  1. The three new owners will participate in a 24-team dispersal draft of players and picks from vacated teams as well players from free agency. The dispersal draft will take place on MFL, but the league will be run on fleaflicker.com. The dispersal draft will be a slow draft with a 6 time limit per pick although if the the three participants are free to find a time to do a live draft if they wish. Participants will be allowed to trade dispersal picks to existing teams for players/draft picks. After the dispersal draft, there will be a 4 round rookie/free agent draft. I plan to have the dispersal draft begin the morning of Monday May 17th although I'll start it earlier if all three participants want to start the draft earlier. League now full. MFL is the best pay site. I like fleaflicker the most among the free sites.

    #10 Pick in PPR league

If you can get two of the following: Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss, then I'd definetely go WR/WR.

Who do you see falling in the rookie draft?

Disagree that there are about 20 guys that are about the same after the top 10 Top tier (4 players) - Knowshon Moreno, Michael Crabtree, Chris Wells, and Donald Brown Second tier (5 players) - LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin, Hakeem Nicks, Matt Stafford, and Jeremy Maclin Third tier (5 players) - Shonn Greene, Mark Sanchez, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Brian Robiskie, and Kenny Britt 3.5 tier (1 player) - Andre Brown - All-around RB that went to the Giants, who have done a great job of selecting and developing mid-round RBs in recent year. Fourth tier ( 5 players) - Brandon Pettigrew - Could become a security blanket for Stafford Brandon Tate - 1st round talent, but went in the 3rd round because of injuries and off the field issues Bernard Scott - 2nd-3rd round talent that went in the 6th round because of five arrests Josh Freeman - In actuality, 1st round QBs have about the same success rate as 1st round WRs. Gartrell Johnson - Don't know much about him but like the N.Y. Giants, the Chargers have had excellent success with drafting RBs. Total: 20 players above and beyond the rest and 14-15 players worth a 1st round pick. debatable Jared Cook - Needs to learn to block to stay on the field Glenn Coffee - drafted in the 3rd round, but drafted to be a Leon Washington type RB and has Frank Gore in front of him Mike Thomas - good talent, but under 5'8 Mohamed Massaquoi - 2nd round draft pick, but inconsistent Overrated: Austin Collie - Brandon Stokley only had one great season in Indy as a slot WR. Dallas Clark, although a TE, has assumed that role in recent years. James Davis - Jamal Lewis might not be a very good RB, but Davis probably isn't either, otherwise the Browns would have taken him earlier. Jerome Harrison is just as likely to steal the starting role from Lewis as Davis. Also, it's very likely the future starting RB for the Browns isn't currently on the roster. I count 20 players that are above and beyond the rest.

    Comeback Players = Fantasy Gold

This isn't the original topic, but here are some players who I think are a good value for where they are currently being selected on fantasyfootballcalculator.com. Marques Colston (3.02) - 9th WR taken Anthony Gonzalez (5.10) - 22nd WR taken Eddie Royal (6.06) - 25th WR taken Torry Holt (7.10) - 32nd WR taken Kevin Walter (8.07) - 35th WR taken Devin Hester (8.08) - 37th WR taken Brian Robiskie (13.12) - 61st WR taken - most polished rookie WR. I could easily see him catch 60 passes, 800 yards, and 5-7 touchdowns. Wasn't a first rounder because he doesn't have a ton of upside. Mark Bradley - going undrafted on average Marshawn Lynch (4.03) - 19th RB taken Reggie Bush (4.06) - 20th RB taken - just PPR formats Chris Wells (6.03) - 29th RB taken - #1 RB in one of the league's best offenses Cedric Bensen (6.12) - 31st RB taken Donald Brown (7.10) -34th RB - should finish the season somewhere in the 20s for RBs David Garrard (11.10) - 19th QB taken Dustin Keller (12.09) - 13th TE taken Jeremy Shockey (12.04) - 12th TE taken

    Comeback Players = Fantasy Gold

I think Ryan Grant is overrated actually. His ADP for a 12-team league on fantasyfootballcalculator.com is currently 3.09 and on average he's the 16th running back taken. Running backs being taken after him: Pierre Thomas (3.10), Kevin Smith (3.10), Marshawn Lych (4.03), Reggie Bush (4.06), and Knowshon Moreno (4.07).
  7. bump. One owner has dropped out. See main post for details.

