Tax Plan

I don't think there is going to be one. Too thin a margin in the Senate. It's going to be interesting watching the fireworks if it doesn't.

At one point, they were apparently talking about sneaking in something about the individual mandate for Obamacare.

Dudes, that's been like your 10th bite at the Apple. Let It Go.

Going to be Mighty tough going back home for the holidays and not having a single bit of major legislation to show for the entire year where they controlled literally everything.

Fock 'em.

Trump Republicans > Democrats > McConnell Republicans

-or written another way-

Republican voters > Democrats > Republican politicians

I hope Steve Bannon successfully replaces the lot of them.

Truer words.......

I honestly would prefer a Democrat controlled Senate to McConnells.

Youre really doubling down on this Trump thing, huh?

I wouldve thought youd be smart and humble enough to admit it was a catastrophic mistake.

Not saying any of the others are good, but that doesnt somehow make Trump okay.

No.

I like Trump voters, not Trump.

If Trump was running the country on the Trump campaign's agenda I'd have his back. He's not. He doesn't really have core principles and the Bannon types lost out the the McConnell Republicans so he's allowing the Republicans in Congress to dictate it's terms on policy to him and those guys all endorsed Jeb! not him.

Hillary > Jeb!

Just heard that they might be trying to make this retroactive.

Bad move politically. If people start seeing in real terms that they are net losers then there's no way that Trump can hide behind the CBO is lying or the CBO was wrong about X Y and Z in the past!

If you're going to do this, best make it effective 2019 after midterms at least.

I am virtually certain that you could not legally make this retroactive.

Stay the course. The Trump hate has turned people nuts over here. They all hate him, but it's all personal. Whiny snowflakes. If he had hooted and hollared in front of those indians yesterday, the press would have had a field day, then we would have all slept soundly. "Outrage" sells and too many are buying.

I have not been paying attention to it. Does anyone know if the changes that Ron Johnson wanted - any of them - have been implemented?

I tend to have the same opinion as he does on this plan: it doesn't adequately make taxes an even playing field for different types of businesses; it compartmentalizes winners/losers.

Trump told Johnson his concerns would be addressed if he moved it out of committee.

That sounds dangerous, and I would be concerned about it. Sounds exactly like how Dems promised Reagan that they'd pass $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax increases he'd pass.

Maybe not. He still needs Johnsons vote. Only two to spare.

PASSED!! HEEEELLLLLL YEEAAHHHH!!!!!

Dropping from the 28% to 24-25% bracket is going to save the mmmmm...beer's about $6,200-8200 in taxes a year! Wooo hooo..

Also my man Ted Cruz got a sneaky one in and we're going to be able to utilize 529 monies to pay for the kids K-12 private school! Yes... another savings of about 4k in taxes a year!

didn't catch the 529 but that is awesome. If the voucher program ever goes into effect I can afford to send my son to the best private school around

also when does it go into effect? Cause I might need to roll some income into next year

Well thats the Senates bill.. so now the Senate and the house leadership will get together and hash out the differences. Hopefully the 529 school thing stays, but we'll see.

Once they get a combined bill worked out, they all revote for it and the Pres signs it. They're lookimg to habe him do it this year, and everything would go into effect Jan 1. Won't effect this years taxes at all though.

That's the government, seems you can't do anything without adding billions/trillions to the debt.

We are screwed either way

The Republicans that like to talk about the deficit deep down, don't give a . It's a just a talking point they feed us. There's an complete of conviction throughout their entire delegation. The Washington Generals have a better winning record against the Harlem Globetrotters than the Republican 'deficit hawks' have of affecting a single line item in a budget bill.

How much did the last one add?

A mere $5.6 trillion thus far.

So I guess this one is cheap in comparison. Mainly because theyre adding 13 million uninsureds and ending many other benefits for the poor and working class.

Greedy motherfockers

And no mmmbeer, Im not talking about you. This bill isnt for you. Much as you like to think youve got it made this is only for the truly rich out there

The deficit doubled under Obama, that's your sides attempt at reigning in the debt. You'll have to forgive me if I don't value anything that you and your ilk have to say on this topic.

How are they "adding" 13 million uninsured? If those people are paying the penalty instead of paying for insurance that means they don't have insurance now. They just won't have to pay the penalty anymore. Words......

You see, this just goes to show how little you understand about these things.

This bill HAS to kick people off insurance. Then you reduce subsidies paid out which helps the bill qualify for reconciliation. Thats the whole point.

So this idea that it doesnt kick anyone off insurance is a massive failure of understanding from the get go.

At any rate, the projection of 13 million uninsured is based off people who have or would buy insurance with the individual mandate but now will not. Its true the mandate was pretty toothless in actual application to any single uninsured person, but it still had the psychological effect of encouraging people to get insured generally.
