Suggested Team Improvements and a Trade Offer

Trade: I was offered Matt Forte RB and Chris Johnson RB for Adrian Peterson, who I selected at #1 in our 8 team draft.

League has Standard Settings and Lineups - 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex WR/RB, 1 Kicker, 1 DEF Team, 6 Bench.

WR1 - Dez Bryant
WR2 - A.J. Green
Flex - UNDECIDED
TE - Jermichael Finley

Kicker - Stephen Gostkowski
DEF - Arizona Cardinals

Bench
QB - Colin Kaepernick
RB - Rashard Mendenhall
RB - Daryl Richardson
WR - DeSean Jackson
WR - Mike Wallace
WR - Anquan Boldin
TE - Rob Gronkowski

As this is only an 8 team league, as such there are lots of sleepers still available. i.e.
*WR - Denarius Moore, Greg Little, DeAndre Hopkins, Michael Floyd, Golden Tate
*RB - Andre Brown, Shane Vereen, Pierre Thomas, Jacquizz Rodgers, Ben Tate, Johnathan Franklin, Danny Woodhead, Shonn Greene.

 

Note: The guy who proposed the trade also has M.Lynch, Amendola, Fitzgerald, G.Bernard, R.Matthews, V.Davis, F.Davis, S.Smith, Seahawks DEF.

 

I would appreciate your views on the potential trade as well as constructive opinions about my team and suggestions you have for improving it.

Yes I'd make this trade. I know it sound stupid to trade AP, but in an 8-team league most teams are loaded, and your RB core (other than AP) is very weak. I think Forte and CJ are gonna have great seasons. I'd do it. I'd start Richardson in your flex for now and see how your other WR's do. when Gronk comes back you'll be pretty good. I might start Kaep over Luck, but not sure yet. Maybe play the matchups with those two. Maybe try to find a way to get Vereen on your team? You could use more RBs.

Thanks @bfros for a number of suggestions there. Yeah, Kaepernick or Luck starting is going to be based on who they're playing each week.

 

I agree that I need RB depth or even another RB starter to fill my flex position. Would you pick up Vereen and drop Boldin?

No. I wouldn't trade AP for forte and CJ2K. Call me biased(AP won me championship and best record last year and CJ2k lost me a year before that) but with michael bush in chicago and greene in tennessee, you're throwing away stability at the RB position for a good player and a crapshoot. AP has no one behind him. not sure who you took at the 5/6 turn, im assuming DMAC and gronk which was probably a reach anyway. daryl richardson is starting in Stl so I would put him in your flex. youre only real option is to wait for DMAC to do well at the beginning and hope someone wants to trade for him with maybe wallace and upgrade your RB2. Since it's an 8 team, I doubt anyone really needs another qb so you're probably not going to be able to trade away luck or kap but if someone gets injured, push for the trade.
