The NFL seems to have it in for Lynch

Recommended Posts

Not sure what happened to make this post twice (except for the screen white-out and Mozilla requesting that I resend data), but I can't find an option to delete either one.

Sorry about that.

So a grownup man should not be held responsible for his own actions?

Grabbing his crouch on national television and shouldn't be worried about being fined? I can see the NFLs stance on it. Fine him for the color of his cleats? No. Fine people for goal post dunking, celebrating touch downs, ect? No the league has gotten out of hand with that. I'm surprised they haven't started throwing penalties for spiking the ball

They threatened to throw him out of the game if he wore the gold cleats. I've never seen that before. A fine afterwards sure, but to throw someone out? They obviously don't like him, mostly because he does not like speaking to the media. So they will make up punishments as they see fit.

Lynch grabs his crotch several times after each carry/catch to adjust as needed. I wonder if they will fine him for that? This is resembling a witch hunt and might reflect poorly on their overall priorities as a league. Seattle fans have been very quiet on the issues that have come up this week, but if Beast Mode gets nailed for fairly normal behavior there is going to be a giant rebellion.

Sorry, grabbing your crotch as he does in the end zone is completely unnecessary. I'm no prude but there are kids watching and noone needs to see that.

what if he has to adjust?

In midair falling into the endzone as he has done?

About as good as people believing rubbing the footballs is what deglated them.

Maybe Lynch should make an adjustment from side to side, kinda like Rodgers. Call it the Beast Belt!

Pretty much this. I don't care one way or another about his 'celebration' routine. I doubt that the NFL does, either - but they are grabbing (heh) at the opportunity to punish him prior to the Media Day Circus which is about to ensue this week. You know, the one where entirely unqualified and uncredentialed 'media' freaks are encouraged to get in player's faces and demand responses to the most inane and totally obnoxious questions possible? The NFL is simply sending a reminder that their pimp fee will soon be due and payable.

As one poster said on reddit:

Seahawks fans DO NOT CARE that Lynch doesn't give interviews. We in fact find it endearing since we think the media sucks balls too.

...and another on reddit suggested what his response to the media should be:

"well I'd like to start off by thanking our sponsors, mountain dew budweiser, chevrolet, pepsi, the natiional guard, nabisco, sunoco, pennzoil, xbox, microsoft, samsung, ebay, ea, underarmor, fruit of the loom underwear, cadbury, woodbury, blueberrys, doritos, cheetos, fritos, taco bell and the doritos locos taco, the doritios locos tacos flavored doritos, palmeto, neco, unilever, and jiffy lube. Oh time's up? alright, see ya'll later."

Here's a clip from Marshawn's rookie season in Buffalo to show what he was like beFORE the media began twisting his words and portraying him as a thug, making him distrustful. Once burned, twice shy and all that.

That video is awesome. Too bad he doesn't do that as much anymore. I do find his current media responses pretty hilarious too though.

It was OK to do it in the '80s because Michael Jackson did it at every concert and he was still normal back then.

It's on. Suck it, Goodell. :)

Edited to add: Apparently, harrassing Lynch is very good for business. Immediately on the heels of the 20K crotch-grap fine from the NFC Championship game, the NFL was offering pics of the event for $149.95 a pop, as per:

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/1/25/7890731/nfl-selling-photo-of-crotch-grab-that-got-marshawn-lynch-fined-20k

However, since Sando and others commented on that...uhhh...irony, the photos have mysteriously vanished:

Funny how that works.

Have you seen the latest on Lynch? The nfl is thinking about fining him for wearing his own hat brand to media day. The nfl is saying he is promoting his own BeastMode brand by wearing that hat. They nfl doesn't allow any brands that conflict with their sponsors yet the hat in question is made by New Era which is the official hat of the NFL. I truly do believe they are out to find ways to fine him

Seahawks teammate Richard Sherman defended him in a column for The MMQB. He believes it's unfair for the league to put the running back in an uncomfortable position.

"Under [Roger] Goodell the league continues to put players like Marshawn Lynch in a position to be mocked by the media, which seems to get a kick out of seeing people struggle on camera," he said. "As teammates we're angry because we know what certain people do well and we know what they struggle with. Marshawn's talking to the press is the equivalent of putting a reporter on a football field and telling him to tackle Adrian Peterson."

I want to see that!

He's one of the hardest working and really one of the most entertaining runners to watch. What a bunch of stupid f*cks to be pushing this guy towards just saying F it and retiring.

I remember a point in that Green Bay game late, Wilson was still struggling and I believe they had just did Green Bay with the fake kick. Marshawn was strolling the sidelines, passed Wilson, smiles and winks at him. It was a surprising gesture, given the point and circumstances of the game, but I can imagine how much it calmed Wilson down.

I remember that exact moment! I said to myself Lynch really is off his rocker...

Okay. From earlier today, Marshawn Tells It Like It Is:

"...And if ya'll aint mad at me, then what'll ya'll here for...I don't have nothing for you. I told ya'll that, so you should know that. But ya'll sit here and continue to do the same thing. I'm here preparing for a game and ya'll want to ask me all these questions, which is understandable, I can get that. But I told ya'll I'm not about to say nothing..."

Finally, the ugly subtext to much of the Marshawn criticism bubbles up. Thanks for being you, @BartHubbuch. https://twitter.com/barthubbuch/status/560870562239496192

When listening to Mike & Mike this morning, I got a kick out of Raiders' Charles Woodson (who is re-upping for his 18th season, btw), impulsively interjecting with, "Come HOME, Marshawn!!"

Michael Silver wrote a piece on Lynch's hometown Oaktown roots today:

We have a running back. Dallas is going to need one.

Heh. Can you really envision any sort of circumstances that would have Lynch playing for the Cowboys...in Texas, no less?

I can't, either. : )

Since they won't be able to pay DeMarco, they won't be able to pay him either. After they bust the bank to pay Dez, they can come back and maybe afford a running back with the price tag of Ridley or Ingram.
