I really try and not be prejudice/racist

Recommended Posts

But tonight I'm in the cigarette line at Sam's Club(I know bad habit etc. etc.) and the guy checking out in front of me is a Middle Eastern guy with a cart full of smokes for his discount smoke shop. He's not the issue but just to set the scene,so while I'm patiently waiting another ME guy shows up and is leaning on the cashiers counter with his huge list of smoke products he needs and the cashier is like wtf?Anyhow I make eye contact with the guy and he moves to the side and meets up with yet another ME guy and they start visiting in their native tongue,

Five minutes passes and the guy in front of me finishes up and as he begins to leave with his cart this other guy steps in front of me to hand the cashier his list and I've focking had it and say in a stern tone,"excuse me but I'm next in line,I 've been waiting." This guy looks at me cracks a grin says something in his language to me and stands there while i get my measely carton of smokes and then as I'm leaving steps in front of me yet again and this time I make body contact with him as I once again say,"EXCUSE ME!" brush by and don't look back as he's muttering something.

Sorry not a great story no fight etc. but what in the fock is it with common manners with these people as this was the second time in a month I've had a similar situation like this take place at Sam's Club smoke department.

No manners. None at all. I had a minor confrontation with one of them on the subway. They just have zero manners.

Ive been to India, not Middle East, but still. My very first day there I found out that they dont queue up in a line like the West. It was literally a huddle and whoever made eye contact with the cashier got service. Think of a really crowded bar and everone jockeying for position to get a beer. Like that.

Point being maybe it was a custom issue. They might be fresh off the boat.

And ME are easily provoked and get scared. Bunch of Possays's.

Don't fawk with the Vietnamese. They'll cut or shoot you faster than you can say Alpo. Handled a claim recently where some black guys robbed a Vietnamese quickly store. Stole a bunch of cigs and alcohol in the middle of the night. I had to go behind the counter to get a few pics and get the the cam footage. Mama San had a 12 gauge sawed off, 9mn Beretta, and a 45 right under the register. They had AK's in the kitchen and beer cooler. Had a safe with a crucifix on it. Very impressed.

Glad you spoke up.

People are annoying.

You what's the worst?

Southerners! They're too damned polite!

They don't complain when lines aren't moving fast enough.

In NJ, in the hood, they'll immediately check you if you're taking too long or if someone tries to cut in line.

Southerners are to polite? It's a badge of honor and decency to be polite. I take pride in being polite. Except for driving, you should be polite. Southern manners are a great thing.

Certain cultures just dont know how to act. Middle East is one.

Chinese is another. The concept of waiting in a line for your turn. They just dont get it. You have to push and shove with them.

Yeah I always understood the steriotype but holy hell are they slow. From the people working to the people buying. Anytime I have been to the south, I am always thinking this would not fly up north. Im fairly patient but holy hell. They walk slow. Talk slow. Want to have a conversation about notbing when people are waiting.

A lot of Sam's members are business owners, these guys buy all their cigs there then take them to their discount smoke shops and raise the price 3-5 dollars.Sam's only has one line for tobacco whether you're buying one carton or one hundred.

Chinese people have the worst manners and zero people skills. None. And they are cheap as fawk. I go to the same Chinese restaurant. Twenty years I've been going. They know my name after all these years. But I don't get anything for free. Get charged for extra chop sticks and fortune cookies. God help you if you ask for extra soy sauce.

Know them by name and still get fawked. Cheap.

I've heard stories from from the employees at the Sams Club by me. They seem to feel better than and that they should be first in line, always.

It's their culture and prolly why the Jews get under their skin so bad by saying that God chose them to be first.

I meant only in reference to this subject. I forget that it's hard to understand when you're simply reading.

Let me rephrase:

I'm so glad he spoke up and complained because here in the south I've witnessed southerners not complain when people cut in line getting in front of them or when a cashier is taking too long because they're not doing their job. They don't honk their horns when someone is not moving on a green light. Heck, I've sat and the light went from green back to red and no one honked! Never in NJ. Often their politeness prevents then from confronting people when they should speak up and not get taken advantage of.

I was hoping you could infer that I didn't mean saying please or thank you was an annoying habit. Geesh.

On the flip side I've learned to tone it waaaay down. Now I just let people be and I'm not rude anymore, lol.

I'm of the old school. Southern manners. Yes Mam...No sir.... Hold doors open. Don't care what race , creed, or other. You'll get my respect. I love us all. Never understood why we didn't.

i grew up in san francisco. a lot of tunnel vision with little awareness or concern for those around them...it also carries over into driving.

on the flip side, i know many owners of chinese restaurants in the city and where i am. they often do a little something for us (appetizer, noodles, desserts, gotten me in when there is a wait)

You have to understand that the ones in America are the ambitious successful ones.

There are many good, polite ones here too. But there are a lot of focking annoying barbarians too.

Mostly, growing up in an overcrowded place like this changes the manners. In America, you can afford to be polite and let the lady board the train first. In china, you dont scramble your way in, you dont get In.

I am in a guesthouse in Laos right now. The whole place is full of Chinese. Chinese tourists are the suck. They travel in clans of 10+. They are loud as Fock. They just dont have a concept of inside voices. Dont know why. I think it has to do with the tonal language. Its harder to enunciate the tones softly.

Would love to ride the trains in Vietnam. You're a lucky man to do it. On my bucket list.

What youre describing is a similar scenario to what happens in NYC. My sons asked me again to tell them the story of my first trip to NYC at dinner tonight. When I finished, they laughed as always and asked why those people were so mean.

I told them it was because there were 11M people in the city, all trying to get thru the day without hassle. But, literally everything you do in a crowded city is a huge hassle, and it wears on you.

I cant imagine what it must be like in the Far East.

Europeans (excluding the British) are the same way. And just about any non-Japanese Asian.

No, they're lazy. And I swear to God they must be stoned. Did 38 minutes before an alleged nuclear strike and they waited until minute 35 to say hey what now?

I hate those people. They make the Hmong look like Manhattan stock brokers.
