3rd pick In PPR ! Zeke vs David Johnson dilemma?

Recommended Posts

These threads, its like comparing a honey crisp apple with a tad more yellow to a honey crisp apple with a tad more red. You can't go wrong with either. DJohns is as good of a receiver playing rb as there is. Zeke may catch more passes than last year, but he will not catch near as many as David. There is probably going to be a 40 catch difference, at least. How would Zeke make up 40 points? Do you think the Cowboys offense is that much better than the Cards to make that up in yards and TDs? I think Johnson is a better runner too, and he would have set some records behind the Dallas oline.

Fuji Apples - 72

Honeycrisp Apples - 0

David Johnson behind that Dallas o-line, HOF.

When I get these decisions between two close players I like to look at playoff schedule as a deciding factor. DJ gets the Rams week 16. Zeke gets eagles in week 13 and then two cupcakes (like colts and bucs I think).

GTFO. You can say what you want about DJ ...or Zeek, but comparing a honeycrisp to a grainy ass Fuji is criminal. Honeycrisp is RB1. Fuji is a bye week flex

Also DaJo is my guy.

Fuji just scored another TD. Went for 2 and got it. Honeycrisps are fighting amongst themselves. Multiple bruises forming.

Fuji birthed by 2 great American apples: Red Delicious and the Virginia Ralls Janet. Ahhh..... yes.

Agree here. Fuji is nothing special. Ever try a Sweetango apple? Even better than honey crisp

It's not difficult to be better than a Honeycrisp. But you can't find any better apple than the Braeburn. I was just warming up with Fuji to make a point that the Honeycrisp pales in comparison.

Youll be fine either way. Zeke is probably more safe while DJ has a bigger upside if Bradford lives long enough to do 10-ish games of super accurate checkdowns to him.

Id take Zeke but I tend to play it safe because I expect that Ill be able to draft lots of decent to good players. I usually just aim to avoid complete busts early in drafts. If Zeke plays, hes probably not going to bust. Too much volume, the oline is high end as long as they get/stat helathy, and the big plays may still happen.

I don't think Zeke is safer by any means. You are only saying that because of a freak accident that happened to DJ last year.

Nope.

DJ gets a new qb and coach. And the oline is shakier than the Dallas unit. And Bradford is the heavyweight champ of getting hurt. Behind him? A rookie who might be bad. That is what I am considering less safe than Zeke. Zeke shows up with an obvious workload and a similar team to the one he was on when he performed well. Losing Dez is less of a big deal to Dallas than the stuff I am considering on the DJ side. Hell, it might not be much of a loss at all.

For clarity, DJ is probably talented enough to be fine even if Arizona is horrible, but I would rather have Zeke based on the above.

Some valid points, but DJ is a better rb. That is the equalizer. He will overcome any issues and still catch a ton of passes. Plus Zeke is a knuckle head off of the field. That actually makes him riskier imo. May grab a bewb mid season

Haha. That is scary and true about Zeke being a danger to himself off-field. I am trusting the power of Jerry to make issues disappear.

Zoomed out: we are very much splitting hairs, right? Almost the whole first round of most drafts this year seems at least somewhat safe. And DJ and Zeke should both be top 5-ish rbs this year.

Round one is about minimizing risk. Almost can't go wrong, but almost every player has risk. Gurley was used huge last year. Bell gets used every year. DJ is playing in what could be a very bad offense. Zeke doesn't catch passes like the other 3 and is 1 Zeke-like decision away from some sitting time.

But those 4 guys, even with some perceived risk to each, are the clear top 4.

After that, Kamara has the risk of can he do it again? Barkley's a stud, but it also in a bad O. Gordon gets you points in a 3.5 yard cloud of dust.

You know who doesn't have risk? Antonio Brown! But no one really takes him #1 with these 4 RBs there. IF I have a top 4 pick, I'll take one of the RBs, but I won't be heartbroken if AB comes my way.

Zeke, he's the better RB on the better team.

DJ will probably catch more passes but that's about it.

Plus Zeke hasn't been off the field for nearly two seasons.

Zeke is actually not a better running back.

Dammit.

Pick3 in a league that requires 3 starting RBs.

Really thinking Zeke is the play here with a better overall team of OL/ QB/ and little threat of another RB sneaking carries

I love David Johnson but that is a totally different team this year. New Head Coach, new QB- brittle as hell, new Wide receiver corp, and Johnson hasn't played in a year.

If Gurley and Bell are gone, it's a toss up between Zeke, Kamara & Johnson

Honeycrisp is the king of apples.

Id really look at DJ being in a contract year and coming off fresh legs. Splitting hairs though really, I love Zeke.

If you can steal the Zeke with the third pick I’m taking him.

I think the Zeke will be the number one ff rb this season.

Zeke runs like Lynch, you can give the guy 40 carries and he will hop up wanting more. This is not 2016 anymore and Dallas loves there stud RBs and options at WR are not number 1 receivers.

No love for Granny Smith?

I think DJ is the better overall RB but Zeke has a much better surrounding cast like others have said. That makes him the better pick IMO.

Not only that but he's much more likely to break off a big play

I have the 3rd pick (PPR) and I am leaning toward Elliott. A valid case can be made for either guy but my gut is saying Elliott.
