SCOTUS okays sports betting

One place has cardinals laying 4, another has them laying 6. You bet both ends hoping it comes in on 5, winning both. If it hits one end you only lose the Vig.

Got it. Although your example seems like quite a gamble; mine with a 4-10 spread would seem much more alluring.

Oh yeah, but you rarely see a middle open up more than three points.

I'm guessing because the mafia has never figured out how to make money doing lotto? the states came up with it 1st.

The fun will start when you have a Dez Bryant catch situation and millions of dollars have been won or lost on a single questionable call.

Right, so if the Cards play the Pats, and Vegas has it -7 Pats, but the NE casinos have it -10 and the AZ casinos have it -4, the big money bettors will go to NE or AZ and Vegas will be shut out. :dunno:

I see what you are saying but it wont be close to a 3pt swing if it does happen that way. Maybe a half to a full pt.

you mean like how the bookies around here, jack the line up on the patriots, knowing people will still bet on the patriots :D

Patriots in Vegas will give 7, around here it's closer to 10

Is that really jacking the line or since local bookies are taking more pats bets than Vegas would be they need to have a higher line to cover themselves?

I'm not real familiar with how it works

That's an interesting take.

HOWEVER - my bookie, for the NFL, only opens at 12 before kickoff and sets ONE line for each game (spread and o/u) and rolls with it. There is no betting days before. Same with weeknight games. Opens at 6 pm.

Granted, this was many many many years ago.

I never understood why people bet on the home team anyway. Isn't rooting for them to win enough?

If they always see one team get bet consustantly more than another they will probably at thr very least side with the higher line.

In Vegas you may see a bunch of -7s and a bunch of -7.5s. Bookie will open with the -7.5 if he is suspecting more action. Then adjust from there.

My bookie does the same as Eds. He sends lines out 1 hour before games. He will adjust once in a while especially for late info but sometimes it looks like for more even action.

I can tell he likes to jack the Bills line off key numbers or onto key numbers. If the Bills are -2.5 everywhere they will probably be -3 with him. If they are +3 every where they will probably be +2.5 with him.
