12th Man 884 Posted April 20, 2018 My daughter worked at McDonald's when she was in high school. A customer (white male) threw a cheeseburger at her because the cheese wasn't melted. Imagine she called the police because he assaulted her? She didn't even cook the cheeseburger, she was the cashier. No one even admonished the customer. Do you see the sliding rule? My daughter would be wasting the police officers time by calling them. Yet, 3, 4, 5 policemen needed to escort seated non-violent, non-belligerent, calm men out of a half empty Starbucks. She was probably rude to him when he tried to get another cheeseburger. She probably deserved it.
nobody 2,032 Posted April 20, 2018 Theres also a quote from a Starbucks official saying the stores are community hubs where people show up to hang / use the WiFi without actually buying anything ie buy something or leave is not Starbucks policy. Then why do they put locks with codes on the bathrooms?

avoiding injuries 1,220 Posted April 21, 2018 I found this, then I watched another of his videos and subscribed to his channel. This guy understands how it is. Guy gets it, while keeping it . His point at the end is the main takeaway. It isnt usually race, but the way you present yourself. Id be more suspicious of a white guy dressed down than a black guy dressed like he described he did at his census job. It isnt hard. * yes, Im aware this isnt an absolute

jerryskids 5,172 Posted April 22, 2018 You may have more impact going to a Famous Daves Interesting... we have one out here on ASU's campus in Tempe; the kids all love it and the clientele is, not surprisingly, mostly white. TBayXXXVII 2,107 Posted April 23, 2018 The point is, has anyone ever been arrested for this? Has a white person ever been arrested for this? Because it was a couple of black men, that's why the cops were called. But idk if they were being obnoxious or what Obviously not, duh. Because a white person would've left when asked the first time. FBI Surveillance Van 2 Posted April 23, 2018 In the movie The Founder, about Ray Kroc, McDonald's, they go into Kroc saying the problem with Hanburger stands back then was too many people hanging around and not buying anything. He designed his first restaurant to prevent that type of behavior. It was 1950's suburban California. I guess that was racist too, wanting to keep all those white freeloaders away? 3:39 PM EST
wiffleball 4,631 Posted April 23, 2018 It's a tough call for all these coffee shops. On the one hand, you pretty much have to supply free Wi-Fi these days. But then how do you control people posting up for three and four hours at a time? We had a place nearby that had the same kind of problems. All kinds of solutions have been tried throughout the country, probably throughout the world, but I sure don't have them.

Strike 3,950 Posted May 2, 2018 sure they didn't you must be new to earth They didn't have a case. They could have sued, and the city might have settled just to avoid the publicity, but if this actually went in front of a judge it'd get thrown out. The police did what they were supposed to do - removed two trespassers. There's no legal case there against the city.

Strike 3,950 Posted May 2, 2018 who said the police were in the wrong? the police didn't call 911 Well, the settlement you posted about was with the city, not Starbucks. FTA: Two black men arrested for sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything settled with the city Wednesday for a symbolic $1 each and a promise from officials to set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs. Voltaire 4,554 Posted May 2, 2018 I don't know that it was the black guys that were upset about it all or made a stink. Did anybody see them criticize Starbucks in the news? How long until Starbucks is the known as the homeless bath tub? http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2018/05/11/starbucks-schultz-bathrooms-open/ PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Starbucks executive chairman Howard Schultz now says Starbucks stores will open their bathrooms to everyone, regardless if they’ve made a purchase. Schultz said the company is changing its policy because it wants everyone to feel welcome. He went on to say, however, that Starbucks does not want to become a public restroom.
