Minimum wage increase is killing restaurants. Great job liberals.

Recommended Posts

I think we should stop the practice of tipping in the US. It takes the burden off the business owners to pay their employees. I paid for my food, now you pay your employee. It seems offensively Un-American to me.

PS I always tip very good, just saying.

The service would be terrible and you'd end up with people that barely speak English

A good server at a good restaurant makes 30+ an hour. you think a restaurant will pay them that much? GTFO

If you think the minimum wage battle is an income killer, wait till you see a Merica without all the illegal immigrants everyone wants to send over a wall. Your income will really start taking hits then.

Good to see you're ok with the exploitation of illegals.

Ideally tipping is merit based. The better the service, the better the tip. What's more American than that?

A business that pays its employees and doesn't rely on its customers to pay it for them. That's more American, lol.

Over my head?

Kid I got 20 years on you, you're the one that doesn't know sh1t

My baby momma has been a server her whole life, she manages a restaurant (2 of them, same guy owns them) she still waitresses too.

She works at a seasonal place, that is mobbed during the spring/summer. Has nice outside seating right on the ocean.

She takes home 400+ working a double from 12 to 10. She works her ass off and is great at being a server

That's 40 an hour.

What restaurant on earth would pay someone 40 an hour for being a waitress?

You're the one out of your league (as per usual)

Customers pay for everything one way or another. HTH. At least this case you have some discretion based on the service you get. And the good servers are able to earn more than their counterparts by doing an exemplary job.

You've openly admitted you are stupid on this board numerous times, I believe you.

Your baby mama is overpaid (probably blows the guy that owns the restaurant).

It will be even less American when millions of servers can't earn a living wage without tips and we all get to subsidize their food stamps.

How come that isn't the case in countries where tipping isn't necessary? Explain that one.

Because many other countries have a vastly higher min. wage than the U.S. When I was in Switzerland in 2003 the min wage back then was the equivalent of around $25 US / hour. You could conceivably live on that. Nobody can live on $7.50/hour or whatever it is over here.

The restaurant business model makes it far too easy for both the restaurant owner and their employees to commit tax fraud. The advent of debit cards has put a small clamp on it, but it's still rampant.

The legit way to do things would be to:

A. Raise food and drink prices across board by X% to cover the raise in salary to servers.

B. Pay servers a fair wage plus a profit sharing bonus equal to their average in tips.

Which circles us back to exactly what Minimum Wage jobs are supposed to be.

You seem to just point the finger without offering an opinion of your own. The only reason you are against it is because you impregnated a more than likely whale that is overpaid and you have pity.

Yeah. Let's just let it go on unchecked so that your baby mama can continue to make $40/hr. and report less than half that.

There's a burger restaurant nearby that's been around for years. The owners are filthy rich.

They only accept cash and have an ATM fee on site.

Why do you think that is?

You're suggesting they do it for tax evasion purposes? I guess maybe, though in this day and age when most retail businesses use computerized point of sale systems I would find it fairly doubtful.

If you can get your customers to play ball - which apparently these people can being "filthy rich" - getting around credit card fees is plenty enough reason in itself to run a cash business. ATMs are also money printing machines for businesses.

I love when he acts like he knows something. He's the little snot-nose who got an A in social studies so he thinks he knows something about the world. Every time he posts, it becomes more and more obvious how truly clueless he is. I love watching him get destroyed day in and day out. I just hope this site is still around when he's an adult so he can go back and laugh at himself the way the rest of us do now.

Of course I will. 👍🏻

Also, I got an A+ in social studies and don't ever get it twisted again.

As I mentioned, it's tougher to do now that so many people use debit cards instead of cash, but restaurants, food trucks, hot dog stands, ice cream trucks, pizza joints, and of course, casinos are all ripe for skimming.

It's also very simple for a manager/owner to void cash transactions in a POS system at the end of the night and skim the cash from those transactions.

On the server side, why do you think edjr makes such a fuss about wanting to tip only in cash?

Some stuff. I mow my own lawn. It's golfers and rich focks that will bear the brunt of it. Fruit wil cost more though. That's about it for me. Maybe some restaurants.

I don't mind paying a little extra so that we aren't essentially slave drivers again. I think it's sad that so many think human exploitation is ok. But with regard to your comment, studies have not shown what you suggest so I'm not too worried about it.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of all the tax fraud either. But it's socially acceptable, as evidenced by posters bragging about it in this thread.

Every owner operated bar/restaurant in America is way, way under reporting income. It's a joke.
