edjr 5,563 Posted September 11, 2017 Thought it was supposed to be a movie. Had no idea it was a weekly show an hour was too long. I get it a 2 on a meh scale of 1 to
IGotWorms 3,311 Posted September 11, 2017 I've only seen the promos for it but it looks terrible. How in the fock did it ever get the green light??

IGotWorms 3,311 Posted September 11, 2017 Seth Macfarlane I'd watch it if he sh1t on a plate. Why? Family Guy was great. Sure it's been on way too long but that isn't his fault. Ted was okay. Not great but some decent comedy. Otherwise what the fock has he really done? Dude is talented but I wouldn't put him in that category at all
tanatastic 2,061 Posted September 11, 2017 I have heard he tries too hard to make a legit drama with comedic moments out of this. Seth is a genius but this feels like a miss.
Djgb13 2,338 Posted September 11, 2017 Wasn't bad. Gonna watch it again next week. See how it turns out

posty 2,296 Posted September 11, 2017 I was thinking of checking it out, but since I am really not a fan of Seth MacFarlane, I will probably pass on it for now...

wiffleball 4,639 Posted September 11, 2017 I watched it. Pretty meh. Basically, it's this: It doesn't know what it wants to be. It's a little bit nonsensical humor - like "don't take this too seriously." But then, it tries to be serious. It's not awful, it's just 'meh'. If I'm choosing? I'm going with the newest Star Trek. But I'd watch it again if nothing else is on.
IGotWorms 3,311 Posted September 11, 2017 Is that new Star Trek one any good? For some reason I feel like giving it a chance - nostalgia, I guess
Strike 3,968 Posted September 11, 2017 I couldn't find this thing on the TV. Wasn't listed in the guide unless it was on really early like 6:00 PM Mountain, so didn't get to watch it. Read a couple of reviews of it. I suspect this thing isn't gonna be on long.

Mike Honcho 4,027 Posted September 11, 2017 I like the part when he was introducing himself to the senior crew and the one guy asked if he could drink soda on the bridge...then later, he drank a big soda...that was sort of the high point for me.
Mike Honcho 4,027 Posted September 11, 2017 Is that new Star Trek one any good? For some reason I feel like giving it a chance - nostalgia, I guess Just came across this..so the answer at present seems to be Now, to be sure, there are some heavily anticipated shows I have yet to see. Star Trek: Discovery, for instance, hasn’t sent out screeners to critics. (That CBS All Access is playing so coy with the show isn’t a great sign, but with a major project like this, it’s entirely possible the post-production process is taking longer than usual.) IGotWorms 3,311 Posted September 11, 2017 Oh I thought the new star trek already aired. Nevermind then

So if this is a high point we can say it was not so good. Or at least not so funny.
crackattack 513 Posted September 11, 2017 Seth is a liberal, but not a bleeding heart in your face liberal. Yes he is. He's a Bernie Sanders supporting free everything liberal. But, he's funny as shitt, so who cares.
Hardcore troubadour 12,631 Posted September 11, 2017 Have to say, Hollywood keeps coming up with original material. Saw the commercial for some sort of Blade Runner earlier.
Cloaca du jour 2,064 Posted September 12, 2017 Episode three is about genders... so you know it will be meaningful and impactful
wiffleball 4,639 Posted September 12, 2017 Honestly, write the best part of the show seems to be the 10-second Norm Macdonald cameos. I guess it's hella expensive to CGI his character, but just hearing his voice was the funniest part of the episode. I guess he'll be in more cost allowing. Even Seth was like yeah he comes in works for about 10 minutes hangs around bullshits and leaves.
edjr 5,563 Posted September 12, 2017 Yes he is. He's a Bernie Sanders supporting free everything liberal. But, he's funny as shitt, so who cares. typically no, I can't agree with this. I don't need to know what side of the political aisle a comedian is on, it usually makes me hate them. Seth isn't an in your face, threaten to leave the country if Trump wins type, so that helps a lot. I liked Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman before I knew what moonbats they were. Can't stand them now

Can't stand them now I kinda agree with you. While not a threaten to leave type moonbat, he's pretty active. He very vocal on a lot of liberal stances, but you're right, he's not "in your face". Cruzer 1,992 Posted September 12, 2017 Never really got to see him play.. But as a 14-year veteran of the Army, and as the last guy to win the US Open going thru qualifying - he's always been a favorite of mine.

But then, it tries to be serious. It's not awful, it's just 'meh'. Good assessment - that's where I'm at as well. Also the ex-wife-as-XO was an extremely eye rolling plot line. I'll probably give it another episode or two before I ignore it. As for the new Star Trek - you have to subscribe to the CBS streaming service for a monthly charge to get it, so I will not be seeing it.

mmmmm...beer 691 Posted September 25, 2017 I don't mind it. Remids me of John Scalzi's "Redshirts". Sort of a behind the scenes look at a Star Trek type scenario where the crew would probably be talking massive sh!t about the captain, or making d!ck jokes etc... life is always too clean in the Trek. wiffleball 4,639 Posted September 25, 2017 I watch the third episode last night. The whole episode was about gender reassignment. Not even a grin much less a chuckle. I'd be surprised if it makes it through the season. If it weren't Seth MacFarlane, it probably never would have seen the light of day.
