https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/individual/?sortStatId=PASSING_YARDS_PER_ATTEMPT&selectedTable=0 , that along with volume (pass attempts per game, and you want at least 20 completions per game), yards per game https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/individual/?sortStatId=PASSING_YARDS_PER_GAME&selectedTable=0 (this should be 265+ per game), also rushing yards can make up for a lack in passing yards, and finally look at touchdowns https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/individual/?sortStatId=PASSING_TOUCHDOWNS&selectedTable=0 .

I think the same, he’s going to be good, but I don’t think he will be a top 7 Qb in ff this season.

Rodgers seems a like a safe pick to finish top 10, but top 5 is debatable.  Which is why his ADP is too high for my taste.

He has one thing going for him.  He has to perform for the new coach or he's going to get labeled as a player that can't be coached.  Now that he ran off Mcarthy, he needs to show that it wasn't him.  That should motivate him.

Yeah, he’s ranked too high on most draft boards.  I didn’t realize that his production last year was his lowest in a while.  Injuries added to that but it is what it is.  He’s getting up there and just isn’t quite as good as he used to be.  He’s at the bottom of the tier 1 and probably pushing to get into tier 2 at this stage.  Let someone else draft him too high.  I think Russell Wilson and some others will be available later than Rodgers and will have better stats.
