Let’s not talk about all the times my best friend had to stop you from VICIOUSLY beating your son for small things like peeing in the bed. We kept quiet about your drug usage ... all the ILLEGAL steroids and needles you were using, but we will not keep quiet about this!!!!!! I can’t believe you did this to my best friend!!!!! YOUR KARMA IS GOING TO BE SO REAL!!!!!! The world needs to know what type of animal you really are!!!!!!! This was just her yesterday on the left and now this morning this is her on the right!!!! #WomanBeater #AnimalAbuser#ChildAbuser @nfl @tmz_tv @buffalobills"

In fairness, Shady response

“For the record, the totally baseless and offensive claims made against me today on social media are completely false,” McCoy posted in an Instagram statement. “Further more, I have not had any direct contact with any of the people involved in months.”

supposedly the two had a court date today as he was suing her to get out of a home he owned.

Edited to add:

911 was dispatched to his house where she was found beaten, so the whole "haven't seen them people in months," excuse isn't looking good.

My guess is innocent for now. Why hire someone to beat her a day before a court date? I'd have wagered she had more to gain by getting beat up than he did.

Latest reports are that it was an unknown intruder, but they were allegedly asking for specific items.

This is why drafting early can blow up on you. Took him in the late 2nd as my first RB pick. I did get Ivory in the 14th round but still, that's a draft changer right there

Hmmmm - so, Delicia is 34, with a 16 year old son. Do the math!!

Shady should have known better.. Or, did they have the Rookie Symposium when he was drafted?

This whole thing is very strange. There needs to be a long more info to make any judgements on this.

Oh man, I forgot I picked up ivory in dynasty last year right before the season was over just in case he ended up in a good spot. Now I'm switching my stance to McCoy is definitely guilty and should be suspended indefinitely.

Good point ... if she hired someone to frame

Him, it would explain a lot. Still, dont love what this means for my keeper leagues.

Wow what a sad situation this is.

Just read more about this issue.

Move Ivory up if you haven’t done so already.

And if you own Ivory already in a keeper, wow what a 100% lucky move.

Thanks.

Shady just got traded for Alex Collins in my dynasty league.

The thing here is the initial investigation will take several months. Then they have to find enough information to charge him. Then the NFL has to conduct it's investigation which will take maybe up to a year if history is any indicator. Then if he gets suspended, he'll appeal and all that.

He's probably playing this year unless the bills decide to step in a do something.

I don't really think they (the Bills), can. That's essentially saying "guilty until proven innocent". They (the Bills and the league), have to let him play with no limitations, other than his physical ones. The "Court of Twitter and Guilty Until Proven Innocent" needs to stop.

They could actually just drop him if they wanted to. Simply saying they don't want the drama. Not that they should. But, they are probably just going to monitor the crap out of this story until they lean one way or the other.

I'm entertaining the idea the bills might cut bait because it looks like they've been trying to go into rebuild mode. Incognito (head case), Sammy watkins (perennial under-performer), Cordy Glenn (rumors he was checked out after contract), Tyrod Taylor (over-paid), gave up on Reggie Ragland, cut bait on Marcel Darius.

They don't seem to give a shït what the back of the jersey says.

Of course they can do something. They can release him or just not play him.

While I only practice as an internet lawyer, I think firing before a person has had due process of the law could open them up to lawsuits for wrongful termination.

This isn't like a typical job though. Players get released all the time. If they determine that he's not worth all the crap that's going on and decide they could use that roster spot for another player then I believe they have the right to do so.

Any business can fire an employee without needing a reason. They are not allowed to fire someone due to racial or religious reasons though.

I'm sure they can come up with any number of reason outside of this case as reason to fire him, but if he's cleared in this case he probably brings a lawsuit. Whether he wins or not I have no idea, but they have to determine if its worth them potentially getting sued. In a right to work state I can see them getting a way with it fairly easily, however, I do not believe NY is a right to work state (just assuming). I think telling him not to come to the facility while still paying him is probably the safest action from a PR and still absolves them from any potential lawsuits. That would be my advice as a practicing internet lawyer.

Man, these players should know better than to allow all this crap into their lives.

Anyway, if he is guilty, I hope he rots in prison. If he is innocent and the girlfriend is lying about this, I hope she gets the gas chamber.

Why don't all players sue when they get released then? They have contracts and continue to get paid so why would they have a reason to sue. They are now free to sign with another team.

The team can drop him today if they wanted. No big deal.

The wording in contracts allows for people to be fired for certain offenses. Being fired for unfounded accusations outside of the work place I doubt is one of them, but I don't know the exact details of players contracts. I just can't remember a time where a player was let go before he had due process. I could very easily be wrong, but I just don't think it's as easy as tearing up the contract and not paying him. He would have had to breach it in some way. Most players are cut and released by certain dates which are stipulated when they sign. If they want to cut him and still pay him, I'm sure they can. However, telling him to stay away from the facility and waiting to see what happens does the same thing without loosing him if he his found innocent.

I don't think being released from an NFL team for any reason is termed as being "fired". I think they let you go and pay you what the contract states they owe you at that time. Am I wrong on that? Seriously they could claim this is bad for the team as a whole and actually be correct.

Did the Patriots let go of Herdandez prior to him being convicted in court?

Did the Patriots let go of Herdandez prior to him being convicted in court?

I looked up the Hernandez case and the Patriots did released him at the time of his arrest, or at least shortly after he was lead away in handcuffs. However, the financial implications at the time was very unclear. The Patriots were also sued by the Hernandez estate later on, but I don't know if that had to do with his release or was just CTE related.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/06/26/aaron-hernandez-released-new-england-patriots-arrested/2459401/.

Here are some quotes regarding their ability to terminate his contract.

"There is language in the Collective Bargaining Agreement that allows teams to nullify contracts and recoup bonus money in the case of incarceration or other off-field transgressions, but Hernandez never missed any football-related activities before he was released."

"Had the Patriots' primary concern been about money, it would have made more sense to allow him to remain on the roster while the legal proceedings play out. Had Hernandez been under contract and unable to play because he was in jail or suspended by the league, the Patriots may have been able to save up to $37 million."

"But now the Patriots will likely have to accept a major salary cap hit. On March 17, $1.137 million of Hernandez's $1.2 million salary became guaranteed. He will count a little over $5 million against the 2013 salary cap, which includes a guaranteed base salary of $1.323 million."

So a team does have the right to release a player at any time, but waiting out the legal proceedings seems like a way to save a lot of cash.

I didnt say anything about tearing up a contract though. They can release him whenever they want but would have to check mutinies paying his contract. Just think of all the rookies that get drafted and then dropped before the season starts.

Even radio hosts get dropped randomly. This happened a lot this year on 670 The Score. They got kicked off their shows but continued to get paid the rest of their contracts.

Of course Buffalo can release him for reasons as simple as not wanting the distraction. To think they cant is laughable.

Maybe I'm not articulating my point well enough. Of course they can release him whenever, but it would be better to wait it out. Based on his contract releasing him prematurely, at this point in the season and the investigation, doesn't make sense and could cost them more in the long run.

Mccoy is owed a little over 6 million in salary this year with a cap hit of over 8 million.

The Bills can cut him anytime they like, but would still have to pay him unless proof came out he was somehow involved. At that point he'd likely trigger some "conduct detrimental to the team" clause in his contract and the Bills would be able to terminate it.

Correction: The $5.25M is the cap hit.

BUFFALO COULD CUT HIM WITH N-O CASH / FINANCIAL IMPACT..
