Brees on the block? Chime in nawleans!

Recommended Posts

Where there's smoke, there is not always fire. Why would Tampa possibly do this? He doesn't make them close to a contender.

I agree. I am curious though if a top 10-15 team who thinks they are a qb away from the playoffs would trade for Brees and if NO would accept. Of course he'd have to fit under the cap, so not sure if a team like the Rams would work. From a fan standpoint, I would love to see him on the Texans. They are a good QB away from making some noise.

This I could actually see. There are a few teams that Brees would make an immediate contender.

How good would he look in Buffalo? The Bills defense, Shady McCoy and S. Watkins? Wow - they would instantly becoming a serious contender.

That's a good option. Houston and Arizona are 2 other teams that come to mind.

It would be like a dream come true. But I don't see the Saints getting rid of him to begin with and even if they did I don't think the Bills have the chips to bargain with. No first rounder this year because of the Watkins trade.

They might have to part with a defensive stud (Dareus?) if they wanted him IMO.

Would be interesting to see what would happen if he did go to Tampa and then he would play the Saints twice . Hard to see the Saints wanting to let that happen .

That is true. No way NO would want their fans to see Brees twice per year unless it was a blockbuster trade. I also don't think Brees is a QB that wants to be outside in all conditions so Buffalo is questionable but they would have some pieces to make a run in the AFC. The Rams and AZ would be good fits.

N.O. tired of looking at the caterpillar on his face?

Jets would make a lot of sense if Mariota was there at #6. Don't think saints want to move the face of their franchise though

He goes to Arizona - they will be right up there with the Hags for the NFC Superbowl bid.

If Arizona wants to win a superbowl they throw the bank at a trade to NoLa for Brees - IMO Brees makes Arizona not only a superbowl contender but the favorite. They already got 3 good WR's , a solid RB who is also a great reciever , and a very stout defense. Only thing that has held them back is NO QB what so ever.

Palmer was playing pretty well.

He was -- Imagine what that team would of looked like with Brees. Arizona should say fock it and give their 1st and 2nd for Brees - their team is ready NOW for a legit run at the SB and that window closes quick all they need is a QB and to have a HOFer with 1-2 years left of elite play IMO is a no brainer even if it's an over pay as their window will close at the end of next year likely.

How is that defense going to be without Bowles? Not buying Arizona having interest with what NO would probably want in return and not with a competent QB in Palmer already rostered.

Actually makes a little sense

Since the players are still there and they have a good coach I would say still pretty good. NO would want a 1st and maybe a 2nd for Brees - to me it's a no brainer to do it. If they really want to win a Superbowl they make it -- Palmer is Competent and solid but Brees is a game changer.

They lost Comartie who was very good for them last year, and I can't see the saints trading Brees without getting a QB for the future in return. If they like Mariota or Winston then maybe but Arizona really isn't in a position to grab either QB. I also think you are under estimating the scheming Bowles did with that defense last year. He won assistant coach of the year for a good reason. He was able to make Arizona a top defense with aggressive and creative blitz packages despite losing good players to injury and suspensions. He made the ancient Larry Foote IDP relevant for crying out loud. Maybe Bettcher can replace Bowles and not skip a beat but it's very far from certain, especially considering Bowles took some key staff with him to the Jets

Might be time to replace him. He wasn't anywhere close to being the player he was in the past last year. I went to most of the games and could predict what the play was going to be and what Drew would do. Drop back, look left, and throw short to intermediate passes to the right or have PT come in the game and attempt a swing pass to him that every player on the field knew it was probably going to him. And his constant reliance on Graham. It's as if he forgot how to read defenses. His accuracy was off. His arm strength is off. He wasn't throwing those twenty yard darts like he used to.

Age is catching up to him. If he leaves, the team that gets him is not getting a top one or two tier guy anymore. Sad, but true. That's why the Saints are shaking things up. The window is closing fast and it's time to move in a different direction. I predict we trade up for a QB in this draft. Whoever it is, get's two years to learn from Brees before he either retires a Saint or ends his carrer the way Montana did. He said last year he could play another ten years. He hadnt had a drug test in two years. Fifteen minutes after tweeting that, he got called in for a drug test.

Ah, let him go.

In today's NFL, perennial Pro Bowl, Super Bowl winning QBs destined for the Hall of Fame are a dime a dozen.

Look, I'll help you out. Just a couple of miles out of town up the road is this guy I know, Brett. Call him. Tell him I sent you.

Don't get me wrong. I love Drew. Without him, I'd be a "Wait till next year" guy, like you.

But he's not the same player as the greats were toward the end of their careers. He's lost his drive and is a different player from what I see.

Would any team without a QB upgrade with him on their squad? Most definitely. But he's not going to make any team signifactnly better with his salary structure and lack of a deal to make them better if he doesn't restructure his current contract. Which he refuses todo here.

Love you Drew, but if you don't want to help the team, time to go. If you can't understand that a few million in cap money will help protect you better, than you need to move on.

zona was the team that came to mind as a perfect fit. brees would catapult them from an overachieving dark horse to a serious part of the SB conversation.

hadn't thought of houston, but it's a solid fit as well. but IMO brees would be looking for another ring, and ARI is closer to that level.

real issue is cap space.
