MLB has approved a change to the intentional walk rule

Recommended Posts

How can they change a rule that never existed? :dunno:

there wasn't a rule stating the pitcher had to throw 4 balls for a guy to walk to 1st?

There is a walk rule, there was never an intentional walk rule. :dunno:

Oh, so they call it a IBB because it's fun to use the extra letter.

gotcha

They are both incorrect. MLB did not change a rule, they created one.

you should let the dudes doing the boxscores for the past 100+ years, they should have been writing BB instead of IBB.

a lot of mistakes to fix.

also. let barry bonds know he no longer holds the record for IBB

If they're worried about pitch counts they should have the pitcher hit the batter instead. Problem solved

Stats don't equal rules. There is no mention of "intentional walk" in the MLB rule book (before now), so how can it be a rules change? There are also many examples of batters swinging (and hitting) at pitches during a so-called "intentional walk". Now that will be impossible. :dunno:

I get it, they created a rule to allow for "intentional walks", or whatever they will call them. Honestly, as a baseball purist, I am fine with it. The traditional method of pitching around a batter was not an integral part of the game. :dunno:

Good. This should reduce the average game time by about 18.6 seconds.

Right?

932 IBB's in MLB last year in 4860 games. 1 per every 5+ games?

Wow, I would've thought it was more like an IBB every other game. Make it 7.4 seconds, then

Don't be surprised if my math is off. is it 4860 games, as in 162 X 30 or is it 162 X 15, as in each team has to play another team

932 IBB's in MLB last year in 2430games. 1 per every 2.6 games?

you were balls on.

Every pitcher must face a minimum of 2 batters. This rule will create more strategy, higher scores, more offense and speed up the game.

Pitches also don't need 8 warm up pitches, every freakin time they come into the game. They were just out in the bullpen throwing their asses off. stop it!

If there is an injury, fine, warm up.

I disagree. It's the mound the pitcher is getting accustomed to.

Also, many releivers don't use all the allotted pitches.

they don't have the same mound in the bullpen? :o

said pitcher hasn't thrown 30000 pitches in his career before today from the same mound?

god. you sound like a liberal.

an NHL goalie doesn't even get to warm up when he comes in mid game (unless injury)

stop making focking excuses!

Nope, not even that. There are bullpens for lefties and righties. The mound, on the field, was "prepared" by whover was pitching before tge releaver.

Ever see a pitcher kick around the rubber while worming up?

Yes, I said rubber ya 12 year old.

I'll clarify. There are 2 mounds in the pen. The mound on the right, from the pitcher perspective, is for righties and the left is for lefties.

The bullpen catchers don't want to see 2 balls being released when there are 2 warming up at the same time.

I like a 4 move per inning rule. 4 moves of players not in the game when the inning started. Could be for pitching changes, pinch hitters, pinch runners, fielding replacement, whatever.

Baseball is a slow paced game filled with strategy and playing the percentages.

No need to speed it up. The replay rule has slowed it way more than the int walk.

I am afraid that it is starting to resemble women's fast pitch softball.

Pitchers will be forced to wear a helmet. The defensive shift, playing a "rover".

Pull hitters opting to hit check swing grounders to the opposite field

to beat the shift. Catchers cant block the plate.

There is nothing wrong with the game, they should just leave it as is... Well, getting rid of the DH would be a start, but that won't happen...
