What are your wurst traits?

Recommended Posts

Lets talk brats and sausages. What kind of meat you guys prefer? Pork, beef, mix, chicken apple etc. Spicy? Grilled or cooked another way?

Ask your mom, she knows all about my wurst.

She does love Vienna sausages so this is possible.

Love me some chorizo.

And whoever invented putting cheese inside a sausage is my focking hero.

This.

I like a tight packed sausage. It's a texture thing.

And, I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to food, but got to say no thanks to blood sausage.

Also a natural casing guy. It's got to have that snap.

Agree on chorizo.

The cheese in a sausage was probably invented in Milwaukee (see STD thread)

Best polish sausage I've ever had is from a small old time German meat market in Browerville MN. Konetzko's Meat Market.

Prefer? Probably pork...best Ive had as far as taking it home...Helds Meat Market off of 41 in Slinger WI.

Onion Brats from there are fantastic. Used to always stop there on the way to Brewer games to have something for the grill to tailgate when I was younger. The things are huge and don't really shrink up on the grill. Helds also has some of the best beef jerky I have ever had.

2nd favorite...Chicken Brats from Haen Meat market in Kaukauna WI are damn good.

Couple German places here have some good food too...Gerst Haus near Nissan Stadium...brats are ok...great beer...their Schnitzel is the go to there.

Oktoberfest that is now at the stupid Opry Mills Mall makes some good brats and has good german beers.

If we don't go to France with my Step Mom in a couple years (mainly because she taught french for years and has been multiple times and wants to show my kids the country)...Id like to go to Germany and I don't think she has been there...so that would be a plus...somewhere different for her to travel too.

Chorizo and Adndouille I find are really good when done right...and just awful when not. Very hit or miss.

There's Spanish vs Mexican chorizo.

The two have nothing in common.

one is literally about 70% fat.

Never really liked sausage. Probably second to bacon as the most overrated food. Kielbasa is OK I guess.

You should try the non vegan kind.

Man, lemme tell ya!

Last week I bought some spicy Johnsonville Brats, put them in a large sauce pan with a little water, apple juice & BBQ sauce. I then cooked them down until done as well as a sauce glaze consistency. Then grilled a bagel so that it's crunchy and chewy. I then took out the brat and cut it in half long ways so that it fit perfectly on a bagel.

Now what made this special was that it was a focking PRETZEL bagel!

Seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. :headbanger:

BTW......I ate 4 of them in 2 days

See, saying dumb sh!t like this is why vegans lose credibility.

No. It focking doesnt. Not even remotely close. If you put 100 links in front of me, one real and 99 vegan, I could find the real one in less than 20 seconds.

Its like my dad used to get on me about drinking real coke. Dirt tastes the same. You cant even tell the difference.

Wanna bet dad? Go pour as many glasses as you want. $100 says I can tell the difference instantly.

To be clear, I bet I could serve it and you wouldnt think it was fake

I dont think all animal product substitutes taste like the real thing, but some are pretty damn close.

Bunnys liver

Nice!!! Came in here to post this.

Boudin is my favorite though. If you've never had it, I drunkenly recommend it. Pork/crawfish is my favorite. They fill it with spices and encase it in pig entestines with rice. A staple of Cajun cooking.
