Any 'gaming guys' married?

Recommended Posts

Spinning off of Moz's thread about wanting to buy a gaming system, are there any married guys here who are serious gamers? By 'serious', I'd say you average more than an hour or more per day playing games.

And for any married guys answering yes, how does that go over with the wife?

I used to play my PS2 a few years back. I only played on weekends but I was usually up till three or four in the morning. Wifey would make fun of me. It took me longer to finish games (Manhunt took me four months to finish) and I got tired of being an old gamer and stopped playing. Haven't played it in three years.

I might get a PS3 so I can play COD with fellow geeks.

I don't game every day, in fact I tend to limit my gaming to weekends only. However, I can spend an entire Fri or Sat night gaming with friends. The wife doesn't mind. She gets to catch up on all her shows or listen to music or do some painting or whatever.

ETA: I prolly fire up the PS3 about once a month these days but it's usually an all nighter with a buddy in Maryland. It's more like a long distance phone call (free btw) with sh!t talking and shooting each other.

I mainly just play COD with my brothers and nephews, don't play everyday, but usually on the weekend might put an hour or two in.

i never owned a system after my ps2 which crapped out right after college. but i'd still get together with friends and play 360. some madden or nba2k or whatever.

started playing computer games with friends but wouldn't call myself a gamer. i'll play a couple nights a week, during the week for 1-3 hours. don't play on the weekends but i suppose if i was married with kids or whatever that would be fine. Planetside2 is fun. though i kind of suck at first person shooters

I used to be back in the day. I'm talking Super Nintendo days. Hours upon hours wasted in my 20s and early 30s when I was first married.

I tried to play COD with my kid a couple of months ago and I got nauseous from the split screen, like seriously gave me a headache and made me feel like I was going to puke.

My gaming days are over.

:(

I would be happy with Super tecmo bowl -- if only the graphics were a little better :(

Ever since I got married I found that gaming time cuts seriously into my drinking time.

How is this possible? Gaming is the perfect time to get hammered, I do it all the time

My old crap pooter got struck by lightning, so I decided to build a new one myself - I went overboard and now have a bad-ass gaming machine!!! The problem is I rarely game.

I absolutely suck at BF3, so I don't want to play it, which is why I suck at it, which is why I don't like playing... it's a vicious cycle. But at least my graphics rock.

+1

When I was married with no kids I played all the time. Wife didn't mind at all

Now... I obviously wouldn't play in front of a 2 year old. And when she's finally in bed I'd rather catch up on Dexter, GoT, etc. etc. or just go to sleep myself. Maybe when she's a bit older I'll play a little COD again.

I'm married and binge game. By binge gaming, I mean something good comes out I play it until I'm bored with it. Each COD game usually has me in front of my system for a few hours a night shooting Sux in the face with a sniper rifle.

I play games. It's no problem.

My kids love to play too so we use that as motivation to get all their school work done and to eat. Yes, my kids are 4 and 6 and have schoolwork, we're homeschoolers.

I've seen a lot of game commercials on TV that look super cool. Usually the ones you guys all talk about like CoD, WoW and Madden. Just don't see me ever having any time to get into them. We have a Wii, but only my 12 year old plays it with me occasionally jumping in for some of their basic sports games.

I'm also in the binge group - I'll play the sh1t out of a game for a week or so and tire of it or finish it, then go on a hiatus for a few months. If I play it's usually at night when my wife is asleep, but sometimes I'll get together online earlier with friends for CoD which is fun. (360 owner)

I game on the PC. Mainly BF3. I go online on Friday nights and squad up with 3/4 other guys. It's great getting on the same team/squad. Wife is ok with it. If we have something planned, I have no problem skipping a Friday. Occasionally, I'll play during the week, but not often.
