According to Sal Palantonio, the Browns GM made up his mind to draft Johnny Football because a bum told him too. What a feel good hard hitting story by "Sal Pal". I bet Kevin Costner would've listened to a bum too. Cleveland=Loser town USA.

I think it was a great pick for them. That franchise needs some buzz. Someone for the city to get excited about. Still not convinced he'll be a great pro, but Brown's fans are thrilled about football again.

Colt McCoy played on stacked texas teams and was a system guy... Johnny Football is Graham Harrell who can run a bunch...

 

I think he has the potential to be exciting, but will be limited because of the amount of mistakes his game bascially requires him to make... If he tries to cut down on the mistakes he cuts down on the only part of the game he has a edge in. Catch 22...

Didn't like the Gilbert pick either... I think he could be a pretty good pro, but they had a top 10 pass D already, that wasn't an issue for them. They could have drafted Mack and got a Bridgewater or Carr end of the round or in the 2nd and been better off.

 

 

Hoyer has been great for them in the limited time he's been healthy. Is a very smart guy and they have the potential for a balanced offense. They don't even need a QB right now. Spend it on the defensive front.

I mostly agree with this but I don't think you can fault them for taking a QB early. Hoyer looked good, yes, but was it just a fluke? And more importantly, can he stay healthy for a 16 game season? I have serious doubts

Buster Skrine was pressed into a starting role even though he was essentially a nickel back. They picked Gilbert because Mike Pettine's system is essentially an attacking system, and they needed a better cover corner than Skrine because of that.

I don't know if I agree with this. They do have a lot of pieces in place to be (more) successful. They had 5 Pro Bowlers last year. They need impact players more than depth.
