For a million dollar base? You would think that JC would have some self respect. That million dollars probably pays for as much about the KC offense and defense as he can describe the the Broncos.

I hope he has a nice ending to his career like Neil Smith, 2 Super Bowl Championships! Unlikely but a guy can hope.

Good low risk move by Denver. These guys make some extra bank in the playoffs too.

I'd like to see Charles have a good year

Agree, It's a very good move for the Broncos.

And makes for another tough Rb situation for ff.

If he can stay healthy it would be a good move. Not sure if he can. I thought he'd end up in Philly or TB.

I'm not sure he can either, but if he can than its a no lose situation for the Broncos.

I don't see him being worthy of a ff pick up.

If he can return to form and stay healthy, the Broncos will have got one hell of a deal.

If the Denver offense improves (and I think it will with the new faces) this team could well be a superbowl contender again.

Do you see him doing so Ray?

I don't.

I don't think he will be what he once was.

But I still think it's a good move for the Broncos.

But it sure does make it tough for ff.

I think Booker will be better, only because he has one season under his belt.

It has all the looks of another ff nightmare.

A lot depends on the Broncos offensive line. Jamaal Charles of 2013 would've struggled for Denver last season.

It's tough to say. I know he had some issues with his knee bouncing back from the last surgery. but in the old days, that was the norm and not the exception. 1.5-2 years recovery for ACL surgery. Now the expectation is to be back and ready to play in less than a year, but I think that only happens if everything goes right.

At this point I have to believe he was given a thorough physical by the doctors and his knee checked out okay. I cannot see them signing him otherwise. so I'm going to assume the doctors did their job here.

This being said, I think it is possible for him to recover and be able to play at the same level (assuming they make him the bell cow back)

what I question is whether he will be able to do it for the full season in that scenario. The position of RB is a difficult one. It's very physical. most RB's who retire at 30 or 31 dont retire because they cant get it done. They retire because their body takes too much abuse and they cant take it. (too many injuries)

so what I think is likely to happen, is that there are two possibilities:

1) They make Charles the Bell cow back and he will be productive immediately. For me the real question is how long it will last in that scenario.

My bet is 8-12 games, but it could easily be less or more.

2) he could fill a Danny Woodhead type role. -The big advantage with this guy is his pass catching skills are very good, so he could potentially fit a Danny Woodhead type role on this team with CJ Anderson doing most of the short yardage and between the tackles running. I'd expect a lot of 2 back sets. This may be the most likely scenario.

so I'd expect CJA to get 800 yards rushing with some receiving yards, and Charles will get 4-500 yards rushing with an equal (or slightly greater) yardage receiving. In this scenario, he may get through the whole year healthy.

In terms of fantasy value, I would say hes either a low end RB2 or a high end RB3. (take your pick) based on the risks and all info available today.

What you dont do is you dont draft him based on what he did in the past. I think that would be a mistake.

I just can't see him being any higher than a rb3.

I don't know he's 30 and has played in eight games over the last two seasons.

And Anderson is still on the team and I would agree he would be the better fit for the short yardage work.