  10. There are about 3 to 5 spots left (9 have joined). Once we get a few more we'll decide/vote on a few things: 1.) When the draft will start 2.) Whether we want to have a one sitting draft or a slow draft (if we have a slow draft we'd all have to decide what the penalty would be for picking a player that's already been picked. 3.) Whether we want the draft order predetermined (would allow people to trade picks if they want). We would need to find someone on footballguys.com not in the league to use random.org for us if we want to do this. 4.) Whether or not we want to have a flex position (the other 9 positions are for sure). Also I changed the draft from "straight" to "snake" to be safe to make sure this draft snakes (it was showing it as straight before). All future rookie/free agent drafts will be straight style.
  11. Since there don't seem to be PM capabilities on this forum, here is the message I PMd people on footballguys.com. Feel free to join now or you can wait until we make sure we have 12 to 14 owners before deciding whether or not to join. Also, if you rules/league settings look off, let me know. Looks like we will be able to get 12-14 owners so I went ahead and set up the league on fleaflicker.com. league password: kiper league name: Gridiron Geeks League Make sure when you uncheck "Show only public leagues I can join" when searching for the league. If you can't find the league or don't want to search for it, I can invite you to the league if you send me your email.
  12. There wouldn't ever be any league fees and there won't be a prize for the winner unless someone decides that they want to donate one. I myself don't want to be a commisioner of a money league as I don't want to deal with the hassle of getting money from everyone each season. Since this league isn't for money, I don't expect people to be as hardcore as they are in their money leagues. The only requirement I have is that members will make sure they don't start people who have been out for more then one week (like Colston last year), on IR, on a bye week, on the PUP list, or not on an NFL team.
  13. Update:League Full. Thanks. Previous information: First, let me say I've never played in a dynasty league before. I've been looking to join a PPR startup dynasty league for the last couple of months but haven't really seen one in my price range. Anyways, I came across fleaflicker.com which supports dynasty leagues and trading of future draft picks. If you're interested, please PM or respond in this thread. I'd like to make the league 12 or 14 teams so if I can 11-13 other interested owners, I'll go ahead with starting the league. Basically, I expect that owners won't start players who are on their bye week, have been out for more then a week (for example, like Colston last year), or on IR. This has been a problem in other non money leagues/hometown leagues and is the one thing I want to avoid in this league. If you do any of these things without a valid excuse, you won't be invited back. As long as you do those things, you wouldn't ever be kicked out of the league. Owners who would consider trading would be a plus but in no way required. I certainly wouldn't expect the league to be as active as a money or hometown league. Assuming I can manually edit rosters on fleaflicker.com, I would pool all players and draft picks from abandoned teams each seasons and have new owners draft those players through a dispersal draft. I think that would make the league more appealing to future owners. I'd try to find a time that works for the most people. Based on what people want, we could have the draft in June, July, or early August. Some of this could be changed, but here's a rough rundown of how I might set up the league scoring -12 or 14 team league -starters: 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1TE, 1K, 1 Team defense, and probably 1 Flex (RB, WR, or TE) for a total of 10 starter spots -probably 24 players per roster (based on browsing dynasty league threads) -After the 1st season we would have a 3 to 4 round rookie draft each season. decimal scoring 1pt/25 yards passing 1pt/10 yards rushing 1pt/10 yards receiving 0.5pts/reception (all positions) 6 pts/passing, rushing, receiving, KR, and PR touchdowns -2 pts/interceptions and lost fumbles 2 pts/2 pt conversions field goals (3-5 pts based on distance) extra points (1 pt per extra pt. made) missed field goals or extra points (potentially small penalties - 1 pt on missed xps and 0-1 pts on missed field goals - depending on distance) team defense - 2 pts/safety, sack, interception 6 pts/defensive touchdown bonuses depending on how many point the defense gives up. Keeper Leagues

14-team 3 Lifetime keeper league (no position limits so I could keep 3 RBs) .5 PPR, 1 pt per 20 yards receiving/rushing, 1 pt per 50 yards passing, 6 points for all TDs, and -2 pt per interception/fumble. (fractional scoring) Right now I'm leaning towards keeping Larry Fitzgerald, Matt Forte, and Calvin Johnson. I also have Jay Cutler, Chris Johnson, Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, Ronnie Brown, and Marques Colston on my team.

    Going to the Championship

I've made it to the playoffs and now the championship game for the first time ever in my 14-team 3-life time keeper (every combination allowed) hometown league. League rules are: 6 points for all TDs, 1 point per 50 yards passing, 1 point per 20 yards receiving/rushing, .5 points per reception, and -2 points per fumble/interception. There is fractional scoring so I would get .75 points if one of my players ran for 15 yards in a game. My team: QB: Jay Cutler (BUF) RB: Matt Forte (GB), Pierre Thomas (@DET), Ronnie Brown (@KC), Chris Johnson (PIT), Reggie Bush (IR), Tashard Choice (BAL), Maurice Morris (NYJ), P.J. Pope (BUF) WR: Larry Fitzgerald (@NE), Calvin Johnson (NO), Marques Colston (@DET) TE: Owen Daniels (@OAK) K: Matt Prater (BUF) DEF: Philadelphia (@WAS) My opponent (3-time league champion and 5th consecutive championship appearance): QB: Matt Schaub (@OAK), Matt Cassel (ARI), Gus Frerotte (ATL) RB: Marshawn Lynch (@DEN), DeShaun Foster (@STL), Fred Jackson (@DEN), Darren Sproles (@TB) WR: Andre Johnson (@OAK), Roddy White (@MIN), Brandon Marshall (BUF), Mark Clayton (@DAL) TE: Jason Witten (BAL), Dustin Keller (@SEA) K: Ryan Longwell (ATL) DEF: Baltimore (@DAL) Starters in bold Obviously the reason why I have so many running backs is because #2 RB is the only weakness in my opponents very talented team (had Big Ben & NY Giants defense until the beginning of the week). Collecting RBs will be all for nothing though if Frank Gore doesn't play this week. I would be surprised if my opponent doesn't switch to Cassel before kickoff.
