Within the rules but crappy. Could have easily gotten a play off on 8 secs. Good game though

Gepetto 985 Posted September 24, 2017 Did the Ref change his mind and play ruling? Or was it called a Touchdown on the field, reviewed in the booth and then reversed?
Voltaire 4,557 Posted September 24, 2017 Did the Ref change his mind and play ruling? Or was it called a Touchdown on the field, reviewed in the booth and then reversed? Touchdowns are automatically reviewed.... when it got reversed, they ran ten seconds off the clock and the game ended.

ZeroTolerance 582 Posted September 24, 2017 It sucks that because the refs blew the call on the field, the game was decided in the replay booth instead of on the field on a final play. Not as bad as the Calvin Johnson game though.

ZeroTolerance 582 Posted September 24, 2017 The other annoying thing: When he was touched down, there were 11 seconds left. But of course of all the things they can change on review, that would be too logical (the runoff rule would still ruin it though).

The ball was snapped with 12 on the clock - so you think the pass, catch and call occurred in less than 2 seconds?

Cdub100 3,380 Posted September 25, 2017 How can they be screwed if everything was done correctly? First if a call is reversed that means something wasn't done correctly Second the Lions ran a plan in less than 8 second last year so yes it's possible especially in that situation. Third running 10 seconds off in that situation is stupid. Just another example of instant reply ruining the game.

ZeroTolerance 582 Posted September 25, 2017 How do we know that was accurate? It could have been 10 seconds in the stadium... Well, since this isn't D-3 football on a public access channel, the stadium clocks are directly wired to the broadcast.

They definitely got the call right eventually, just sucks that the game can end on a runoff as the result of a missed call on the field.

Agreed, I don't believe anyone is saying he was in. People are pissed that a rule put in place to stop cheating teams like the patriots screwed us over. It's not fair to give the Lions what amounts to a 4th time out to review the play. It's also not fair to just run out the clock like they did. What should have happened was, using the photo above the refs should have ruled it short of the goal line. Reset the game clock to when the player was down (11 seconds) impose the stupid 10 second run off there by giving the lions 1 second. The Lions would have had to snapped the ball at the whistle. Nope the Ref just ends the game like it's a focking soccer match.
