RoadLizard 73 Posted December 18, 2017 Yeah it is - stemming from Atlanta last year to this riduculous BS...its CLEAR that the NFL wants NE to keep winning and be the "bad guys" aka WWF. It keeps people watching. No wonder why viewership is way down and people are tired of it. How fixed can you get? Whatever. The League has less integrity than a mafia bosses financial records. Those are facts. That was a TD - he broke the plane so its a TD..... but nope. OK. Right. How can anyone takes this seriously anymore? A complete debacle and joke. RoadLizard 73 Posted December 18, 2017 A great game ends up coming down to !@#$% replay garbage where he catch rules are 100% ambiguous. Get rid of replay. And stop handing wins to NE.
seafoam1 1,878 Posted December 18, 2017 If anything other than it being called a straight up TD, it should have been labeled a catch, then a fumble, then a recovery. But even that is silly cause how can you fumble once you cross the goal line. He had it with both hands, then reached across the goal line with it. So a catch, then an instant TD before his hands hit the ground. Just wow. Worst call of the decade. Amd I didn't have any stake in that play. FF or fandom. Gratefulegg1973 253 Posted December 18, 2017 The NFL is a joke. Stupid call, stupid rule, and stupid move by Ben to throw into quadruple coverage the next play. Great game, ruined by the stupidity of the league
jimaveli 119 Posted December 18, 2017 Its a horrible rule so of course it will lead to bad sh..stuff like catches not being catches. And the refs get caught trying to go letter of the law instead of logical. No matter what, theres subjectivity to consider. The game would be so much better if refs erred on the side of ruling plays like that as catches.
murf74 461 Posted December 18, 2017 i have seen guys catch and spike having less procession than James had. I welcome whatever the WWE has planned to compete with this garbage. And you dont see this type of crap in NCAA

And what do you know - another cheesey call that goes whos way? Guess. Yep - The ultimate "asterisk" team in the history of the league. Anyone by now that still finds any of NE's "accomplishments" legit is a pure sucker. Its comical at this point. Who could even stomach watching the Super Bowl at this pointif NE gets there, which they certainly will? How can anyone takes this seriously anymore? Are the fans that dumb? Just give NE the SB and lets be done with it. Its what the league wants. Clearly.
seafoam1 1,878 Posted December 18, 2017 How is it not a "football move" to catch the ball in both hands, then turn your body and reach over the goal line with the ball in both hands? He was already on the ground when he caught it. So how was he going to the ground with the ball?

slacker1989 2 Posted December 18, 2017 Looked like a catch... the ball broke the plane then moved.... How is that not a TD?? Unreal He was going to the ground in the process of making the catch. When a receiver is going to the ground during the catch, he must maintain possession through the ground. He didn't and a hand came of the ball, the ball was on the ground... no catch. boilerddd 62 Posted December 18, 2017 The way the ridiculous rule is being interpreted I was not shocked at the call. In fact, when I saw the replay the first time I knew the idiots where going to overturn. The rules and incessant replays are ruining the game. The cameras and technology of replay etc have created this insanity. Stop reviewing every scoring play. If you go to the replay, they should play it once for the guy reviewing it. If its not obvious enough to make a change with a super quick review the play stands. Just stop with the 5 minute reviews with 5 angles at super solo motion. brotherbock 349 Posted December 18, 2017 Didn't see this play, not commenting on this one. But it's interesting that every single current rule in the NFL regarding a catch, not a catch, reviewed scoring play, etc, is in place because people complained about some 'big deal play' that this rule would have fixed had it been in place. Past complaints led to current rules--that's how it is. It's a bit silly to think that getting rid of such-and-such a rule would somehow 'fix' the game clearly and forever. We'd just be back to when people were complaining about how not having that rule was ruining games. It's an open question as to how many people would be complaining compared to now. But we shouldn't pretend like there wouldn't be complaints and future games 'ruined' by the absence of the rule.

Catch and make football move is a completion is another rule. Breaking a plane of goal line with procession of ball is another. Ball can hit ground ifnit doesnt aid catch. Chose your poison above And its a TD. No one with common sense watches that play and calls it incomplete.

Captain Goomy Noomy Roo 47 Posted December 18, 2017 LOL - how is it a catch? Player did not complete the process - clearly the ball moved when it hit the ground. Refs got it right. Pats stay focused during the no-catch correct call and then intercept on the next play to win. I knew someone was ready to knock off Pit. Brady and Gronk were on a tear at the end. Go Pats. Loved it! jaxjag 43 Posted December 18, 2017 They looked very beatable. In fact they were beat except for obscure interpretation of stupid rule technicality judgement call I know its a tough way to lose a big game but the rule is what it is and is far from obscure. Receivers need to secure the ball first and worry about scoring second. No doubt he lost control of the ball.
jimaveli 119 Posted December 18, 2017 The Pats are great and have been for a long time. James had 1 hand under the ball the whole time after getting open with the game on the line. Both can possibly be true at the same time. Id much rather the rules in those situations slant towards offensive players who manage to beat the coverage in tight situations. Most folks would regardless of who the involved players and teams are.

Even though the rule seems a bit silly in instances like this, Dez, Megatron, etc. Atleast it can be clearly interpreted.
seafoam1 1,878 Posted December 18, 2017 Another game where the Pitt coaching staff is out coached. How were they out coached? If the QB just doesn't throw a pick, Pitt is fine. It sometimes just gets down to the players doesn't it?
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted December 18, 2017 The rule is flawed, but it was applied correctly on review. After the fact, that was a dumb pass to throw. Ask Pete Carroll.
weepaws 2,452 Posted December 18, 2017 If they kick a fg doesn't that game play on. I think that would have been a good move at that time. I think that's a call the coaches would make, I pretty sure Big Ben doesn't make those calls. Bad coaching move again. The Partiots own them, and it's always because of coaching. The Bill and his staf are just amazing. Truly have too be considered the best football dynasty ever.

weepaws 2,452 Posted December 18, 2017 Nope tie that game up. With that little bit of time on the clock, and your the home team, you play too win the game, and sometimes that means too extend the game into over time. Road team go for the win, home team less then what ten seconds left tie the game. Bad call, coaching mistake.
