lesjroza 70 Posted March 13, 2015 Link It's going to be a crowded one with Ingram, Spiller and Robinson. I still like Ingram to be the best of the group but this move deflates the value of all three. Ingram certainly has a head start based on his knowledge of the offense and momentum as the most recently productive, but Spiller had previously flashed for a longer period of time, has been playing injured, and its not hard to envision Sean Payton becoming impatient with 4 yds and a cloud (or is it a sheen of rubber dust indoors?) and its also very possible the Saints are playing from behind a lot. Both RBs probably have equal injury histories. Ingram should get first shot at starters reps but I have no confidence in predicting how this timeshare turns out over the course of the year. I'm also not sure its a situation worth taking a shot on at this point anyway.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted March 13, 2015 I think spiller has a lot of potential, but i am not excited with this team. The saints already had a multi dimensional back in PT that they under utilized in favor of a one dimensional straight ahead mediocre back in ingram. It makes the offense more predictable. Unless spiller is running like a top back on every play, peyton is going to keep trotting ingram out there. I dont think peyton is the best at evaluating talent.
lesjroza 70 Posted March 13, 2015 Still can't find the contract terms but its being reported as a 4yr deal, just as Ingram's, and a "long term investment". Can't wait to see how the gtd numbers and the rest match up with Ingram's.
Djgb13 2,338 Posted March 13, 2015 Id take a late round flyer on spiller if he's still there. Otherwise I'm not touching him or Ingram until late rounds
tigeru 65 Posted March 13, 2015 If Ingram isn't traded by the holiday I'll be shocked

Spiller a 4-year, $18 million deal that includes $9 million guaranteed, per source. Last year of deal can void. I'll have to check but didn't Ingram get something similar or perhaps less... $8 million guaranteed?

I'll have to check but didn't Ingram get something similar or perhaps less... $8 million guaranteed? I don't know about the nuances of the structure and the 4th yr is voidable but this deal looks like MORE than they are paying Ingram. Not by a lot, but still.... Actually not a lot by football standards I guess is a better phrase. A couple million over 4 yrs and 1.4 million more guaranteed might be significant to most reading this board. Marshall 98 Posted March 13, 2015 I can't believe they paid more for Spiller than Ingram. Every time I see your posting name, I hear 'Deuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!' McAllister, aye? : )
Little Big Head 6 Posted March 13, 2015 Great spot for Spiller imo. He wasn't going to be a bell cow anywhere so getting a time share in an offense that likes to throw to its RBs, on turf, and with a top shelf QB was pretty much best case scenario
IGotWorms 3,309 Posted March 14, 2015 I will absolutely take a shot on Spiller if the price is right. Ingram was the guy last year but New Orleans stunk. They want a more dynamic player out of the backfield and Spiller fits the bill (no pun intended)
Mr Neil 63 Posted March 14, 2015 in my keeper league I'm at the 12spot elbow. I would take a Stab at him at first pick of 4th rd. That's about as early as I would pull him. Some guy will pull him top of 3rd rd though I'm sure
