Keeper Time - Insight Appreciated

Recommended Posts

Standard League - Don't mind the extremely poor point scale in my league as I have no control over it

QB - 3 points for a TD, 1 point every 50 yards passing, no penalty for fumbles or interceptions

RB/WR/TE - 6 points for a TD, 2 points every 25 yards rushing or receiving, no penalty for fumbles

Top Options - I get to keep 2 players for 3 years

Antonio Brown - No doubt keeper, so takes 1 of the 2 spots

Aaron Rodgers

Kenyan Drake

Mike Evans

I do have the 2nd draft position in this league so I could easily pick up one of my other keeper options players with that pick. Saquon Barkley (depending on where he is drafted) will be a target of mine at that position too.

Thank you, leave a link, and have a great off-season!

I'm not in any keeper leagues, so take this for what ever it's worth.

Now you list Brown as a no doubt keeper, where does he rank after Big Ben retires.

I don't think there's any doubt Big Ben will retire.

So I was wondering about your own personal ranking of him, when that does happen.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

That will hurt Antonio Brown's value immensely. All I can do is hope that he doesn't. He will be 36 next year so it is creeping closer to that time. If he wins a championship this year I could see him riding off into the sunset.

Good insight. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it, but as of now my question stands as is.

Keepers - Brown, Rogers, Evans

If you have any questions about Brown's value if Ben retires just trade him. He's still Antonio Brown and has great name value.

If Big Ben retires I very well may just trade him on draft day. My leagues do not allow trading in the off-season. I actually obtained Antonio Brown draft day this year when I traded McCoy straight up for him.

Weepaws hates Ben and hopes he retires because he has been predicting for so long. You keep Brown there is no doubt on that. Then you keep Evans

No not long, just when Ben was talking about doing so after last season.

Do you think he returns next season?

Unless he wins a super bowl he comes back. The entire offense comes back and a young defense with more experience he wanna s a ring for his linemen

I agree he wants another Super Bowl win.

But he has said he was close too calling it quits last season.

I this time he will leave.

We shall see

I know you have been saying he is washed up too. Hearts not in it etc. of course you will keep predicting retirement until it happens

It's all about what he said this past offseason.

I even heard him speak at some Christian retreats this past off season, he's a true believer on the truth.

And he spoke of how close and serious he was about leaving after last season.

Hey it's no problem, I know that it will be tough times for Steelers fans in the near future.

Thanks for the chat.

You assume steelers dont invest heavily in a replacement. This isnt the Browns.

if he retires ? Ask me in April when we know QBs who declare and what teams do in NFL free agency at qb. Including Pitt

Solid qbs are hard to come by. Hall of fame qbs...even harder. I think they get Ben to stay one more year if they dont win. They clearly have to draft someone to wait in the wings. I dont see them paying an arm and a leg for a Kirk Cousins. It would not work.

They are going to want another big kid to deal with the borderline dirty AFC North defenses, harsh weather, and constant flow of outside games. They have to consider their horrible home stadium field as well. Also, someone has to be ready to deal with the pats and a potentially revived Broncos. And dont look now but the Jags might be on their way to being formidable for a few years too.

Jimmy G is about to get a blank check to stay with the Niners. Alex Smith probably would not work either. I just do not see the magical free agent.

Great point about Cousins.

He would be a good fit, but no way will the Steelers pay him his market price.

Good points except have to corrrct..,.

Heinz field has been great for years. They changed design and replace turf after high school championship Games. Check highlights from pats game. Phenomenal shape.

Don't see Palmer, Bradford, or Mccown being someone they would bring in.

Cousins as noted would be the best one, but they don't have a history of signing a player that will cost that much.

Eli is either a Gmen or he's watching tv with his Brother next season.

Smith and Keenum I can see getting a shot, until they develop someone.

Any great post and thanks.

Happy New Year.

mark it down

Cousins, Eli, Keenum, Mccown, Palmer, Bradford, Smith could all be options

I see them signing someone like Keenum to replace Ben if he retires and draft a QB

You need a bridge veteran and he would fit the bill. I think Alex Smith would be a fit as well. But I see him at a high price tag.

One thing is for sure Steelers will not waste this stacked team by not addressing qb if Ben leaves

Check out Josh Allen QB from Wyoming m

Just watched a replay of their bowl game.

He said big QB like Ben and his highly ranked.

Don't know if they can reach him, but he looks good.

He does remind me of Ben. Had a down year but lost all his weapons. Pretty sure steelers have been scouting since beginning of year.

Yeah even the tv commentators where listing some of the NFL teams that where at that game.

Steelers where one of those teams.

Just not too sure if they can make a move high enough too get him, but he would be a good pick.

Big Ben is a $23.2 million cap hit next year for the Steelers if he plays. If he doesn't, then that sounds like enough money to start the conversation of adding Cousins.

Cousins will not find a better fit and he already has tens of millions of dollars and will continue to get over 20 million a season no matter where he plays. The Redskins could franchise tag him again for the last time, but that would cost $34.5 million. Or they could work out a long term deal. If the Redskins let Cousins walk via free agency and Ben retires then Cousins as a Steeler seems like a real possibility. Cousins wants to prove himself and win.

Would you be worried about losing Aaron Rodgers to the guy with the first pick?

If not, I would keep Brown and Evans, then draft Rodgers back with your second pick.

If you think you would lose Arod, then I would keep him and Brown.

That's just my own .02. As I do believe Evans is a stud, and this was just a bad year.

The guy with the first pick is a converted Packers fan recently so I could very well see him going after Aaron Rodgers with the first overall pick, which I will call 1.1.

If I really want all 3 of these players I would probably have to keep Rodgers and AB as I think I have a better chance at snagging Evans at the 1.2 pick. I live in the Midwest so no way he makes it through the whole first round and get back to me at 2.2.

I have my eyes set on Saquon Barley, even if the Browns pick him as he is being very highly touted. That makes me think whichever 2 players I keep will be the only keeper worthy players returning to my squad. Thanks for the response!

Agree that Cousins wants too win, and I agree that it would appear too be a good matchup.

Still not too sure that the Steelers will sign him based on what they will need too pay him.

I can't recall them being very active when it comes too chasing high priced F/A.

But I like it if they do.

Then I'd do Arod and Brown. Grab Barkley at 1.2 because your heart is set on it. Then you go from there.

In Peter King's article, fwiw, said Browns may target Allen at 1 (or suppose 4)

I saw that. That means Barkley has a good chance to be drafted by the colts. I like that scenario.
